The Dimension is a very good BC, but to me the Axiom is like a back inflate underwater and like a jacket style on the surface. I really dislike BI BCDs on the surface. Can you get accustom to the leaning back, sure you can, but why deal with that... Thanks for your note. Bob C
Bob...I'm confused. Your very well executed video clearly states that this is a hybrid BCD. However, on Diver's Supply website, it does not show up using the hybrid filter. Additionally, Aqualung and most marketing material calls this an "ADV-style, jacket BCD." Finally, the Diver's Supply description for this states "Control System (patented) - provides easy, one-touch control for inflation and deflation. Eliminates the traditional inflator that dangles at the end of a corrugated hose. is simple and intuitive - just lift up on the lever to inflate and push down on the same lever to dump air. What’s more, when you push the lever down, all the dumps, upper and lower, open at the same time!" I don't think this is correct as the i3's have the one-touch system. Can you please clarify these concerns as I'm specifically looking to go hybrid and hoping that the 2023 Axiom is indeed a hybrid. Thank you!
Hey Warren ! So we are on the same page, the I-3 Axiom I owned a few years back, when you pushed down it opened the right side dumps, (Shoulder and Butt) and basically worked as you described. I don't have one I can get my hands on this second, so I can't confirm that dumping action. Yes inflate just lift up on the lever. The ADV style would likely reflect the numerous "features" the Axiom has. Any BCD that shifts or modify the location of air within the bladder BASED ON the diver's body orientation under/on the water would receive the term Hybrid. Some companies, dealers, shops, instructors and/or shop personnel may mistakenly call a Travel BCD a Hybrid, when this is not exactly correct. I've always spoken plainly about scuba gear and the I3 unit can/has run into performance / maintenance issues, so the "I3", is not the 10 of 10 I would rate the standard Axiom Regards Bob
We just ordered the Axioms for us (Mens and Womens) version. However the fit is quite a bit smaller than the equivalent sizes in Scubapro. It is really tight so thinking about the Aqualung Band extender w/pocket. Would it be ok to buy the extender or would it better to upsize the BCD
Looking at purchasing the axiom or the Zeagle stiletto. I have rented the stiletto and it was good…never tried a hybrid BCD. Which one would you recommend for mainly warm water and travel? Also as a 60 yr old with associated aches and pains, I am liking the rapture system for the back.
Dear Bob, I need an expert opinion on size selection. My over the shoulder measurement is 40 inches and my waist circumference is 34 inches. Btw, I’m 5'9" and 150 lbs. On the size chart, these (over the shoulder and waist) fall almost at the end of the Small and the beginning of the Medium. Which size would you recommend for me? All the best, Unsal
I agree, diving with an I3 is a great experience, but trying to teach OW Students and IDCs/IEs where you are suppose to be demonstrating proper positioning where you're in the same ascent position as your Students/Candidates and you do not have an Inflator hose with Infl/Deflat just does not work with the I3 system... Hi Natalie, I would recommend exchanging the size, don't do the band extender. The Axiom does not use a cummerbund.. Regards Bob C

I have the « older » version in XL and when I’ll loose the weight I want to loose, I’ll look for the 2023 in L
