I am an old Slingerland/Gretch user. I really enjoyed you passion for older/vintage drums, which I share. Thanks for sharing and Rock On my friend. Peace.
You really are making me miss my 5 piece pearl set. Left it at my Brother's 12 years ago and haven't seen them in all that time. I don't have space for them yet, I have a messed up back among other things and can't work, living with my Dad. I surely miss playing them. My Brother played bass with me, was awesome! That job you did on that drum! That wood looks so nice.
Mama buckin rocks. Lol. I made a drum from wood and a deer hide when I was a kid going through the Indian guide program. Long time ago. Love watching you take the time to save a part of history. Love ya buddy. Keep rocking and caring and I will follow and do the same. 🌲🌲🌲🙏❤️
Love your excitement buckin always puts me in a great mood u r a all around great man glad I found your channel a year or so ago u have helped me so much I thank u for always rocking it out making everything look so easy stay safe love wins keep on keeping on
My sister and I used to play together in our younger years. She's the drummer and a huge Ludwig fan while I was a guitarist. Once a year we may get together and play a little these days. I shared this video with her hoping your positive attitude and enthusiasm will infect her the way it has myself. You are a bright light in a time full of doom and gloom. Keep on shining.
As a 33 yr old drummer that's been drumming since I was 5, I thank you for this video. Brings me back to how my pop used to get excited about drums and I still do to this day. I miss him very much. Much love to the buckin army from Asheville, North Carolina 🤘 ♥ 🥁
Love it had a great time watching you Sunday. I have to get me another drum set it’s been about 8 years since my last set. Btw thanks for putting on a respirator we want to keep you around as long as we can…
Hey, Buckin! Got my first saw a few weeks ago! It’s an old Stihl 29 Super. Im a newbie when it comes to chainsaws (or power saws as you call them). I love running them. I love the smell, the sound. Im running 94 octane with Klotz oil. Smells like race fuel. My favorite. I’ve also been a drummer since I was 12! Love your channel! All my other power equipment is Husky but I couldn’t pass up the Stihl.
The 59 Ludwigs, paired with a 59 sunburst Fender Stratocaster was an iconic pair up. Add in an early 60's Vox Royal Coachman amp and you had a vintage sound that puts shivers up the spine!
I would love to hear you discuss your approach to tuning, especially snare drums. All of your drums sound killer, but especially impressed with your snare sounds. Love your channel
Always good to see ya doing what makes you happy 😃 haha ya 4hrs on Sunday was a record no doubt! I had to watch it in a few goes. Logger Wade sends his love ❤️ I had to pop in and say hi to him😁 his vids are contagious also. It’s the energy 🌟 I don’t have it like you guys but watching youz always puts me in a better mood🙂 thanks for youz all👍
Sorry I missed you live feeds the last few weeks, been busy taking care of house family and friends, and firewood when i can! Posting has been hard, but i have managed a few scores in chainsaws! Please stop buy and see, I think you will like them! Keep spreading the love , with peace and kindness !👍👍👍
Wow! Amazing stuff, Buckin'!! So, when I saw you using the heat gun and tile scraper to peel paint off that drum shell, I just HAD to send the link to my drummer son, Chad, over in North Alabama (who has earned quite an international reputation as a drummer and cymbal expert). I've sent him several of your videos, especially when you focused on the vintage stuff. So, I'm gonna paste here what Chad wrote me in reply to watching this video of yours: "Yeah, the link you sent was to a chain saw video, but I went to his UA-cam page and saw the Ludwig video. Those ClubDates were a little cheaper line from Ludwig, but the shells were the same as their main lines. They used that single lug design to save costs. The other lines had the usual top and bottom lugs all the way around. Unlike today where lower lines are made with cheap hardware and terrible wood....those club dates were solid! Around 12:00' in, he shows and talks about the bearing edge. Those edges on the old Ludwigs and also Slingerlands were warm-city. Big re-rings....can't beat that sound. On Ludwig's drums from back then, if the shell was a wrapped finish, they actually tucked the start of the wrap into the wood ply/seam. Crazy. Those are the old transitional badge/era that he has. I've had a number of old Ludwigs from the early to mid 60's but no transitional badges. Gretsch drums had different edges and shell thickness/ply make up. Old vintage Rogers were some of the best. They even had ever so slightly undersized shells so that the interface with the head at the bearing edges was a little different....made for unreal tone. Makes me miss the old Ludwigs I had - Gretsch is still my favorite always, but Ludwig (vintage) is a close close second. They have a different feel." GREAT stuff, Buckin'
Im not a big fan of music outside of classic but i do appreciate good woodwork and those drums look real nice. Go ahead an do the part 2/tuning vid if you want, i like to watch out of curiosity.
Maple and mahogany. It's a special combination both absolutely beautiful wood. I come from a Gibson family. Some insanely beautiful guitars. Unfortunately I'm not a string instrument guy, just never clicked. Drums are the only instrument that clicked for me. Had a Pearl set when I was younger. Nice beautiful blue. Anyways very cool buckin. Really like the natural finish and color. Maple is so pretty!
Duder those club dates are killer!!!!! I believe they are mahogany poplar mahogany with maple reinforcement rings,, excellent brother be kind always ✌🏻✌🏻
Absolutely tootly rootamentry cool, the time and effort to get that paint off there. Commendable workmanship. Thanks for the interesting drum lesson. I just beat on mine to get that monkey motion /tribal vibe and remove stress and frustration and to get some different kind of physicality. Drum circles are fun also. Came for the axes, stayed for the drums. 💕👍
It looks like 3 years for this badge... "Making this set even more special is the fact that the Transition Badge was used for such a short period of time (58-60)"...
One reference to be made with that drum's manufactured date of Feb. 4, 1959. That is the day after the "Music Died"; Buddy Holly, Big Bopper, and Richie Valens. Bye, bye Miss American Pie.
Didn't know you were a drummer. So am I! Also into the chain saws which brought me to your channel. You should really try a tuner. You will be amazed at the sound you get when they are perfectly tuned. Makes a world of difference.
That kit costs about 10x+ what my 1st car cost:) Not about the money but that's thousands and thousands for that kit. Very cool - going to look fantastic when done:).
But is it made of Canadian Maple? Ludwig does have it's own special sound. When I was young, I lusted for Roger's, you know Buddy. Then Slingerland, you know, Gene. But Joe Morello played Ludwig, the best sounding kit.
Whenever I run into someone excited about what they're doing, I get sucked right in with their enthusiasm. I don't play drums. I want to see how you tune drums. Go figure! 👍 😃
I know you have several videos on this topic, so I'm asking if you can direct me to the right video. I aquired an older fire ax, I would like to clean it, polish it, sharpen it, and give it a new handle. Do you have any videos that can help with this task. I'm not sure the make of the ax, its stamped USA and has a circle with in the middle of it. Thank you for all the great videos
@@jeffreyrubish347 yeah I have seen quite a few, Im just unsure on how far back I need to go, or if he had one specifically for doing a polish on any ax heads.

I watched Sunday and had to leave, then I came back. It was awesome Buckin was still online working on his drum. I had a great time.
I enjoyed that tuning program a lot! Same way I tune mine. Nobody's ever heard of it but I have a collector's Paiste kit. Thanks BBR!

Great video good job. From Glenn CATT in Massachusetts.

Yes! Do a tuning session.
I would kill for a proper clean version of the wood man. Such a catchy tune!

Honestly, how many people do you think can tune a drum and a carb?

Good to know, and I would agree the light pitting does give it some real nice character.
