Wait, project Ark send the probes not just to other stars, but other galaxies? 700 million light years, aka 2+ billion light years is far outside the milkyway. And if it really took "only" 20 million years from 2188 to the events of the game, these probes apparently have FTL capability. That ought to have put some planets in regular travel distance for living humans.

Dunno. Maybe they made FTL tech but never put humans on other planets.
