The best spot to check a crab for hardness is the underside of the carapace. Checking the sections near the abdominal flap will more determine how much meat is in the body and legs & the underside of the carapace will determine how much meat is in the claws, at least that’s what I’ve noticed… a crab can be proper hard on the bottom but that doesn’t always mean he’ll have nice full claws. Yea I’m no expert here… it’s Ash and Mullet that are the professionals. I know they test the females differently to males too.
They deal with thousands of crabs a week. So they probably know most of the tips you mentioned.

Mikey, one thing I’ve learnt for seasickness is eat a green apple, I don’t know how but it works, when I was on a cruise a few years ago my daughter and niece got sick and our waiter noticed that they were both missing at dinner and said to go get them and he’ll fix them within 10 minutes they were fine eating dinner

You’ve done a top job documenting this Mickey. My mates are pro mud crabbers up north in Shady Camp Darwin. I spent a few nights on their barge amongst the crabs crocs and midges. Unforgettable experience. Not many people would know how hard these pros work. Thanks for sharing this great video bro 👍

Mikey, Ash & Mullet......most engaging video following the real life of commercial fishing. Can we encourage you to showcase this Territory ways of primary producers more. Great for the crabbing industry, be it educational to insights of responsible fisheries management. Fished commercially for many years up in Gove and have a brother Burto running around Borroloolaway. Again great doco Mullet, Ash & Mikey. 100 hour edit....Tssss
