I reached out to Avi at CarPro and asked what is the minimum time to add Gliss on top is Cquartz coatings. His response is “If it’s hot weather, above 20c 1h is enough”. Hope this helps.
Carpro has some really nice products, but that 4 hr wait for me is more personal use than business use in my opinion. I love their whole line. Another great video Mike!
I really liked #Gliss 1.0. The durability and weird post application dusting were the only downsides. But I still think it had some of the best hydrophobics of the consumer coatings I tried.
Mike, sorry to ask the same question again but does the release of Gliss v2 change your top coating ranking compared to ADS Quartz? I am torn between going back to DQuartz/Glissv2 versus trying out ADS offering. Priority being hydrophobicity on a garaged vehicle
@ Hey Mike, I noticed that you had a TRW sign on the wall in this video. That's a cool sign man, my grandfather worked for them back in the day as an aerospace engineer working on satellites before they were bought by Northrop Grumman.
Like always Mike, your take on point and amazing how to. 1) It looks like SiC is a "better" coating than DQuartz, when you look at slickness, water behavior and gloss. Only characteristic I think DQ excells is hardness so not sure is really worth it, plus Im reading multiple complains on DQ durability. 2) what is your take on DLight? I know is new to say but you think is going to be a great coating or another DQ mehh... Your feedback is always appreciated.
I have not used Exo V5 but i have used V3 and V4 and I would probably give the edge to Exo in terms of durability as it is more of a traditional coating as it did seem to crystalize. But both coatings can be used as toppers for any coating. Possibly as a maintenance up keep when the coating looks like it is starting to lose its hydrophobic behavior.
@@briank.3539 thanks. I don’t have the answer but I would suspect it’s because if then unpredictability of the weather which may affect the flash time.

I wonder how it compares to EXO V5. It would be interesting to understand what coatings can benefit from being topped by these and where it’s a no-no.

If i need a coating for my coating due to lack of slickness and hydrophobics, Im using the wrong coating.
@@rooboy99 most coatings are not slick. For example DQuartz Go and Cquartz UK are not slick. So some like to top it with SIC which is slick or Gliss.

How does a coating become susceptible to water spots? Is that talking about rain water spots or actual hard water from a sprinkler or hose?
Would be for rain. Some coatings don’t cure as fast as others before they can get wet.
The only thing I think any carpro user wants to know is how it compares to SiC as a topper since original gliss wasnt good
