@@wigwagstudios2474 I was actually at Mora recently, and this Darley Champion did seem like the only mechanical siren while the rest were Whelens. That's why I was curious. It's definitely an interesting system! Strange, but fascinating. It's kind of sad at the same time though, the lonely Darley Champion.
@@wigwagstudios2474 Oof, yeah, hopefully it hangs in there a little while longer lol. It's not sick or anything! But it is the only siren there left that I don't believe to be battery backup. (well obviously) So unless it has a generator or something, the only sirens to go off during an outage would be the Whelens, but it's only that one siren! I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not, all the other sirens are backup and the city of Mora doesn't seem to mind it so far. Do you know if all the Whelens there replaced older sirens? Or were they added in? I don't know why I'm asking this, I mean there obviously had to be sirens there before them, I was just wondering, because maybe they were added in, I'm not sure, probably a mix.
@tarantula_kid701 I think there is more than one Whelen actually, maybe one was added recently? When I was there, I saw at least 3 Whelens. The solar powered Whelen not far from the Darley, about a block down and can be seen when entering the town. Then there's one near the high school and I saw another one, I can't remember the specific area, but it's somewhere in the downtown area not far from the movie theater. I'm terrible at explaining locations, but that's three so far that I saw personally, I don't know if there's anymore Whelen related sirens after that, but that would be interesting if there is a FS 2001 somewhere close or in the town too aswell! I've also been to Milaca. The sirens there are quite interesting! There's three ACA Screamers on the main downtown water tower and not far from them, there's also an FS 2001. I'm not sure whether or not there's any more sirens in that town after that. Some believe there's a Model 2 on the top of the water tower aswell, but it is believed by others as just likely apart of the water tower itself so that remains a rumor. Those are two towns I was at recently anyway, I'm not exactly sure how many sirens in total is in Mora, how many Whelens or 2001s or what type of siren in those series they are. I'd like to find out at some point how many they have, it sounds like there's only one Darley Champion, I'm not sure after that, but so far I saw three Whelens, unfortunately I didn't get to see the 2001, I didn't see it anywhere in the areas of Mora I was in but that doesn't mean that it isn't there, just haven't found it yet.
Epic recording!!
i love the whelens doing wail in the background
Wtf? Had no idea anyone recorded
You can hear whelen siren ambiance
This thing is in fantastic condition! Nice video!
Is this the only mechanical siren in the town?
To my knowledge yes, been down here a few times and I believe the only other things they have are whelens
