Possible reason there's coil whine is because ASUS opted to use all MLCC rather than a mix of both MLCC and SP-Caps for the sake of higher overclocking headroom. There's a reason Nvidia's reference design used a mix of both. It was specifically said it was to prevent coil whine/MLCC acoustic noise.

@@CitizenTechTalk It seems the crashes may have been due to voltage or power transient spikes. The new driver changes that behaviour, and seems to have new voltage tables.
@@Safetytrousers oh great! But does that stop the cards hitting over 2000mhz now?
Or just clean up power delivery with these new power tables only? (Sub 2000mhz capped to stop 2000mhz+ clocks? )
As the AMD cards good or not can hit 2100-2200mhz for the top cards and a lower card can hit 2500mhz which I think is a joke but yeah?
Do you think it's a short term fix and AIB's will do recalls before the 20gb or around the same time as the 20gb variants when they come out?!
Or that they've overcome the issues all together now?
Can you make a video about the best monitors with 4k 144hz and hdmi 2.1 ?
I love it videos 👌
where is the benchmark charts? how does this card perform vs FE and other AIB boards? where are the power draw test? where are the thermals comparison? where is the acoustic comparison? where is the analysis of performance per dollar vs cheaper AIB boards?? this is not a review, just merely an unboxing video
Was that coil whine only present during overclocking, or in the menus in general?
in general all the graphic card have coil whine on stress task so a i would not complain about that.
Do any of the 3080 cards exist? Haven’t seen anyone get one physically except for tech UA-camrs. I still have my preorder since September 11th.
Ordered this card on launch day and haven't seen anything to make me cancel the order, yet!
What about the coil whine?
where did you order from I have not seen it in stock anywhere
@@dokkey That's just luck of the draw, variance from card to card. No manufacturer or specific model is safe from it :(
@@dokkey I'll see what it's like when it arrives.

I didn’t check the size and now have to buy another case. Thing is massive.
Vertical mounting does make GPU look cooler but it lowers airflow and increases GPU temps for about 25%.
Hello thank for all the great information!!! So I am new to to most of this I am building my first PC and my question is which GPU would recommend to get the EVGA NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming Triple-Fan 12GB GDDR6X PCIe 4.0 Graphics Card or the ASUS NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 ROG Strix Gaming Overclocked Triple Fan 12GB GDDR6X PCIe 4.0 Graphics Card putting it with Asus Tuf x570 plus wifi mother board and Ryzen 9 5900x
Would be nice to see a detailed comparison between the Strix, TUF and MSI 3080s. Great videos btw. Never miss one.
How did you get your hands on one, I thought its not gonna be released till early november? Do you know when these will be available in Europe?
what is that coil whine!? UGH. That sounded so bad. I've never heard my 2080 make that sound
@@kahashikun That's really interesting! I wonder whether it would be annoying though while your playing games with headphones on etc. Hope not.
thats just when the gpu pushes like 300+ FPS in the menus, not gonna have it while gaming and capping your framerates at your monitor refresh rate will get rid of it even in old games that would run over 300fps
@@Gregoses Agreed. In fact, I've ran some pure ray tracing applications on my 2080, and the coil whine was certainly audible but I was getting hundreds of fps xD
@@Gregoses I plan on moving up to 360hz so this is a major concern for me. I'm assuming based on what you said both the TUF and STRIX mode will suffer this issue? Maybe the EVGA/FE/Gigabyte models will be safer?
@PC Centric
Do you think i will feel any difference performance wise choosing the strix one? If not im going to get the tuf and save 200 dollars for something else.
I've got one of these coming my way, can't wait! 250 in front off me waiting
Same although scan is not giving out queue numbers, just that they cut off pre-orders early to prevent a long tailback and that nearly all queues are in the low hundreds. Their next ASUS delivery is expected between now and friday so just gotta hope.
@@Llian_C lol I'd be happy if they get 10 cards in

Hi. I want to pair 3080 Strix OC with my 8700k@5Ghz (maybe planning upgrade to 10900K, not sure now :D ). Will it be ok with Corsair RM850x or im better to upgrade it for RM1000x? (Rest spec is 6x 1tb ssd, 1x hdd, Kraken X62 AIO). Thanks for the help!
i dont get it where is the fps counter when comparing TUF and Strix?
It wasn't there because there would be no difference.
I think he mixed the screens up, if you look at the AVG number I thing that is FPS and he reversed the title for the cards by mistake....................not sure but the onlt thing I could see
2 different scenes and he was focusing on the core clock not fps
I seem to get it now. But all in all, performance comparison is the only thing that i wanna know.
@@IASystemsComputerControls Well, if what you are saying is true, then there is a significant difference in performance between those 2 cards. 5 - 10 fps, thats like 6 - 12%... Overall, his comparison is not that clear for an untrained eye. I know those are 2 different scenes, but its confusing for many people. Not everyone figured it out on the first go.
thermal and acoustic performance against the TUF please?
AORUS GeForce RTX 3080 XTREME is the best ! where can i buy it
This is the GPU I want to get. Is 10GB enough to not upgrade for a while or just wait for 20GB card?

@@IASystemsComputerControls ah that's cool man, I ordered mine a couple days after the 17th so I'm probably behind you lol Ah your getting VR too! I decided to grab a 3080 and a quest 2 instead of a 3090, really happy with my decision 😊👍
Hello 👋🏼 friend. Would you recommend an Asus TUF or Evega black ultra? And why? Thank you 🙏🏼
Dont you need three separate 8-pin cables to get the most out of it?
Also he's never change for the oc bios switch lol.
Curious, do you have an M.2 under the GPU? and if so, how warm is it while gaming?
Welcome to another episode of things we can't afford
I exclusively restrict the videos I watch to things I can afford to buy.
I never watch rocket launches, massive container ships, luxury mega yacht tours, car videos. I have no idea what any of that looks like.
I’m wanting to buy a asus rog 3070 which is the same size. Will this card fit in a normal mid tower case or do I need to buy a bigger case? The case I am looking at is a Corsair 220t rgb if you are curious. Any info is appreciated.
The 3080 has been a real letdown for me. I’ve decided to sick with my water cooler 2080 ti. Sure it may be 4-5% behind these new cards, but at least it’s stable and I got what I paid for. Down clocking and limiting isn’t the answer people want to hear. It may be free for the manufactures but not to the customers.
I plan on getting the 3080 eventually and I am wondering if it will fit in my mid tower case or do I need to buy a full size tower case??
That extra money is probably is the MLCC "tax" 😂
All of their 3080's have that tho
@@MaksKCS not all brands besides asus lmaooooo

And when did I say that? 'Their' was obviously referring to asus.
Funny, but jokes aside, the TUF is MSRP (for the non OC) and it has all 6 MLCCs.
My new rig are sent and will come next week. Asus Rog Strix Z590-F Gaming WiFi, Asus Rog Strix RTX 3080 Gaming OC white edition, Phanteks P500 DARGB Air chase with DARGB fans, i5-11600KF, NZXT Kraken X53, HyperX Fury 16gb 3200 mhz. Well, I haven't had a great gaming PC my entire life. so I smashed it this time I guess.
Next year I will upgrade my monitor ofc. It is an old AOC, but yeah, I spent quite a bit on the PC.
Why did they send this guy review cards? He has no idea how to review computer hardware.
Yeah😂
That click was so satisfying 😍 I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these cards
I wish I had one of those here in mexico 😅
It's nice to finally watch these videos in more than just a hypothetical way.
In the words of my favorite zombie movie:
"The end is EXTREMELY fucking nigh"
Why does he keep talking about how much it costs and then never says how much it costs?
Because the type of currency is irrelevant when you have people from all over the world watching. The point is that its expensive.
@John Wegner .. I've seen it priced at $850.00 usd .. I think it's the best looking aib card thus far, but kind of disappointing to hear it has noticeable coil whine included for the extra $150 premium.. 🙄
Yeah it's kind of annoying, and if you pause the video where it shows pricing, it doesn't even show the ASUS card he's reviewing. However, the comparable cards on the video when you pause range from 779 pounds to 899 pounds - or $1008-$1164 USD.
Can you do compare video of Tuf and Strix? I Wonder which card is better at temps and noise.
"decent improvement"
>20mhz more....
My cheap Ventus will boost that high on the new driver 🤷♂️
Tech With Sean ventus runs hot and noisy as hell though xD beside full of cheap materials.
Sounds alot more powerful when you write 20,000,000 hertz more
Wish you would put up some comparison charts or something. You're the first strix card review i've seen go up. I want this card but not sure if its worth the extra $100 for this over the MSI trio. I do like those clock speeds though, what was your fan speeds set to to get that clock speed and those temps?
Now this is littt
He surley has a golden sample - as allways.Don't believ every strix oc clocks 2100mhz. And especially not when raytracing is activated.I also ordered a *3080 strix oc - out of stock edition*. 4weeks waiting...
Dislike for no benchmarksm though title says "benchmarks". Not good
Yeah more like a preview could't even compare temps or noise between TUF and the Strix at the faking least.
Nice to know UK have organized stores that went to the pre-order option. US stores still suck they even show the cards as sold out when they never sold.
"I can't believe you've done this!"
I remember when 3080’s were less then $2,000. Those were good days
coilwhine is dealbreaker for me though :(

Asus recommends a 850W power supply with this card on their website. How did your 750W do with it? I don't feel like buying a new power supply that's just 100W more than what I have now so I really hope 750W will be enough.
