About two years ago my maiden voyage on a tiny houseboat did not go well. I love them. Thanks
Be sure to run the glow plugs for at least 10 seconds before you crank it, and it will start a lot easier. Also: I'd check the opposite side of that "hole" you plugged to make sure it's not supposed to be there. It could be a water intake for cooling the exhaust.
I always did 10 sec on, 3 sec off, 5 sec on, 3 sec off and then 5 on and try it. Worked in the coldest winters with my 6.2L and 6.5L blazer. Don't want to run the glow plug heaters for too long cause they can burn out quicker.
If the Game Warden gives you a hard time, just claim you just escaped a much larger vessel that has sunk, and thank them for rescuing you. Also throw the Heart of the Ocean overboard if you get the chance.
You had to dig deep into the specifics to pull a compliment out of that one. Awesome example of "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all." 👏 Bravo.
On a positive note, you'll never forget the time you rowed this huge boat and didn't even catch one fish. 😄 It's a story you'll be able to tell to your friends, kids, and grand kids.
Residual fuel from all the times you cranked it. Diesels are difficult to start in cold. Glow plugs help by providing the heat for initial ignition then when the engine is up to temp the compression alone is enough to ignite the fuel. Great video and good to see Smalls.
As other comments before me have said, the smoke is most likely an exhaust leak somewhere in the line. Diesel engines have a tendency to puff plenty of it when they haven't been started for a few weeks or sometimes even just a few days. Fire up, let her sit to warm up for a few minutes, and you're ready to run. All that said, I see it as a blessing in disguise because you just found where your CO is coming from.
Having that boat is totally awesome you could do so much with it, you mention that it could be a tiny home yes easily its all about air circulation and the precautions to go with it you could even engineer a fold down platform where you could sit outside and BBQ outdoors, use it as a swim platform etc.

Greetings from the province of New Brunswick, Canada. I am a subscriber for a long time and always look forward to your videos! Your lifeboat is amazing. With a different propeller you could probably get more speed. Don’t forget that a diesel needs time to warm up the glow plugs. When trying to start it, there should be a middle position on the switch when turning to give the glow plugs time to warm up. Give it 30 seconds, then continue turning the switch until the starter engages. There might also be a separate switch to push in the middle position that you have to push or turn to warm up the glow plugs, before you engage the starter. I think it smoked and stalled because the glow plugs were not warmed up and you flooded the cylinders with diesel. Contact the older gentleman you bought it from and see if he can give you the proper starting procedure.😀🇨🇦
More speed?!?!? That floating zeppelin has horrible steering that was designed for rudimentary emergency navigation only. More speed would cause that lifeboat to need it's own lifeboat.

The smoke was probably just a leaking exhaust which there can be a lot of when cold starting an old diesel engine. That could also lead you to where the Corbon monoxide could have been coming from. Also let that baby warm up a bit after you start it so she can get up and stretch before you make her run after sitting so long.
Some states require registration (tax) and safety inspection of watercraft, including something as small as a paddle boat or canoe/kayak. At dusk, navigation lights are a must to prevent collisions with other boats. Check your local laws to stay out of trouble!
I think the secret to whether it’s a fun boat or torture depends on if you chose to be there, or work said you had to be there. It’s just a big plastic box, so lots of potential for it.

Good to see you back on the water AYO. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas bud
Lol, “I got some problems I’m fixin’…”. Ain’t we all brother. Hell of an episode
“If a game warden writes us a ticket, for paddling a life boat… he has no heart” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I SWEAR, Ayo has the BIGGEST impact on my life. You guys rock!
As much as I love Norman and Lojo, you are on another level than they are. It’s not even close. You’re ideas are incredibly original, creative, and so interesting. Can’t wait to see what you keep coming up with.

Check your glow plugs are working and that youre glowing them for long enough before cranking
Ayo, I have no idea how the big wigs in the commercial industry haven’t hired you to just make their commercials for them. You crack me up every time! You do a great job at ads!
That quick moment where smalls looked at ayo and his face said. “ oh are we not spooning?”
Congrats on 500k!! Keep on doing what you’re doing!
Honestly all your vids put a big smile on me. It’s too funny😂😂
Buncha good ol boys.... having a good ol time...Man i wish i had friends like this..

2 mins 7 seconds in and my blood pressure is on the rise!! I love Ayo, Norm and LoJo's fun banter. I'm a 42 yo old female who still LOVES Twilight and KNJ 😂 SO glad I found you guys!
@Repent and believe in Jesus Christ don’t you mean paddles? Take up your paddles?
It was the “dude do you feel like I’m a real man?
-yeah do you not?
-Yeah for sure” 😂😂😂😂😂
Same! These guys are hilarious! Grew up in rural Louisiana and I feel like I know them! 😂❤
We need more Smalls on the channel!!!!
We missed you brother.. glad your back.. looking forward to more videos!
There is so much bromancing here it's hilarious. Very wholesome and genuinely fun.
You guys are all awesome... Don't stop doing what you're doing just keep doing what you're doing and don't stop doing what you doing
500k lets goooooo🎉
Congratulations on 500k Ayo! I've never fished in my life but I love your channel (and LOJO and Norm's)..I swear my whole family now knows Neighbor Darryl, Davey Gravy..you have me researching on Texas Rigs and buzz baits and spinners..its so cool!
You should try fishing sometime. Once you do it a few times and understand few things you get hooked on the sport. I'm going fishing tomorrow.
2 seconds of awkward silence at the beginning
Love this life boat saga honestly, hope you keep these coming!
The smoke was probably just a leaking exhaust which there can be a lot of when cold starting an old diesel engine. That could also lead you to where the Corbon monoxide could have been coming from. Also let that baby warm up a bit after you start it so she can get up and stretch before you make her run after sitting so long.
My arms are still sore from paddling that Girthy Girl!! DUDE WE ARE IDIOTS!! 🤣🤣
What helps me sleep at night is knowing Ayo facetimes norm in the shower like a real bro would
the chemistry between you two is amazing. keep it coming. but also bring gravy with you next time.
The outtakes are especially amazing😂👏🏻
Happy New Year Brother!!!
Keep em coming! Love watching everything you put out. I say make it a houseboat,it would be awesome.
I know 0 about boats but I enjoyed watching you guys! True friends having an adventure 😊❤
Ayo hits 500k and he's back!
And yes we need more of smalls in the vids with you, norm ,yak lojo and everyone else.
Can’t forget Davy Gravy!
Some states require registration (tax) and safety inspection of watercraft, including something as small as a paddle boat or canoe/kayak. At dusk, navigation lights are a must to prevent collisions with other boats. Check your local laws to stay out of trouble!
"This is going to take years brother" That had me laughing pretty hard.
A really big congratulations on breaking 500K subscribers.
These two are legendary together he should be there for all the episodes with this boat
Been so excited to see this video. Keep up the good work and don't give up on the itty bitty I cannot wait to see your first overnight in that beast!
I think the secret to whether it’s a fun boat or torture depends on if you chose to be there, or work said you had to be there. It’s just a big plastic box, so lots of potential for it.
Great video guys. Thanks for all the hard work making this video it had to suck paddling that big boat.
I am addicted to your videos. you are so entertaining and funny! love it!
Finally dawg, been waiting since the first video
You guys are hilarious together. You definitely feed off each other's energy.
I'm an old dog but would seriously enjoy hangin' with you guys.
We’ve been waiting for this to drop, good seeing you again AYO. I was at Lake Allatoona in Cobb County, Ga. On Monday & it’s ridiculous how they allow Georgia’s Lakes to lose water each winter especially how wet this winter has been, it’s simply ridiculous!!!
Ayo is without a doubt my new favorite "youtuber" but more than a youtuber hes just an awesome human! And him, smalls, and norm are like the perfect 3..
We all enjoy when you guys film together as well I have said it once I’ll say it many more times to come I am sure of it smalls and Ayo together is UA-cam GOLD ❤
Dude, I look at that thing, and all I can imagine is how cool it would be to put it somewhere in the woods and do it up turning it into an off the grid hunting camp! I know someone who did that with a train caboose.
