It can’t remain as is anymore, they’ve already removed a lot of the victim’s belongings and a crime scene cleaner has already cleaned up the aftermath of the crime. It’s just an empty house now. If it were up to me I would’ve wanted literally everything untouched, including the blood, then have the jury walk through in hazmat suits. That would’ve been really, really, really powerful.

What a horrific tragedy! The loved ones of Ethan, Xana, Madison and Kaylee must be going through the most unimaginable and excruciatingly painful hell. I also feel bad for the Kohberger family. Legally speaking, I can not understand how destroying the crime scene before the trial could even be an option. These precious souls and their loved ones deserve justice. Anything that could possibly compromise the case should not even be considered. Of course people seeing the house is traumatic. However, these victims must come first.

I believe they have used special video cameras which record everything in a crime scene & the house as a whole, to scale, in 3D format, thus it can viewed easily from every angle, as often as they need.

They are tearing down the crime scene and making everything easier for the defense. Also, I think that destroying the house could make everything that was in it inadmissible. No DNA, no case. So so sad. I cannot imagine how you go about cleaning and emptying a house like this where such a horrific crime happened. I'm sure everyone living in the area wants the house gone. That happens a lot like in the case of the house of Ariel Castro where he held Amanda Berry, Gina Dejesus and Michelle Knight. I can also see wanting to keep it to give the jury a chance to walk through the house to understand the scene. One of the jurors of the Alex Murdaugh trial said it was really a turning point for him because he saw how high the threshold was for the door of the feed room. It told him the second weird shot to Paul Murdaugh could have come from Alex tripping backwards over the threshold. That in itself may have been crucial to the case.

The Manson murder home of Sharon state was not tore down and much worse happened in that home. It wasn’t removed for more than 20 years and 4 other owners. It’s highly unusual to tear down a home after a murder or murders happened in.

@@brittcruz897 Depending on the State it can take 20 to 30 years to carry out the death penalty. In other words they sit on death row far too long before they are ever put to death. Often they die of natural causes before they go to the death chamber. Some could argue that sitting on death row for decades is more painful.

No one wants to hear about who's coming to visit him, who he's dating, or fan mail from psychos, when he brutally planned out the horrible murder and took four precious angels from this earth who had so much potential and beautiful lives ahead of them. As much as I understand the parents not wanting the memories of this house, I think they should wait until the trial is over just in case the jury might want to look at it, leave no stone unturned.
The building that the Parkland School shootings happened in was kept as is for years so that the jury could eventually view it. Boarded up and gated off from the rest of the high school for 5 years until trial. Last I heard the building is still up and the trial is over. I don’t see the rush to demolish the house if it could potentially harm the case.
That building was owned by the school district and they had other buildings to have classes. If a house is owned by private people, they may not want their property held for years until a trial is over. The state should get all the evidence and will have a 3D video. I was a juror on a murder trial, the crime scene was a hotel, and we had pictures. We were able to get the idea of the crime scene. Personally, I wouldn't want to go to a crime scene.

No one ever wants to visit a crime scene but sometimes it’s necessary. This isn’t a typical house. The layout is weird, odd neighborhood roads, the apartment building right there. Yeah 3D is useful but it’s not the same as physically being there. They randomly did a jury trip during the Murdaugh trial and a juror said going there helped him. If it’s torn down the opportunity, whether used or not, is gone forever and that’s the issue.
@Holllyy_H The evidence is not gone. Even with the UA-cam videos, we can see the outline of the house, and the state will have much better video than UA-cam. That juror in AM trial also said the trip didn't change his decision, it was a speculation that AM may have tripped, but didn't change his belief that AM killed his wife and son.
Demolish the house after the trial, NOT before. It is of course a crime scene (four people were killed in it). Let the jury see the crime scene if possible. I mean, duh.

Them having no access to this home, the jury, should also be the #1 reason the home stands. The families don’t want the home tore down til after the trial either.

Put an automatic stay on the property, I'm sure the courts attorney will petition for that. With automatic stay, they can't demolish the home until the stay is lifted.
Demolishing the house before the trial is like destroying evidence. Keep it up so prosecution or defense can do a jury walk through. What’s the rush? Money. The University wants it gone and forgotten so their admission numbers aren’t affected. This is such a tragic event, the jury needs to see all the evidence so the right person is sentenced.

I know a lot of folks hate the death penalty. but i honestly think its wonderful. While we have some people in prison who can certainly be redeemed. We also have ones who shouldnt get to live another minute. This was four innocent young souls, minding their own business, going home to go to bed. so brutal that the own cops on scene said they were horrified.. Some people do not deserve redemption. Send him straight to hell where he belongs.
A few things… 1) he’s innocent until proven guilty 2) innocent men have been put to death and later their innocence was proven 3) the death penalty cost tax payers far more than it does to house an inmate, as they are still imprisoned for decades before being put to death 4) in many ways the death penalty is the easy way out 5) a firing squad is not something that should exist anywhere in a nation that believes themselves to be “civilized”.
Bottom line the house needs to stand so the jury can absolutely walk through and hear the acoustics from Dylan’s room, Bethany’s room, Xana’s room, & where the girls were sleeping. The fact the house has a very odd floor plan, & the prosecutors claiming he was watching them from the back through woods. The jury needs to see and hear all they can to make a final decision. It’s imperative the Jury, Prosecutors, & Defense team should be entitled to have access to until the trial is over. The reality is most of the students that were at the college won’t be returning as they go for a couple years and move on & either graduate and continue their education at other college campuses so there’s no reason to worry about the actual students at the campus.
Watching them bring their stuff from that house is devastating. Justnimaging them packing their suitcases to go back to school. So excited and full of hope and life. It will never make sense to me why and how that man could have done this. I know bad things happen everyday but it just feels so senseless. I have a daughter away at school, in a house with her friends where they live their young lives. Heartbreaking. I'm so sorry for their families. It haunts me thinking about what Mr. Gonzales said about sending your kid off to school. You never expect to get them back like this. All those dreams you have for your children even before they were born and it gets taken away for no reason.

Please, please, please talk to your daughter, get to know her roommates and whom they bring around. Make sure your instill in her that having an open house party atmosphere can and does bring with it many tragedies and traumas to both young women and young men. Make sure she remains vigilant in her surroundings. It’s a scary thing to have to convey but we have found ourselves having to do the same.
First of all, I would have been very upset to have others pack up my child’s belongings. Understand that they looked through their personal items for clues, but to continue packing up their possessions and claim them at another site…doesn’t sit right with me. I think they should wait until he is convicted. The Murdaugh case is the best example of that. PLUS, the layout of this house is so weird. I would not need to see this house as a Juror. The evidence is enough. I also don't think a perfectly good house worth thousands of dollars should be torn down because people died in it. People die all the time in all sorts of places. We don't tear down the buildings, destroy the cars, and demolish their workplaces, do we? It has nothing to do with respect, just a waste of resources. Clean up the house and fill it with people again. Put a memorial garden some distance from it, and put a fence around the property so people can live there in peace. Too much drama about this house.
Actually The public defender halted the cleaning of the crime scene not the removal of the mattresses and furniture. The furniture was taken to somewhere FOR the defense to comb over.
As for demolition and removing the ability for the jurors to visit the property: There are services available, used by realtors that allow 360° viewing walk through of houses. This should be done before anything is removed.

I'm watching from a different country and I feel a sadness that they would want to demolish the house before the case has gone to trial. There is nothing more haunting than a jury visiting a crime scene. It is essential that they keep the house until the need for the jury visitation is either denied or agreed to. If there is any doubt in the the minds of the jury members, the visit could secure their decision. I cannot imagine the loss of these kids. What happened to the doggie? My heart is broken for these kids, so young and so unnecessary. A memorial at the address would be a good idea.
If they feel the house won't require a walk through, it makes me feel as if the evidence they have found and not made public, is so incriminating that they feel it may not be necessary.

Most juries don’t actually go to the crime scene and they really don’t need to. They don’t need to be inside the house to determine his guilt or innocence. But I don’t think they should be destroying the crime scene before trial just from an evidentiary standpoint. I don’t like opening the door to the defence coming up with some theory down the road and then saying they’re at a disadvantage because there’s evidence that’s been destroyed.
But in these high profile cases they do walk through the crime scene. Even in that Alex M case they did. Even though they had the scan of the crime scene. There are some things even the scan can't show you. For example it can show the outsides of the house but you can't get a clear comprehension of exactly where the nieghbors camera is in regards to the outside walls of the house. Or like in the AM case one juror said the walk through was the turning point for him because he could actually see exactly how much of a lip was on the feed room threshold. The 3D scans are awesome but even they don't depict everything and some of these tiny details can be huge.
Also the jurors need to be able to see what can be heard from one room to another like in DM's room, what could she hear? Is it really old and creaky and everything can be heard like a previous tenant described or muffled and hard to hear like DM says. Not to mention the lay out of the house. I gotta say even with all the videos of the inside of the house, it's hard to get a clear understanding of it. A walk through could really clear all this up. This is one case that if I were a juror would want a walk through. Just because of the layout itself and wanting to get a better idea of what can/can't be heard from the survivors rooms. And no, they typically don’t go to crime scenes, even in high profile cases. Did Nikolas Cruz’s jury go to the school? Couldn’t you argue the same thing saying that actually being inside the school and seeing the hallway and seeing the classrooms would give you a better visualization of everything that happened? What do you think could actually be gleaned in the Idaho case that couldn’t be accomplished through testimony? No, otherwise all juries would do it. And talking about whether sound travels in the house would actually require the jurors to violate the rules. They have to go by testimony, not do experiments. They can’t put someone in Xana’s room and someone in Dylan’s room and pretend to whimper to test out whether she could’ve heard that the night of the murders. That’s an automatic mistrial. They have to go by testimony, not by their personal experience of the evidence. They have to decide whether they believe Dylan based on what they hear in court, not what they hear at the crime scene.

If the scanners did a thorough enough scan it will be better than nothing but I still don't think it's enough. And trust that they scanned everything the jurors want to see. Since Idaho is now awaiting the governor's signature to make a firing squad a legal means for the death penalty next they should consider getting a guillotine perhaps it will scare criminals to reconsider their actions beforehand. But estimating the cost to build a firing squad at $750,000 should be a crime within itself.

Is the university privy to information that the public isn’t? I just hope with all this media coverage, we're not pursuing entertainment at the expense of justice. The media has really sensationalized this case and I worry that Kohberger's defense team will argue that the media has made it impossible for him to get a fair trial. It would be a horrible thing if the jury came back deadlocked and he went free. The defense only has to cast enough doubt on the investigation to convince one juror, and media sensationalism might be a good argument.

The University just wants this to go away. The jury needs to go in and see for themselves how it is possible that Bryan K can go thru there and wreck so much havoc in so short of time, or there will be room for reasonable doubt. On the TV, from memory, the house looks huge, so in person perspective is important. We have double jeopardy in this country so the prosecution has to get it right the first time. So what about the firing squad. Wasn't it also used by Gary Gilmore? It's not like it's never happened before. It's justice. This is just heartbreaking for the family. Every step of this isn't easy and now they have to think about this. I believe that, if there are family members that would like the house to stand until after the trial, I think that is fair. It was a crime scene, so I would imagine that it does matter.
Blood was leaking out of the house. It must have been a bloody mess in there and the stains are still there. How can they even go in there to collect their loved one's goods?

The students need to be mature, and want Justice for these Fellow peers. They can work through it. The school can provide qualified counselors or group chats so that a student or relative doesn't have to feel alone while they are grieving. It may be beneficial to make public all the information about what happens if you are an accused killer. It may not be as glorious somebody thinking about killing somebody would imagine, so hopefully this will eliminate a few murders even if it's one it's worth getting all the information out there.
Maybe the focus should be an alternative to clearing the crime scene and tearing down the house. Maybe that alternative should be a faster judicial system. The jurors and anyone not there, would never fully understand how sound and movement were easily heard throughout the house. They'll not be able to hear the sliding glass door or feel the air pressure change when certain doors open, They will not see what is viewable from the windows or hear their footsteps on the parking lot outside. Could the defense be able to purposely craft a reason the case was not fair, because they needed something that the physical building demonstrated? As for the students that want to 'move on', they have moved on, it's the murder victims that were stopped.

It can’t remain as is anymore, they’ve already removed a lot of the victim’s belongings and a crime scene cleaner has already cleaned up the aftermath of the crime. It’s just an empty house now. If it were up to me I would’ve wanted literally everything untouched, including the blood, then have the jury walk through in hazmat suits. That would’ve been really, really, really powerful.

What a horrific tragedy! The loved ones of Ethan, Xana, Madison and Kaylee must be going through the most unimaginable and excruciatingly painful hell. I also feel bad for the Kohberger family. Legally speaking, I can not understand how destroying the crime scene before the trial could even be an option. These precious souls and their loved ones deserve justice. Anything that could possibly compromise the case should not even be considered. Of course people seeing the house is traumatic. However, these victims must come first.

So so sad. I cannot imagine how you go about cleaning and emptying a house like this where such a horrific crime happened. I'm sure everyone living in the area wants the house gone. That happens a lot like in the case of the house of Ariel Castro where he held Amanda Berry, Gina Dejesus and Michelle Knight. I can also see wanting to keep it to give the jury a chance to walk through the house to understand the scene. One of the jurors of the Alex Murdaugh trial said it was really a turning point for him because he saw how high the threshold was for the door of the feed room. It told him the second weird shot to Paul Murdaugh could have come from Alex tripping backwards over the threshold. That in itself may have been crucial to the case.

The Manson murder home of Sharon state was not tore down and much worse happened in that home. It wasn’t removed for more than 20 years and 4 other owners. It’s highly unusual to tear down a home after a murder or murders happened in.

As much as I understand the parents not wanting the memories of this house, I think they should wait until the trial is over just in case the jury might want to look at it, leave no stone unturned.
The building that the Parkland School shootings happened in was kept as is for years so that the jury could eventually view it. Boarded up and gated off from the rest of the high school for 5 years until trial. Last I heard the building is still up and the trial is over. I don’t see the rush to demolish the house if it could potentially harm the case.

That building was owned by the school district and they had other buildings to have classes. If a house is owned by private people, they may not want their property held for years until a trial is over. The state should get all the evidence and will have a 3D video. I was a juror on a murder trial, the crime scene was a hotel, and we had pictures. We were able to get the idea of the crime scene. Personally, I wouldn't want to go to a crime scene.

Yeah 3D is useful but it’s not the same as physically being there. They randomly did a jury trip during the Murdaugh trial and a juror said going there helped him. That juror in AM trial also said the trip didn't change his decision, it was a speculation that AM may have tripped, but didn't change his belief that AM killed his wife and son.

Them having no access to this home, the jury, should also be the #1 reason the home stands. The families don’t want the home tore down til after the trial either.

Put an automatic stay on the property, I'm sure the courts attorney will petition for that. With automatic stay, they can't demolish the home until the stay is lifted.

Bottom line the house needs to stand so the jury can absolutely walk through and hear the acoustics from Dylan’s room, Bethany’s room, Xana’s room, & where the girls were sleeping. The fact the house has a very odd floor plan, & the prosecutors claiming he was watching them from the back through woods. The jury needs to see and hear all they can to make a final decision. It’s imperative the Jury, Prosecutors, & Defense team should be entitled to have access to until the trial is over.
The reality is most of the students that were at the college won’t be returning as they go for a couple years and move on & either graduate and continue their education at other college campuses so there’s no reason to worry about the actual students at the campus.
Watching them bring their stuff from that house is devastating. Justnimaging them packing their suitcases to go back to school. So excited and full of hope and life. It will never make sense to me why and how that man could have done this. I know bad things happen everyday but it just feels so senseless. I have a daughter away at school, in a house with her friends where they live their young lives. Heartbreaking. I'm so sorry for their families. It haunts me thinking about what Mr. Gonzales said about sending your kid off to school. You never expect to get them back like this. All those dreams you have for your children even before they were born and it gets taken away for no reason.

Please, please, please talk to your daughter, get to know her roommates and whom they bring around. Make sure your instill in her that having an open house party atmosphere can and does bring with it many tragedies and traumas to both young women and young men. I would not need to see this house as a Juror. The evidence is enough. I also don't think a perfectly good house worth thousands of dollars should be torn down because people died in it. People die all the time in all sorts of places. We don't tear down the buildings, destroy the cars, and demolish their workplaces, do we? It has nothing to do with respect, just a waste of resources. Clean up the house and fill it with people again. Put a memorial garden some distance from it, and put a fence around the property so people can live there in peace. Too much drama about this house.
Actually The public defender halted the cleaning of the crime scene not the removal of the mattresses and furniture. The furniture was taken to somewhere FOR the defense to comb over.

There are services available, used by realtors that allow 360° viewing walk through of houses. This should be done before anything is removed.

I'm watching from a different country and I feel a sadness that they would want to demolish the house before the case has gone to trial. There is nothing more haunting than a jury visiting a crime scene. It is essential that they keep the house until the need for the jury visitation is either denied or agreed to. If there is any doubt in the the minds of the jury members, the visit could secure their decision. I cannot imagine the loss of these kids. What happened to the doggie? My heart is broken for these kids, so young and so unnecessary. A memorial at the address would be a good idea.

Most juries don’t actually go to the crime scene and they really don’t need to. They don’t need to be inside the house to determine his guilt or innocence. But I don’t think they should be destroying the crime scene before trial just from an evidentiary standpoint. I don’t like opening the door to the defence coming up with some theory down the road and then saying they’re at a disadvantage because there’s evidence that’s been destroyed.
But in these high profile cases they do walk through the crime scene. Even in that Alex M case they did. Even though they had the scan of the crime scene. There are some things even the scan can't show you. For example it can show the outsides of the house but you can't get a clear comprehension of exactly where the nieghbors camera is in regards to the outside walls of the house. Or like in the AM case one juror said the walk through was the turning point for him because he could actually see exactly how much of a lip was on the feed room threshold. The 3D scans are awesome but even they don't depict everything and some of these tiny details can be huge.
Also the jurors need to be able to see what can be heard from one room to another like in DM's room, what could she hear? Is it really old and creaky and everything can be heard like a previous tenant described or muffled and hard to hear like DM says. Not to mention the lay out of the house. I gotta say even with all the videos of the inside of the house, it's hard to get a clear understanding of it. A walk through could really clear all this up. This is one case that if I were a juror would want a walk through. Just because of the layout itself and wanting to get a better idea of what can/can't be heard from the survivors rooms. And no, they typically don’t go to crime scenes, even in high profile cases. Did Nikolas Cruz’s jury go to the school? No, otherwise all juries would do it. And talking about whether sound travels in the house would actually require the jurors to violate the rules. They have to go by testimony, not do experiments. They can’t put someone in Xana’s room and someone in Dylan’s room and pretend to whimper to test out whether she could’ve heard that the night of the murders. That’s an automatic mistrial. They have to go by testimony, not by their personal experience of the evidence. They have to decide whether they believe Dylan based on what they hear in court, not what they hear at the crime scene.

If the scanners did a thorough enough scan it will be better than nothing but I still don't think it's enough. And trust that they scanned everything the jurors want to see. But estimating the cost to build a firing squad at $750,000 should be a crime within itself.

I just hope with all this media coverage, we're not pursuing entertainment at the expense of justice. The media has really sensationalized this case and I worry that Kohberger's defense team will argue that the media has made it impossible for him to get a fair trial. It would be a horrible thing if the jury came back deadlocked and he went free. The defense only has to cast enough doubt on the investigation to convince one juror, and media sensationalism might be a good argument.

The University just wants this to go away. The jury needs to go in and see for themselves how it is possible that Bryan K can go thru there and wreck so much havoc in so short of time, or there will be room for reasonable doubt. On the TV, from memory, the house looks huge, so in person perspective is important. We have double jeopardy in this country so the prosecution has to get it right the first time.
So what about the firing squad. Wasn't it also used by Gary Gilmore? It's not like it's never happened before. It's justice. Everyone's so worried about these killers assed suffering, but have no problem sentencing families to a lifetime of parole hearings, dooming them to relive their loved ones death every year til they or the killer dies themselves. This is just heartbreaking for the family. Every step of this isn't easy and now they have to think about this. I believe that, if there are family members that would like the house to stand until after the trial, I think that is fair. It was a crime scene, so I would imagine that it does matter.
They definitely should make the scene available to the jury to view if requested if only to avoid making it a point in the appeals.
God I can't imagine the horror inside that house in terms of blood and just what a nightmare it looks like in there 😢
Blood was leaking out of the house. It must have been a bloody mess in there and the stains are still there. How can they even go in there to collect their loved one's goods?
@@justanotherguy469 Yeah I totally agree. The crime scene is definitely how it was that night minus the body and physical evidence but yeah all the blood is still there. That's a nightmare. But there is a chance that if they cleared the scene the families/owner could have had crime scene cleaners in there and clean it by now but who knows. So sad 😞
I guarantee those students still living in that neighborhood are not going to want a satellite police station put there. Hell no. Nor would that increase safety in the area, considering it’s looking more likely that there was prior contact between him and at least one of the girls living there.
I cannot even imagine that demolishing the house before trial is even an option ..distressing as it is for families /friends/students....
The students need to be mature, and want Justice for these Fellow peers. They can work through it. The school can provide qualified counselors or group chats so that a student or relative doesn't have to feel alone while they are grieving. The students will be Leaving for the Summer, and

I don’t live in Idaho but I’d be glad to come out there and pull one of those triggers. I’m pretty sure there’d be quite a line out there for open tryouts for that one, should it come to that.

It may be beneficial to make public all the information about what happens if you are an accused killer. It may not be as glorious somebody thinking about killing somebody would imagine, so hopefully this will eliminate a few murders even if it's one it's worth getting all the information out there.

Maybe the focus should be an alternative to clearing the crime scene and tearing down the house. Maybe that alternative should be a faster judicial system.
The jurors and anyone not there, would never fully understand how sound and movement were easily heard throughout the house. They'll not be able to hear the sliding glass door or feel the air pressure change when certain doors open, They will not see what is viewable from the windows or hear their footsteps on the parking lot outside. Could the defense be able to purposely craft a reason the case was not fair, because they needed something that the physical building demonstrated?
As for the students that want to 'move on', they have moved on, it's the murder victims that were stopped.
It is way too soon, listen, i understand this is hard, seeing the house but look at it this way, it should be a reminder that justice will be served.
Even though the prosecution and defense took 3D laser scans of the house, it still isn’t the same as being physically able to view the house and the property. I really think that they should wait until after the trial to tear down the home, imo.
If the case goes to a jury trial, it`s best to let the house stay for jurors to view the crime scene. imo Maybe they want this case to disappear.
