- Here's how to not fix a stuck grinder. What more can I say? I got myself into a bad situation and then made it worse. Maybe you can learn from my error or maybe you just want to laugh at my stupidity, either way enjoy the show!

Use a vice grip clamp to hold the spinning part
I have the same problem with the same wire cupping wheel. Lock button is broke too. I’m going to grind a slot in the spindled arbor to hold the shaft while I break the nut free. Wish me luck!
Treat yourself to a Hitachi brother, it'll be life changing! The button presses a little pin into a gear, you need to pull it apart to remove the sheared pin from the gearbox or the whole thing will self destruct next time you run it, a while it's apart (the 4 screws next to your weld) you can put the big gear in the vice with rag to protect it and heave all you like on the brush

once i was trying to get a wheel off a large makita and i let go of the button while leaning my weight on the wrench/wheel and the pen shot across the room i found it and got it back in just keep your hand on the button while turning
well that sucks.Maybe pull it apart to see if there is anything inside you can get to that will help. Otherwise see what is in there and if you want anything before you throw it out.
scottecooke Yeah, I’m kind of looking forward to dissecting it, I like taking things apart and see what’s inside anyway. If I had a really good slow-motion camera I would take it out and shoot it with my deer rifle… Probably get 100,000 hits on that video. LOL.

Heat the bolt , it will loosen , I have same problem , but planning to heat it

backyardbladesmith Good call, I’ve been looking at those DeWalt grinders for a while. Definitely on my wish list.
Best to get a new one, and research it a lot. You can get a rebuild kit I'm sure, but the cost+time= just buy a new one.
TheOneTheOnly W The nice thing about having a UA-cam channel, I can always order a new one and whether it’s good or bad, I can do a review. LOL. Of course, when you get into power tools, it can turn into quite a bit of investment.
Looks like it might be time to bust out the jig saw to extract the cleaver from that plate.
ps, I've got a 5" variable speed Makita angle grinder. A++ would buy again.
I ordered a cheapie Black & Decker 6 amp from Amazon. If it works-Awesome, if not at least I can trash it in a review. LOL.
