Tracking my calorie intake and cutting out unhealthy/sweetened food has helped me a lot. My weekly training routine looks something like this:
    - Train 3 to 5 times a week
    - Go for walks on rest days
    - Eat about 1.5g of protein per kg of body weight daily
    - Eat mostly clean (healthy food, no processed food, lots of vegetables and fruit)
If you do this regularly, you should see results. Also, don't blame yourself if you eat unhealthy sometimes. I occasionally have days where I eat two chocolate bars in a row, but if these days are rare, it doesn't matter.

Congrats finally an ACTUAL workout / diet journey.
After years of mistakes I finally tracked my errors and got much better in all domains. Consistency and Diet are keys, people often think they workout a lot, or enough, but if you look week by week, the one missed session there and there becomes several weeks missed in 6 months.
Also diet is really the core of everything, counting protein is the basis, and stop thinking you can eat shit and get away with it even if you are a so called "hard gainer". :)

I've started my journey, I'm not that much into fitness but doing home fitness twice a week, 2 times a week cardio and martial art 3 days a week effectively 7 activities a week while also being in a calorie deficit. In the first month I lost like 5kg, I'm still going and super motivated. I'm very curious where this journey leads me, but one thing I'm sure of.. It’s a very nice video and I think you did a great job transforming your body but if you were trying to use this video as a way to help others find a way to achieve fitness you kind of failed. You basically got all the help you could possibly want, you had a fitness trainer come to you and offer you guidance, you had a company sponsor you to make your food for you so I mean you technically took all the hard work out of doing it yourself in a way.

    • @Dargoyaki
      @Dargoyaki  4 місяці тому +1

Oh yeah, I definitely got help. It definitely made things easier. Correction: I bought the meal prep (just the protein), it wasn't sponsored and I prepped the carbs myself. I see this video as more of a documentation of my own body transformation journey. I never had any guidance in the past and never succeeded in getting this physique before so, of course, I went to seek some guidance from a trainer. Otherwise, it would've been exponentially harder to do it in such a short timeframe alone.
But I think saying having a personal trainer and buying meal prep protein takes all the hard work out of doing it myself undermines the fact that I... still had to do the dieting and the exercise. Don't get me wrong, it takes a lot of the mental load away via planning and cooking. But I still had to physically grind my ass off for 150 days. A personal trainer ain't a magical fairy that gets you the physique you want with a snap of his/her fingers.

It's crazy how much people overcomplicate this stuff. Do compound lifts, lower overall calories while keeping protein higher and maybe do some cardio (dont even need it to lose weight but it's good for you). Even simpler eat less move more. The hard part is sticking to it not knowing what to do, it's sticking with it. The known secret is consistency.

I would not recommend this to anyone but I went from 210lbs to 165 in a year by basically starving myself. Initially I would eat 1 meal a day and eventually 1 every 2 days. Don't drink anything with sugar or fat, just do water if you can. Its been 6 years since then, I still have bad eating habits and have had a lot of trouble gaining any substantial muscle. Last week I decided enough is enough and I am forcing myself to eat a minimum of 2 meals a day and workout every other day. Gained 2 pounds so far! Hopefully I can make it to 180 by end of summer!

How do you find the discipline to keep away from unhealthy food? I can never do it for more than a day, the temptation just withers away any sort of motivation i had. Also, do you have any tips on any other form of losing weight other than going to the gym? I'm a broke uni student who cant afford private gyms and the nearest ActiveSG gym to me is undergoing renovation for at least >5 years, not to mention i dont know anything about gymming in the first place (leading to it being daunting to go to the gym in the first place)

    • @Dargoyaki
      @Dargoyaki  4 місяці тому

Actually, you don't want to entirely cut them out from the get go, the cravings will be too strong. Throughout this journey I've actually eaten my fair share of unhealthy food, the point is to keep them in moderation and compensate for the unhealthy foods by eating something to make up for the macros in the day
If I'm eating a dinner with a lot of carbs and fat, I compensate by eating mostly just protein in the day before my dinner so that it *sort of* balances out
I think the key is not to aim for total restriction, but rather more so of damage control

my thesis for why the working out journey start is almost always kinda gay:
I feel like many people's first thought of "i wanna work out" is seeing someone else with a good physique and going "damn that person's hot as fuck... i want that".
Thesis over, thanks for coming to my TED talk.

gratz man no b* but its worth it - ive been the same, chubby etc. looking back its so weird coz i was just eating bad foods, and never spend my time doing research , researching the food i was eating myself. now i just bulk peanuts for protein and growing from there. way cheaper and easy, also gr8 body achieved in fast time + health.
and; there's actually only 1 women needed, so calling them bitches would make them prepaid.

If you want to know more about how not to refuck your plans because of certain crucial events (like festive season in this case) read about the HAPA model (Health Action Process Aproach) and see what is crucial for a lifestyle modification to go well. It's psychology based so it actually has scientific evidence and doesn't rely on hand-me-down knowledge. great video!

i actually had a similar revelation after going to a nearby convention and seeing a nearly perfectly lean buff MF cosplaying as Monkey D Luffy. I'm (relatively) short so i saw that and i was like "yo i want those lean abs"

There's one quote that kept me going, i heard it from a random dude in internet.
i hope its inspire all of you as well.
"Always remember, the journey to your goal WILL NOT be easy, so love the process it will really help you reach your goal."
and for the love of god, NEVER hope you get your transformation into greek god body in a month lol
cuz your first week or even month will be the hardest since its the time for adjustment for you.

It's funny how anime influences guys to get into shape and get things done. The anime that got me to sort my shit out is, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation and Solo Leveling. Now I'm making money constantly and getting in shape.

Oh my god, this was the video I've needed in my life right now. I'm currently in a similar situation to where you were at first, having not been as active anymore due to having knee problems, and this video gave me the answers I needed. Thank you for sharing your experience with us, and here's to getting some bitches with our Toji physique lol
    Cheers!

So step 1: get a really good trainer to babysit you that can also recommend the diet.
    Step 2: readymade meals.
Just these two are too expensive. This seems to be for rich people.

You are obviously misinforming people as I lost 12kgs fro 3 months eating mostly fatty meats and fish. Eating healthy fat like the fat in meat and especially salmon is the correct way to lose fat.

3:20 I think you forgot to mention that you were likely gaining a bit of muscle too. Muscle weighs more than fat so there can be times where you gain weight before you lose it.
