Tiny Toads

In the rain today, we found hundreds of tiny toads on our driveway and in the road! Although the sight was amazing, a little research showed it was not a magical event at all, but the mass metamorphosis of the American toad. We have a pond across the street, and these little guys all change from tadpoles to toads at about the same time (not sure why...). There must be thousands of them around the pond.
