80 lbs per rock x number of rocks moved = Holy crap that's a lot of weight! It looks great! Most retaining walls I've seen aren't nearly that long either....well done guys!
I take my hat off for being a woman and doing this yourself, I’m very handy with carpentry stuff, self taught by watching UA-cam videos. I plan to do a retaining wall myself. The pride you must have is probably off the charts. Well done… Girl Power 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼👯♀️😊
I'm still in shock that each block weighs about 80 pounds, and you carried and positioned each and every one of those! OMG, you're unbelievable. My back is killing me just thinking about it. Awesome job!
You really did a great job! Lots of hard work. Congratulations. One item of note. The blocks that you used from Lowes I am also looking at for a wall that I may build.. They are actually 62 pounds in weight, not the 80 pounds you mentioned. ☺
Good job!!! It is always so inspiring to see women creating content that traditionally has been seen as ‘a man’s job’… I have been contemplating on building a wall in my garden too… thanks for encouraging me :::))))
By far the best video for DIY. Everything is explained. I see so many videos that have excavators, tractors, or bobcats. If Im attempting to do something the first time, I'm not getting any of that equipment. It's shocking how many people make videos that just give you bits and pieces of the information that is needed. Great video. Thank you
You did a great job! That is a lot of hard work but very rewarding, I'm sure. I'm in the decision-making process on doing a similar wall that will be about 100 feet long and approx. 3 - 4 feet high. Thanks for the inspiration!
I went to Lowes and did not see the block you used. Do you know the name of the block you used? Did you get gravel from Lowes? I think you had 5 pallets of block. How much does Lowes charge to deliver pallets of blocks? Thanks for any help/ P.S. YOU DID A GREAT JOB ON WALL!!!
This may be a dumb question, but how were you able to determine that none of the weight from your house would be on the retaining wall? I have a very similar situation, and based on your landscape, I'm pretty sure I'm a couple cities away from you, and even have the same home builder. I just want to be extra confident before beginning this project :') Thanks!
This is a great question, mostly because they left us with that cut out but also I had an engineer and contractor take a look. I would say if you’re worried give an engineer a call, they are super helpful.
Dannggg watching ur vid Made me start on my retainer wall about the same size hopefully looks as good as yours and holds up.. thank tons for the info good video
My back hurts from just watching the video. I am about to start building a retaining wall so getting ideas. I am in north Texas so we will need good drainage behind the wall. Thanks. How is the wall holding up?
I used 126 today and my land scaper wanted $3,500 to build the wall. I ordered them for $370 delivered from lowes and had it built myself in one day. He was a one man operation, if you put that into an hourly rate he wanted somewhere in the $200 an hour range. That’s just disgusting.
I'm a 67 year old woman of average fitness in Australia. I am in desparate need of retaining walls on my property, possibly longer than your one, I wonder if I can manage this on my own as I can't imagine my adult sons wanting to help me. I'm retired and financially DIY seems the most economical way to go. I don't understand why you didn't use a concrete footing to hold the first row firmly in place.
What were the size of the blocks that you used? Like 6 inches high, 10 inches width, and 16 inches long. This would be valuable information for others.
80 lbs each?? You lifted 80 lbs? OMG! Don't want to make you mad!!! Very impressive video. Finished wall looks great. I'm now 67, but even in my heyday, I could lift maybe 40 lbs.
Not only did she save herself thousands of dollars she looks like she got herself into amazing shape. Now I need to show this to my wife and encourage her to do the same.
She makes it look easy but this is a back and butt breaking work that even most guys can't handle. I just can't imagine how she managed 60 ft of those solid blocks. I think I need to get off my couch and start ordering these blocks for a target completion of 2025.
My husband and I are considering doing this ourselves too. I know this sounds weird, but Im pretty sure are in the same city (I recognized the view immediately) and this was sooo helpful to us since we just bought a new build home as well.
Colorado Springs? I live in the foothills near Garden of the Gods and that view looks very much like Pikes Peak! My husband and I are going to build a tiered retaining wall in our backyard because it’s so sloped because of the mountains, and we want to do something like this too!
The first video did have some “awkward silence” in some spots. Missing some background music. I figured you’d catch it fairly quickly. Good job on the wall by the way.
Impressive to be able to life and move those blocks! Great job. Beautiful wall. Thank you.
Thank you! It was a lot of work, but totally worth it.
It looks fantastic! I love how much you saved by doing it as a diy. Adding the garden at the end was a great finishing touch.
Thanks so much! 😊

Thank you!! I keep saying I should be skinnier with all that work 🤣🤣 kidding I’m definitely stronger💪🏼

That is so FREAKING impressive!!
Wow
So happy for you and your family
Congratulations 🍾🎊🎈🎉
This looks great! I got tired just watching - I know how much work goes into these projects. I love that you did it yourself! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching

They don’t weigh 80lbs lol she would struggle to lift one block , which could be more than half her body weight. They weigh 40lbs lol

Very impressive. It is a lot of work and effort. You must be very proud of yourself after completing this wall!

Another amazing project from Brandi! We Love It!

Thank you!
What a great looking wall! I really love this!
Good Job and we love it!!!❤❤❤
My hat off to you...really nice job and it all looks great...👍
Thank you very much!
You dont use bonding between each level of stones?
she mentions a few times that these walls use gravity to hold them.
Thank you for sharing. I've been wanting to do something like this in our back yard.
thats's just amazing. I took a nap after watching it. You move about 10 tons. wow!
Love your work! Congrulations!
Wow, girl, great job! Inspiring! 💪
Looks great. You did a really good job with it.
Your explanation of everything was very helpful.
Great work!!
Looks good for sure!
Great work well done
Youll never learn anything from success...looks great!
Nice work! And thank you for filming.
Absolutely Amazing Work...
I have an area twice that length and was wondering if it was a possible DIY but now I know YES I CAN 🎉🎉🎉
Do you have an update on how your wall is holding up?

Oh I’m sorry! Everything should be linked in the description of this videoi also have it linked here liketk.it/3Nkfd
Amazing job. My back would be dead after this project but I'd still try to do it myself

Why isn't the drainage pipe draining during the rainstorm?
Best ever. ❤

You can do it! It’s doing great! I loved it so much we are adding another one around our diy pool
Nice work! Thank you for sharing. Did you have to put cement glue in between them to make them sturdy?
I did not because they are held in place by the lip on the back that locks onto the block below, I did use adhesive on the top row though
Thank you for Sharing!! Greetings from Oceania
Great video as always. You are some worker
Well done.
Thanks 👍
Proud of you
Good job. How many blacks did it take
With today's rate in 2023, you saved yourself $30,000 doing this on your own.
I used 126 today and my land scaper wanted $3,500 to build the wall. I ordered them for $370 delivered from lowes and had it built myself in one day. He was a one man operation, if you put that into an hourly rate he wanted somewhere in the $200 an hour range. That’s just disgusting.
@@reaper-sz5tmyou’ll regret it when you have to pay another guy $5000 to rebuild your broken wall when it falls apart 😂
Fantastic ❤
Looks great! Good job 👏 HOW much gravel did u have to buy for the base and backfill?
I want to say 4 yards but it’s been a while it was about a foot deep and then the 4 ft tall by 60ft long so 🫣
@Eternal Harvest Decor thank u I will be doing one just like this in my backyard
Also what brand blocks and size did u buy?
The base top using screening is better, i wander you use glue or not. Anyway great job.
Safety glasses! Stay safe. Great work on that wall
How many yards of gravel did you buy?
Well done !
Great job. About to tackle this as well
Loving it 🤩
thanks for watching

Yes they are 12” deep and then 16” wide and 6” high
Looks great! Did you do the grading and trenching for the retaining wall yourself? Excavator? shovel? Thanks!

Nice Work & Video 👍
Nice job!
Thanks!
I'm so impressed. Well done!
Good job!
What was the size of the bricks and how many did you get in a bundle?
Not sure how many come in a bundle but we had 275 blocks
How long did it take you to do this? 2 weeks, at 2 to 3 hours a days?
About a month
Not only did she save herself thousands of dollars she looks like she got herself into amazing shape. Now I need to show this to my wife and encourage her to do the same.

How many days you it takes to finish ?
I don’t really know haha I worked an hour here 20 min there for about 3 weeks so it’s hard to say. It’s a lot slower doing it by myself but 🤷🏻♀️
You are beautiful. GREAT job with the wall👌
Thank you! 🤗
Really you are great 👍
Nice Work...👍
Thanks ✌️
How long is the wall ?
65 ft
You rock. Wow
Not to many ladies take on a project like that. 👍
Ahh ok the key phrase is its not weight bearing... but still a great job... 😊❤
Looks awesome you're such a Bada**
You’re the best girl! Takes one to know one 😘❤️
Pretty sure you're my soul mate lol
Geez I wish I had a wife like her to help me with house projects
17k?? Wow I'd do it myself too!!
right? I know its a lot of labor and hard work so I get that but man I couldnt afford it.
Brandy you look good
Cute

haha yeah sometimes this posting stuff is complicated
jsut some constructive crit on your audio for you or your editor. apply a de-clicker please.
This is a pretty major retaining wall. I imagine even doing this yourself you spent a few thousand dollars.
Yep we totally did. We were quoted 15-17k and we spent about 4k
How cute u r looking 😘falls in love with u dear 🎉
The contractors are really crooks.
80 pound block ok you lost me there
