  • This is my Arduino Duemilanove hacking a Casio fx-95ms scientific calculator. Once hacked, the calculator can perform advanced operations that are not commonly available on these models of calculator, such as Complex number calculations and change of base.
After filming this, I switched the Arduino for a PIC 16F628A, so now I have a totally embedded system that can run on a single cr2032 3V lithium battery. I'll be making a PCB for this later.

That's what I were thinking about with my fx-82ms, but adding an Arduino Nano inside, with a 3,6V LiPo battery, a microUSB charger, and some stuff. The obvious problem is the space, but I think I can make some by removing some plastic reforces from inside.
    Good job mate.

A simple interface like that makes for a good counter, etc.....

@guypld1 If you open the calculator, you'll find that there are some solder pads labeled KXX where XX is a two digit number. When you short two of these pads, a keystroke will occur. You just have to find the combinations that will cause the keystrokes necessary for the hack. Then you have to solder some wires so that you can short the pads with the calculator closed, I used an old ribbon cable I had lying around. Once you have that, just use a couple 4066 and hook it up to the Arduino.

Well, i wrote that comment over a year ago! Actually, after you remember all the process, you can manage to do it very quickly. At least i can do that... and i don't watch something about it for loads of time... :) The "few buttons" thing were related to the work of hacking the casio and turn it mobile to anywhere.

I see what you did with the arduino and the keypad ribbon cable

Wow that's cool! I wonder if fx-es calcs can be controlled by Arduino Duemilanove? An fx-82es can be updated to an fx-991es by pressing some keys like that. btw, can the speed be controlled?

Hi.. Where you found the circuits and the software for arduino?

Do you know how to make this unlock permanently?
I've seen an fx-82ES unlocked by shortcutting a jumper.
Is a way to use a method like this in this model?

Nice, but the Arduino just automatice an existing hack

@datltq of course you can do it manually, but what's the fun in that?

@juanmacrack93 Oh, yeah sure... its very funny to go to places and you need to carry your computer plus your arduino board, full of wires connected to your calculator. While you can just press a few buttons to make it turn a 570-ms.
    Oh So fun... =S
