+TheTXWolfPack I thought about doing Uber as a side job but when you consider that you're spending your own car, gas, etc it just doesn't seem worth it.
+DR TEETH it wasn't. Plus, depending on the city, you have to invest in getting special licenses, and you get nickeled and dimed, not to mention you never know who you're letting into your car.
+TheTXWolfPack The people who make it profitable know when to drive and when to catch surge etc. I follow someone on youtube who makes a living doing it and does alright. I did look into it briefly not as a main job, but as some side income and decided its not worth it for me especially I'm working at my job at the most profitable times anyway. Also would need a new car can't justify that either.
+Worker On Demand bad people will do bad things whether you know who they are or not. Some may just not be smart enough to not realize that there are lots of ways to get caught. All I was trying to say is that for our family, über was not worth it and that there were times that my husband didn't always feel comfortable with certain passengers especially when they became belligerent. He's been in the marine corps for over a decade and knows how to defend himself and is very laid back, so for him to feel uncomfortable at times says a lot. However, some people drive for über, make enough money to suit their needs and never have any issues with passengers.
Uber doesn't pay that well. Basically you need a car that is just above the limit so youre looking at a car that has depreciated a lot. I can't believe some people get new cars and use Uber for them. You are destroying your cars life span for a silly low paying Job.
Yes many get a new car however, if used sole for uber it si def a good thing and some Uber driver do make good money like up 80-100k for 2021 in a few cases however and so yes if you use it for your business it is a good thing to get a new one so it can be depreciated.
I feel like a lot of people are lying about how much they make. There's no way this guy is making 50K wanting to switch over to Uber. Uber is something people do as kind of a way to supplement income on the fly.
Joe making 50k a year in Houston, Texas is nothing brag about. Plus, we don't know his financial status regarding what kind of payments he has or if he has a family to support as well.
Depending on the city you drive in. I drive in San Francisco Bay Area after work. I use there rent option with unlimited miles cost $200 a week but I make $1200 a week from uber.
I was thinking of doing this, Cristina. I live near downtown Detroit where there are baseball games at least once a month and every Friday, downtown has an event. Maybe I could consider this.
Bad idea, since you can get kicked out of the Uber Platform very easily. All it takes is a few non-5star ratings and you can't drive for them no more... it's not a very stable "job"...
When a car has been a liability? Car is money on wheels being depreciated every year. Dave is a joke and people ask silly questions. Uber is not a job and is a terrible idea work for them using your car
i do uber and im destroying my car. i just put 12K miles on my car just in the last 2 months. lease doesn't sound bad. id rather beat down on someone else car
+LucasLand I think that a leased car will probably have a mileage stipulation. You'd be better off getting a used car that still meets uber requirements.
+Prince Nurse That lease program includes tire rotations and oil which are pretty minor when you think of all the maintenance a used car doing high mileage needs. I think you're still better off buying a car outright yourself. Even if you put a lot of miles on the car you still own something at the end of the day. A used car like a honda fit etc is best I think.
don't forget, lease cars can't go over 36,000 miles and you do its 25 cents a mile . you wanna lease , lease an 18 wheeler, go get a class A and hual them loads. lease a car, OMG. what were u thinking. Hello time to upgrade to a newer car, you can buy a nice car for 8K. he just don't want to spend money to make money
And since Uber doesn't allow you to do that, you'd have to be pretty desperate to drive for Uber, period, except as a cost-reduction method for commutes that you plan to take anyways.
Lol its actually a valid argument, if your lease is $100 a month and you make $2k a month on Uber then it's perfect. Buying a new or newer car just to severely depreciate it doing Uber is ridiculous. You literally just lost all the money you made and added new debt.
If I were this guy id just sell one of the cars not the truck! Rangers are killer. Get a full time job while your side hustle marketing business grows.
How does a guy who listens to Dave "daily" call with a question about leasing? lol..he hates it
six years later and Uber is still going strong. Dave's advice is not always the best.
Should I lease?
No
Dave - straight, no chaser
My husband did uber for a while and it was never worth it. Especially not at the expense of leasing a car. No way!
+TheTXWolfPack I thought about doing Uber as a side job but when you consider that you're spending your own car, gas, etc it just doesn't seem worth it.

Well the gas and car is a tax write off.

Use to pay well until the shareholders became valtures

If you listened then you'd of heard him say he wants to do Uber to supplement his income...
its amazing how people ask dave for advice but try and argue his solution.
Cameron Mitchell no it's not. if you just blindly do what he tells you when it sounds foolish then you're the fool.
They're trying to process it since Dave Ramsey rarely confirms their beliefs which, for the most part, is never in agreement with Ramsey's beliefs.
Depending on the city you drive in. I drive in San Francisco Bay Area after work. I use there rent option with unlimited miles cost $200 a week but I make $1200 a week from uber.
Are speaking of Lyft that rents out cars? I saw their site that metnions this.
I was thinking of doing this, Cristina. I live near downtown Detroit where there are baseball games at least once a month and every Friday, downtown has an event. Maybe I could consider this.
True
Bad idea, since you can get kicked out of the Uber Platform very easily. All it takes is a few non-5star ratings and you can't drive for them no more... it's not a very stable "job"...
Go with Lyft they'll take older cars
Dave is a JOKE!!
Leasing a car would make the car an expense rather than the car being a liability
When a car has been a liability? Car is money on wheels being depreciated every year. Dave is a joke and people ask silly questions. Uber is not a job and is a terrible idea work for them using your car
"Yeah, but" "Yeah, but" "Yeah, but" Dude, you're NOT going to convince Dave to recommend leasing a car.
i do uber and im destroying my car. i just put 12K miles on my car just in the last 2 months. lease doesn't sound bad. id rather beat down on someone else car

+Cdogvlog 55 unlimited mileage with uber leasing program.
+Prince Nurse I don't know much about it. For me would depend on the terms of the lease. You would need to drive it a lot to justify.
+Cdogvlog 55 Check this link it goes into very good detail therideshareguy.com/how-to-get-the-best-deal-with-the-xchange-leasing-program-on-uber/

tabor48 Cost of lease, gas, insurance, taxs, maintenance etc. Doesn't seem worth it.
I get free insurance, maintenance and no mileage cap
Messiah38 Seems like a good deal.
A car free and clear title is the only way Uber works out. The wear and tear on your car is horrible.
Why leave a vehicle for Uber when you can go out and buy a decent use vehicle straight cash.
Lyft is better than Uber
lyft want me to pay them for background checks.
@@Messiah38 they don't currently.
Please leasing only give you so many miles and Uber required miles like crazy
I love how logical you are. Mr Dave
When people call Dave Ramsey to ask him if they should lease a car....
When you lease a car now a days you agree to not do uber
Uber in a minimum wage job after expenses at best. You have to be brain dead to do that job with anything more than a beater $1000 car.
And since Uber doesn't allow you to do that, you'd have to be pretty desperate to drive for Uber, period, except as a cost-reduction method for commutes that you plan to take anyways.
Fun fact: in 2024 Uber requires 2008 car or newer for regular Uber driving...
UBER in Atlanta requires year 2000 or newer, so his paid off cars would work for here. May be that way in Houston now.
Uber is inconsistent for sure. I know I drive.
Lyft is leasing cars out to drivers! What do you people out there think of this?
worst idea ever.
Without watching the video just big No
Just lease a car from dealership to uber.
Uber should advertise with Dave
+sidharth chand They were for a while, but I don't recall hearing anything recently.
Im From NYC. Uber drivers makes money. 5 day’s you’ll make $1700. Not bad. NYC best place to drive because New york is a cash cow!
Yeah but NY is a very expensive place to live. Therefore NY is both a cash cow and a money pit.
Use the car but use your family's car that might be with the guide lines
I don't think Dave would ever agree to a lease.
Did anyone catch the ghost walking across the show.. 😮
Brian Quinones when?
Lol its actually a valid argument, if your lease is $100 a month and you make $2k a month on Uber then it's perfect. Buying a new or newer car just to severely depreciate it doing Uber is ridiculous. You literally just lost all the money you made and added new debt.
show me where you are getting an unlimited mileage lease for 100$ a month. ill wait.
Uber is 💩💩
if you going to do uber, get a preix, save on gas,
If I were this guy id just sell one of the cars not the truck! Rangers are killer. Get a full time job while your side hustle marketing business grows.
and now Dace endorse uber
Why?
Lol
