AFK Journey is the highly anticipated sequel to AFK arena and whilst it does share a few similarities AFK Journey is a significantly different game as it feels more like an open world isometric RPG that also has a whole new layer of strategic combat depth with its battle grid system.
AFK Journey is supported on both PC and Mobile with the PC version which we’re going to be playing today having a full screen mode with WASD movement.
In this game you play as the legendary mage Merlin and play through a fully voice acted story which has you seamlessly traverse the vibrant open world of Esperia, along the way you’ll collect heroes of various factions and classes to form multiple powerful teams to take on bosses, solve puzzles, equip with epic gear and level up as you explore multiple biomes, dungeons and minigames.
Similar to its predecessor AFK Journey also has an AFK system where you claim rewards whilst you’re away, there’s a light social system where you’ll see other players out in the world, join guilds, partake in PVP, clear the arcane labyrinth as well as receive generous rewards with weekly in game events.

@Pam234 it's not enough. You need to make every possible chance you get to tell the consumer/viewer it is sponsored. It's standard business practice (and youtube policy) to say it's an ad on the video by something like "this video is sponsored by x" and then repeat that in the description and pinned comment. This guy knows what he is doing. His whole channel is literally just sponsored content he's not making clear to the viewer

I'll probably never play this but honestly? Looks good. Sure, it's not gonna be as enjoyable as an actual game made for pc but I kinda appreciate the fact that they made something new and unique with all that money they gained from the first game instead of just creating more and more items in the cash shop and making the game more and more impossible to play without paying for some upgrades. That's literally what 99% of mobile game developers do so it's kinda refreshing to see someone try something new.

@@Concerned_one and also journey is a lot more open worlded (that’s not a word but) as in there are areas you have to actively explore in order to do stuff, while AFK Arena was a lot simpler and you can actually be afk a lot more
I feel like I’m going to like this game more than afk arena, mostly cause I don’t have to worry about fusing characters to make higher rarity, always feel like I have to choose who I can keep and who becomes material, this game will let me have all my characters and play how i want ❤

Played AFK Arena for quite a while too. Was very fun. Look forward to trying out Journey, simply looks like an improvement of Arena.
These games are huge wastes of time. They're designed to milk people of their money. They have no real strategy or fun to them, just an endless loop of "wait or pay us!" until you realize how pointless the whole thing was months later.

After playing Dislyte/AFK Arena/Call of Dragons Lilith will follow the same predatory pattern. Will be very ftp or low spend for roughly six months. A truly great game to play. Once everybody is hooked they start the shakedown and squeeze all the money they can out of everyone and ruin the game. Then they release another one and the cycle repeats. You would have to spend thousands of dollars to keep up. At the end of the cycle everyone feels bad whether you spend or not.
Thats every gacha game, thats how the industry has worked for years, you either buy into it, or stop playing mobile games for more than a few weeks per game. (there are good games you can play for years F2P and still have fun, but they are getting harder to find.

I remember eons ago that I played AFK Arena on my phone because I like the Artstyle but when Meta characters and powercrept became normal, I uninstalled it. I could see that would be an issue on this one as well.
Some are hit or miss, but they generally have to power creep to keep the game interesting. However they just added 2 new power creep systems in rapid succession and they are actively terrible and not well received. Many players are publicly quitting. It seems like Lilith is focusing on journey rather than arena.
I've watched you for years Peon, however this felt fake, forced and dishonest throughout.
I used to play AFK Arena too and I played it heavily.
What made me stop was the big issue of upgrading Heroes/Champions felt nearly impossible at a certain point and your characters feeling outclassed, so you felt like having to go for another Hero/Champion but already wasted so much time on others and catch up felt impossible.
The droprates felt abysmal with beeing 4,61% for an Epic hero and then you still got the chance to get one out of 49 (at the point I quit) so getting the one you need was a measly 0,0461% chance during each draw.
How is that issue in AFK Journey?

Another game with 50 heroes to "upgrade" and endless microtransactions... just what I needed more in my life.
For your information you only need to upgrade 5 Characters and everyone will Be at same level as the highest character(if you have played nikke you know) And they are almost giving every character for free there's no need to reroll as in 30 pulls you're guaranteed 2 ssr quit f2p friendly game

Loved arena, unfortunately I quit because eventually you have to be extra lucky to get the same character enough to be able to level them up to fight the enemies mid-game
Looks interesting but I play Genshin and for a mobile game that has world exploration, it's hard to beat that game. Not even Star Rail comes close.

totally agree, Genshin's exploration is stellar, was my favourite part of the game back when I was playing. I do find the comparison to Star Rail sort of irrelevant and far-fetched though. Star Rail isn't Genshin, these games are too different in their gameplay mechanics to be effectively compared with each other. What one lacks, other has, and vise versa.
Genshin is overrated

I don't have that kinda attachment to star rail which I have with genshin even though I play both regularly.
i played AFK arena for almost a year and spent a ton on it during my gatcha phase. i try to avoid any gatcha games now, but the art in this is just so cool !!!! plus i kinda miss brutus hehe.. i'll maybe give it a try.

Mmmh... why when people make reviews they do not start by saying if it's entirely free that you don't have to pay to get out of a zone, or level up heroes, or get advanced magic or armor, or weapons? etc. etc. etc.?
I feel your review lacking a lot of information, another important information would be to let people know if installing the game will also install some sort of advertising, or if you will be mailed things to your email, or if it will conflict with other programs you may have installed.
I mean a game review should also include all these things to be a complete game review, otherwise people who may be interested in trying it out may end up having problems uninstalling them because the "free to play" is not so free at all, and because it may cause problems with your device (PC for instance) and any other programs a person may have installed and use them for work, such as Adobe, AE, etc.
If you can do another tutorial an include all these answers then I'll give you a thumbs up and spend the time watching the entire video.

The fundeamental problem with any "game" that has an automatic battle/play feature is that you remove player agency. Why would a player care one iota about the plot or characters if they're not investing their own time into it. You're effectively saying that player participation is unimportant, and at that point, you may as well just be watching a movie.
Maybe the target audience is not people that care about "agency". Some people don't have much time to spend on gaming, and this is exactly the kind of experience these people are after. If it's not your thing then just ignore it. It's only a problem if you make it one.

I don't know if it's worth playing but the original sound track “Edge of the World" (Colm R. McGuinness, Cody Matthew Johnson ft. Lauren Babic) is definitely worth listening to.

I'm honestly torn on supporting this video. I realize by commenting anything, I'm supporting it. But I too spent over 1.5 years in AFK arena... And I dumped a ton of money on it... but of all the Gacha-esk money sinks I've played... AFL (Absolute Waste of Lifespan) Arena, I have no real fond memories outside of the first month or two until they sandbagged the progress to the point where you either have to pay, or just have the patience of a saint.

i quit the game after 2 years because it was eating up too much time and had gotten boring

AFK Arena was pretty fun. I just wish that mobile games stopped with the false/cringe advertising. It sucks more when a game is actually good but you find out they've actively pushed people away with blatant false advertising.
Is It Worth Playing? well if i remember the other video i just came from, i would say no its not, i want to play and have fun with the games i play, going Afk is boring because its a 100% expected to get a high level while playing is fun and unexpected because its not a 100% win

Lilith games made an empire building game called Art of Conquest some years ago, there was a mini game that resembles AFK Journey a lot. It seems they took that mini game and expanded on it to create another game. Yet, knowing Lilith Games this is bound to be riddled with microtransactions.
