    You're never too early to have the first cooking show, James Beard did it at the right time decade.

    James wasn't bad with an audience. He was a bad fit for conservative mid-century America. Today he would be a hit.

    We had a James Beard coffee table book and several cookbooks when I was a kid growing up. I made a few of his recipes as a teen.

    "Gigi" was the nickname of her and her husband, not beard.

      I wonder... "J" is pronounced "jhee" in French, which would be the first initials of Julia and James; thus, GiGi. Not of Paul's... Any source to offer us? Thanks.
