Elvis: Sun Showdown - FTD A Boy From Tupelo and Prodigy Of Sun Records Book Unboxing

- In this episode I compare and contrast 'A Boy From Tupelo' by Ernst Jorgensen (Follow That Dream) and 'Elvis: Prodigy of Sun Records' by Erik Lorentzen and Robert Van Beek (KJ Consulting) - two books which focus on Elvis's time at Sun Records.
*I never actually got around to naming the unreleased track which appeared on the Legacy 3-CD set but not on the CDs included with the book. It was a newly-discovered recording of “I Forgot To Remember To Forget” (from the Louisiana Hayride, Shreveport, Louisiana, October 29, 1955) - which was officially released for the first time.
Too bad these books are to expensive for me. Like to see your reviews. Thanks!
Yes, they can be very pricey, but I'm glad to be able to share them and give at least a feel for what they're about to anyone who may not be in a position to own them. I'm pleased you're enjoying the reviews 👍🏻
I've got the small version of ' a boy from tupelo ' and never really felt the need to get the others, but then again I did buy more for the music but those are great books.
Luv the show.
The music's more important than anything when all's said and done. Glad you're enjoying 👍🏻
Me too, happy with the small one,
Totally agreed on the Prodigy of Sun book compilation. Such things turn me off. A shame. My go is also A Boy from Tupelo by Ernst Jorgensen.
Have the Sony RCA legacy also. Thanks for this showing. Take care and till next time.
Great to know it's not just me! 🙂 take care

great video my friend Elvis: Sun Records Showdown - FTD
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Keep up cool video
Excellent video. This is the one area where I've stuck to my self imposed limits. I do collect the FTD books and books detailing Elvis releases in different parts of the world but for the most part I don't have a deep interest in other books. I did buy the Prodigy of Sun disc as a stand alone item.
Thank you Thomas 👍🏻 it's definitely wise to set limits, or it becomes impossible to keep up.
Got the boy from Tupelo book and glad I got it when I did as books are becoming so expensive, great review
The prices can get silly, can't they? Then suddenly someone will get lucky and pick up an absolute bargain - never seems to be me though! Glad you enjoyed 👍🏻
@@sincerelyelvispresley would love to see a review on the now boxse
@JohnBull14 the new one? sure, I can do that. I have a few weeks already uploaded and scheduled, and then I'm thinking of focussing on particular years and associated releases, starting with 68. I can definitely incorporate that one when I get to 72.
Another great video.👍
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed 🙂
Graceland might be going up for sale but the 23rd May date for the auction has been postponed as Riley's sent a counter claim saying Lisa didn't borrow 3.8M and papers produced claiming she did are fraudulent.
Yeah, I saw that, but it seems as though someone somewhere is trying to pull a scam. They'll never let that happen. The estate could easily afford to pay that amount if it was a genuine claim, which I doubt very much !
I think overall, Erik does nice job with the books, but I do agree with the unnecessary content. I'm fan of the Elvis files books tho. They good. And of course FTD is the main thing.
I'd agree to a point. I love the Elvis Files series and at least 5 other Lorentzen books, including the fabulous Ultimate Elvis set, are right up there with the very best, but I really think in recent times he's gone off the boil and needs someone objective to suggest that throwing everything into a title isn't the best way. The That's The Way It Is volumes are a good example - it didn't need 5 books. I'll be getting around to most of his titles eventually 🙂
@@sincerelyelvispresley Good to hear. Great stuff!
My biggest issue with Erik’s books is all the grammar errors. They are everywhere, and I wish they had checked this before they printed the books.
This is a problem with many of his books.
It also looks like they have used some kind of AI to enhance some of the pictures. I rather see them as they are, with scratches and faults, the AI stuff just don’t look right.
Couldn't agree more, his books aren't the worst for grammatical errors, but they're up there. And don't get me started on AI 'enhanced' photos 🤣 I'm thinking of dedicating a whole episode to the ever-inceasing roster of freak show Elvis book covers which are being foisted on the unsuspecting public
@@sincerelyelvispresleysame here, I would rather see original photos, warts and all, not airbrushed photos😮
Excellent video, thanks for going to that effort with all the books and records❤
@@Patracat no problem Gina, happy you enjoyed it 🙂
Both nice books. I do like the boy from Tupelo better.
