Just wanted to add a basic correction; the scenario of Wesker's death in the novel is actually based on the original video game; in Jill's campaign in the original Playstation game, if you dare rush to the self-destruct room after the timer activates, you'll find a chimera standing over Wesker's dead body, and if you kill it and examine the body, Jill will say something like "what a pitiful death". So, that's what S.D Perry based her ending off.

What I enjoyed the most about the book is when we're in Wesker's headspace. Even in his point of view he is often hard to read at times unless he is frustrated and angry. He is determined to maintain a calm demeanor in order to maintain control. But despite this, he gives passing thoughts of admiration to his team for surviving despite him trying to interfere. One of the more interesting parts of the book is when he is about to meet his demise and his attitude towards them becomes more petty, cursing Barry, calling Jill a thief bitch and completely losing his mind saying "nah I'm still in control" even when he's being ripped apart.
I still remember the classic "Stupid assholes took my gun" line lol. The books were definitely an interesting read and did a good job at getting into the characters' heads. I really like what SD Perry did with Barry's character as well, constantly showing his moral conflict and self-hatred over having to betray his comrades and establishing him as a dedicated family man who dearly loves his wife and daughters.

If you've played the Wesker mode on Umbrella Chronicles he explains that the virus in his system did not kick in until AFTER he was "killed". Canonically, that was by a Tyrant but it would still apply to the alternate scenario.

I remember reading the novels almost 20 years ago, underworld being one of my favs. So in the game there is a researchers notebook mentioning on a "skinned gorilla" they fed them some animal playing with it before devouring it.When I read that for the first time as a kid I thought that was the hunter they were talking about,not the chimera.

Wesker actually does get killed by a chimera next to the self-destruct mechanism in the game, if you're playing as Jill and achieve the good ending. You have to go all the way over there while the alarms are blaring to find out about it, though: his corpse is laying on the ground next to the triggering mechanism, and a chimera is standing next to it. If you examine him, Jill muses that it was a pathetic way to die. There's no indication that the Tyrant was involved; that was artistic license on Perry's part. Her attention to detail in the novels was pretty impressive, even though she made a flub or two here and there in the later books as her passion for the project seemed to be flagging. Basically, he dies no matter what campaign you're on, but his end in Jill's good ending is different than in Chris's campaign.
Honestly, Chimeras are one of the freakiest enemies in the whole series: it's a shame they never really appeared beyond the original RE. I'm replaying it as part of the Origins collection now, and I have to admit it's a pant-shitting moment when they just grab you by the neck while they're dangling from the ceiling.
Actually, if you go to the room where the self destruct console is after it's been activated you can find Wesker laying dead by the control panel seemingly killed by the Chimera (aka "Mesh Monkies" as they're known in the novel) in the area, in the original anyway. I don't remember if that happens in the REmake.

The Barry/Jill ending you mentioned where Wesker slipped away and triggers the self-destruct. You said you don't find out what happened to him. But, if you go out of your way to check the Chimera room, you can find his dead body with a few of the Chimera near him. I think this novel adaption covered a plausible scenario for how it went down, but it's totally in the game.
When I first beat Resident Evil back then I do remember being bummed out when Wesker dies. I thought Wesker was cool and the twist at the end was unexpected and interesting. I still thought he was cool. Then I was reading in a video game magazine that Resident Evil: Code Veronica was due to be released and Albert Wesker is back. I was like "What? How?" The story about his rebirth or re-entry was not that interesting. It just seemed artificial and that Wesker wasn't even really alive again. I think it said that an S Corporation found Wesker's corpse and brought him back to life with a virus or something. Once Resident Evil 0 and The Resident Evil remake were released I figured that Capcom brought Wesker back because he was just too popular, too interesting and too badA$$ of a character to just kill off like that in one game. Wesker's story is a bit much at times but he is still my favorite Resident Evil character. "Matrix movement" Wesker in Resident Evil 5 is a bit too Grey Fox from Metal Gear Solid for me.

After you leave the sub level 3 basement, go to the Power Room and where you turned on the elevator generator. There's a Chimera standing over Wesker. As far as I know this only shows up in the original version of RE1 not the remake.

I need to re read those books now. They were among my favorites in high school, I always wanted to see either a film or game adaptation of Caliban Cove and Underworld.
I have been, off and on, working on an idea to submit to Netflix. Of course I'm just a nobody so it'll probably never get anywhere, but I'm aiming for a horror/conspiracy feel with a fleshed out story.
Wesker needed to live a proper antagonist makes you burn with anger and evokes a sense of indignation. This best achieved by having some atrocities come unchecked. So, I'm glad he survived as long as he did but is death in the game series was anticlimactic.
You know in the original resident evil you can find wesker dead in the self destruction room based off of the choices you make during Chris campaign. This here explains how he got there.
Possible ways Wesker can return to future Resident Evil Games. [1] Wesker in RE5 was a clone and the real Wesker is alive (Would explain the strange shift in his character for that game) [2] Wesker did die in RE5 but he has backup clones (Honestly if we're doing the clone theory I say number 1 is more likely) [3] Wesker is dead but due to the new direction Capcom is taking, It is possible we will see him in remakes or prequels. When I say prequels I'm talking about events that take place between Resident evil 1 & 5, honestly theres a lot of potential for good spin off games in those parts of the timeline.
Actually if you're playing as Jill in the original PS1 version and gone back to the power room, you'll discover Wesker's "corpse" with a Chimera (even if you clear all the Chimera's at the nearby rooms, 1 will Spawn) near him
I love all your RE vids man! But If I remember correctly, I think if you revisit the Power room after the self destruct sequence is activated, you find the body of Wesker laid out, presumed killed by the Chimeras. Its been a minute since I played the original.

I absolutely loved the books! That’s why I chose Leon for my first run in RE2. The novel City of the Dead, Leon fights William while Claire Fights The Tyrant.
I only ever got the first 4 or 5 novels. I was so let down by Wesker's fate to be honest. Still enjoyed the books, but it's also been 10+ years since I read them. I'm not sure they will hold up to my current standards on rereading them...
PeacefulJoint cuz it was the first Resident Evil game to have no idea boxes. You had to discard items and you had very little inventory space also the grenade launcher shotgun took two slots. Those are things I pretty much hate about Resident Evil 0 but other than that it's a good game.

PeacefulJoint I know Resident Evils had its fair share of plot holes. There's a file in Resident Evil 3 at the office where you go get the green Crystal it says that the military blockade all the roads leading to Raccoon City but yet Claire and Leon got to Raccoon City with no barricades at all. Plus they had to do something for Resident Evil Zero they could have just sent like the same old enemies you have to make some new fresh stuff to make the game interesting but yeah the enemies in Resident Evil 0 are kind of boring but it shows what type of experiments umbrella was doing.

That is a really cool scene at the beginning with Chris & Wesker. I've played through the remake a lot with both characters and I don't think I ever saw this version of this cutscene on any of my Chris playthroughs. Pretty neat.
As I've said many times to everyone and I'll say it again. The Real Wesker only appeared before the actual events of RE5 in the DLC Lost in Nightmares. Cloning is as real as the heroes and monsters in the R.E. universe displayed by Albert's sister and himself. You really think he'd fight in a manner like that in the game? I think not. Well the interesting thing; in the Director's Cut after you face the Tyrant in the lab. (playing as Jill and Barry lives) Going back to the room with the computer that activates the elevator. You will find this room with 4 chimera and Wesker dead on the floor right next to the self destruct device. I never played the absolute original Resident Evil to know if this is on the original or was exclusive to the Director's Cut version.
The Baker Family from Resident Evil 7, have nothing on Albert Wesker. I mean I hate, both of them. But Wesker was more, of a serious villain. As for The Baker Family oh gosh, they are villains you can't take seriously. If Wesker gotten into a feud, with The Baker Family. Even though Wesker, is a villain. Actually, if you go to the room where the self destruct console is after it's been activated you can find Wesker laying dead by the control panel seemingly killed by the Chimera (aka "Mesh Monkies" as they're known in the novel) in the area, in the original anyway. I don't remember if that happens in the REmake.

The Barry/Jill ending you mentioned where Wesker slipped away and triggers the self-destruct. You said you don't find out what happened to him. But, if you go out of your way to check the Chimera room, you can find his dead body with a few of the Chimera near him. I think this novel adaption covered a plausible scenario for how it went down, but it's totally in the game.
When I first beat Resident Evil back then I do remember being bummed out when Wesker dies. I thought Wesker was cool and the twist at the end was unexpected and interesting. I still thought he was cool. Then I was reading in a video game magazine that Resident Evil: Code Veronica was due to be released and Albert Wesker is back. I was like "What? How?" The story about his rebirth or re-entry was not that interesting. It just seemed artificial and that Wesker wasn't even really alive again. I think it said that an S Corporation found Wesker's corpse and brought him back to life with a virus or something. Once Resident Evil 0 and The Resident Evil remake were released I figured that Capcom brought Wesker back because he was just too popular, too interesting and too badA$$ of a character to just kill off like that in one game. Wesker's story is a bit much at times but he is still my favorite Resident Evil character. "Matrix movement" Wesker in Resident Evil 5 is a bit too Grey Fox from Metal Gear Solid for me.
Nice video! Also you can see the demise of Wesker after he activates the Triggering System. After you leave the sub level 3 basement, go to the Power Room and where you turned on the elevator generator. There's a Chimera standing over Wesker. As far as I know this only shows up in the original version of RE1 not the remake.

I have been, off and on, working on an idea to submit to Netflix. Of course I'm just a nobody so it'll probably never get anywhere, but I'm aiming for a horror/conspiracy feel with a fleshed out story.

Wesker needed to live a proper antagonist makes you burn with anger and evokes a sense of indignation. This best achieved by having some atrocities come unchecked. So, I'm glad he survived as long as he did but is death in the game series was anticlimactic.

Possible ways Wesker can return to future Resident Evil Games.
[1] Wesker in RE5 was a clone and the real Wesker is alive (Would explain the strange shift in his character for that game)
[2] Wesker did die in RE5 but he has backup clones (Honestly if we're doing the clone theory I say number 1 is more likely)
[3] Wesker is dead but due to the new direction Capcom is taking, It is possible we will see him in remakes or prequels.
When I say prequels I'm talking about events that take place between Resident evil 1 & 5, honestly theres a lot of potential for good spin off games in those parts of the timeline.
Or there could be a RE 5 Remakes?
Actually if you're playing as Jill in the original PS1 version and gone back to the power room, you'll discover Wesker's "corpse" with a Chimera (even if you clear all the Chimera's at the nearby rooms, 1 will Spawn) near him

I love all your RE vids man! But If I remember correctly, I think if you revisit the Power room after the self destruct sequence is activated, you find the body of Wesker laid out, presumed killed by the Chimeras. Its been a minute since I played the original.

I only ever got the first 4 or 5 novels. I was so let down by Wesker's fate to be honest. Still enjoyed the books, but it's also been 10+ years since I read them. I'm not sure they will hold up to my current standards on rereading them...

PeacefulJoint cuz it was the first Resident Evil game to have no idea boxes. You had to discard items and you had very little inventory space also the grenade launcher shotgun took two slots. Those are things I pretty much hate about Resident Evil 0 but other than that it's a good game.

You wanna tell me the events of zero took place in less than an hour? Also I find having to babysit an NPC leads me to using more ammo and health items then I would normally. I think the new enemies are boring. Giant Centipede, Giant scorpion, Giant bat, giant leech.
PeacefulJoint I know Resident Evils had its fair share of plot holes. There's a file in Resident Evil 3 at the office where you go get the green Crystal it says that the military blockade all the roads leading to Raccoon City but yet Claire and Leon got to Raccoon City with no barricades at all. Plus they had to do something for Resident Evil Zero they could have just sent like the same old enemies you have to make some new fresh stuff to make the game interesting but yeah the enemies in Resident Evil 0 are kind of boring but it shows what type of experiments umbrella was doing.
@shadow Shinobi1988; Man, you should try to get your hands on that RE0 novel too! I never were much of a book reader until I got the novels, and I don't think I've ever read a full book from back to front as fast as I did with those novels. Great novels and I highly recommend them to all RE fans.

That is a really cool scene at the beginning with Chris & Wesker. I've played through the remake a lot with both characters and I don't think I ever saw this version of this cutscene on any of my Chris playthroughs. Pretty neat.

Well the interesting thing; in the Director's Cut after you face the Tyrant in the lab. (playing as Jill and Barry lives) Going back to the room with the computer that activates the elevator. You will find this room with 4 chimera and Wesker dead on the floor right next to the self destruct device. I never played the absolute original Resident Evil to know if this is on the original or was exclusive to the Director's Cut version.
The Baker Family from Resident Evil 7, have nothing on Albert Wesker. I mean I hate, both of them. But Wesker was more, of a serious villain. As for The Baker Family oh gosh, they are villains you can't take seriously. If Wesker gotten into a feud, with The Baker Family. Even though Wesker, is a villain. He would probably be the baby face, in this feud. And The Baker Family, would be the heels.
The Baker family in RE7 were more like victims than actually being villains, in my opinion. They were changed by the infection, but Wesker, he had a evil agenda while still being human. With that said, I would stay far away from all of them though LOL!
the bakers werent villains, they were innocent victims controlled by eve. the only acception is louis, who was an asshole well before eve as a child. he also was never under the control of eve the entire time but gained her powers anyway.
that being said, wesker is also a victim in a way. he was completely robbed of his childhood and was an experiment by spencers research for immortality.

I had hoped that he was Ustanak in Resident Evil 6 but it turns out he was actually a former employee of Dr. Carla Radames and not a rebuilt Albert Wesker.
