He actually enjoys her company, he has two lines where he's excited at the prospect that merlin is at chaldea after all, who knows why proto merlin is avoiding him, but it probably has to do with her own nature as a potential beast and that the merlin from the myth was supposed to be the antichrist before being baptized.
