Andy Snitzer ... beautiful rich sound on tenor and soprano ... a masterful improvisational technique that is very very interesting both melodically and harmonically and always suited to the music ... and fun to watch! My favorite sax player of these times .... Check out his awesome solo on Take the A train with the Manhattan Jazz Quintet ..
Amazing! I was to have Andy Snitzer play on some of my music years ago at Carriage House Studios up in Stamford, CT. I still write and arrange, and live in Milwaukee. Keep up the great music!!
What a bass tone. Sounds like some otherworldly upright/electric hybrid. Zev was my number one influence and got me interested in electric back around 1990.
@mattissurf you are right. i must say i am biased though.nothing compares with a big fat walking double bass.imagine scott la faro stood there.just a thought# i love this group very talented group of guys.lovely sound.nice arrangement.
The best version I heard of Lullaby of Birdland was on a disk called "Giants of Jazz". If only I could find the CD! (oh wait, id need a CD player, lol)
cade, this is from a long time ago. played a eugene rousseau at this time. www.amazon.com/Eugene-Rousseau-ER20057-Saxophone-Mouthpiece/dp/B000T04A5C best, andy
Found this group by accident. As a tenor player I must say the saxophones on every cut are outstanding
Can't get this soprano tone out my head, I've been singing the 9th - 12th bars of the melody ALL day !!
That fretless bass is tearing it up!
Five strings at that!
Great Sound!! Great group playing this song!!! keep on playing great songs!!
This is Organic Real Jazz - cool, smooth and soothing.

It has always been a fantastic tune, thanks to the great George Shearing.

Awesome.

Arrangement! Stars.
Nice tie Andy ...
Beautiful arrangement and well performed. Elegant. A stand up bass sounds better.
Grazie a tutti .Chissa come l'avrebbe suonata il grande BIRD ?
wow....
niceeeeeee
pretty good...sounds more like something played in a clean, well-lit ballroom than than something jazzed out in an after-hours smoker club, though >.>
Great! Is there a score online of this arrangement?
Why does the pianist solo with his left hand?
He's left-handed? Just a wild guess.

He's left-handed? Just a wild guess.
Looks like his right hand suffers from R A.
