Thank you for the intesting upload. I am looking for a thin insole to provide the correct support (i have flat arches) for my carbon speed skate inline shoe.... Solestar have recommended the BLK insole as they are the thinnest + strongest.....
I have used the sole star black, I don’t like the way the surface of the insole grips the sock.......it feels totally unnatural and uncomfortable to me
cool video and very helpful! Can you recommend the normal s-works 7 road shoe for flat/wide feet? (probably combined with one of the support insoles from specialized or with a solestar blk) I've already tried the wide version, but they're far too wide..
I have the sworks7 with the specialized ++ (medium arch support) insoles. The toe box is nice and wide; I have a slightly wider than average foot. There's no space issue when combined with the insole.
I have 3mm shims under my cleats because my right leg is shorter. And I have 1 wedge Wy must I remove these if i use solestar insoles?they recommend it
I ride the s works sub six and love it. But regarding these sole stars. I wonder if there is a way you can test them to see what they would do around the 300 watt range. Perhaps go flat out 20 minutes then 3 days later do the same, perhaps bench mark things to heart rate and see if you can pull some sort of quantifiable (or close to it) data for watt %increase when dealing in the ftp range. I've heard of these, I think sky uses them, and I've considered getting them.
@@ronykubaquestion for you little late to this video but I have problem where my ankle rolls in and strikes crank arm of bike. How are the Arch support on these Solestars? Looking at these or G8’s insoles.
@Ronald, any chance you had tried any fizik (e.g r1)shoes, how does that compares to your sub6 shoes? I was into the direction of buying fizik knit series but it may change bcoz of this video? any insight will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I have the SWorks S7 and have also added my own insoles but the shoes are so stiff, I really don’t think a stif or soft insole will make any difference. The shoe is not bending... Unless you mean you lose power because the insoles are soft and compresses?
I bought the same insole for my S-Works Ares shoes a month ago. Unfortunately it made the shoe tighter and I had been experiencing foot numbness after ca. 30 minutes riding on my bike. I then replaced it with original one and it was remarkably better. I think it may be a problem with shoes or with the arch hight of my foot. I do not think one insole would fit all foot shapes und arch hights
I bought the mid-level Solestar insoles based on your recommendation, as I had been experiencing foot problems for over half a year, up to the point where I was fearing my season to be over. I had already come to the conclusion that my problems were probably related to the bending of my foot inside the shoe. Whay can I say, the Solestar insoles cured all that. So here’s a big THANK YOU for the recommendation. Also on long rides, no problems anymore. Based on this video I might consider upgrading to the top-level Solestars in the future. As for comfort, I’m an endurance rider, but my discomfort was caused by too much flexing of the shoe, so the increased stiffness of the Solestars provided me with more comfort instead of less, so it might be the black ones even further improve the comfort in my case.

140 Euro for a pair of insoles. Wow.
Yeah lol
Did you adjust your saddle height when using the SOLESTAR?
No

I agree. I wrote to them about it, they advised that’s the intention. Totally uncomfortable! A shame, the shape is good.
Been using Solestar since 2018 - absolutely superb insole.
Thx for the review. I've also found the Kontrol to be great. I'm looking forward to a long term review of the BLK.
I have pretty flat/bad feet but the s works shoes have really been great.
Yep, very good all-around
I dont have any problems with my shoes but this review makes me curious if I just could feel even better in the shoes with this product.
Might be personal, but for me they're a winner
I tried the Solestars myself, but they would really need to be custom, as they don't do much for medium to high arches.
Why is that?
@@rayms3948 The default ones just don't go high enough in the middle of your foot.

You say that the black ones aren't ideal for endurance rides but aren't races endurance rides? I don't understand.
Not at all
@@ronykuba so sitting on a bike for 4 5 6 hours is not endurance?

I would think that only applies to the wedge

Good suggestion, but I think it would be extremely difficult to quantify anything outside of a lab

@@tony5269 sounds like a deeper issue with the fit, I am not sure arch support alone would fix that
@@ronykuba cool thanks for replying that helps me a lot to ask more questions with my bike fitter.
Thank you for your review it was very helpful.
I wear a size 13 shoe (US), wear size 48 in Sidi, size 47 in S-Works. What size insole would you recommend I order? Size 47 or 48?
check the Solestar website for sizing

No, italian shoes are not for me

that´s exactly what is happening

Ares are by far the most uncomfortable shoe I’ve ever worn.
which s-works shoe do you like most?
It has to be the Sub6... super sleek
mine are on the way...
