this flash drive came to us from Montreal, where it was previously attempted to be recovered by a local reputable shop. We were told that it was recovered to the absence of technical pinout schematic for NAND protocol. Recovery of such a device via chip-off from NAND protocol is totally possible, and we could have done it if it was necessary. However, it should only be conducted in that way if the rest of the board is flawless and functional. Our troubleshooting process had led us to the source of the issue, and the case was solved in less than 20 minutes.

I would still leave a like if i was that worker of previous repair shop, you so polite :)
LOOOL :)
nice video the worse is if the person than send you this show that to the other shop lol

I've been doing DR for 10 years and still learn from you!! It's always a joy watching your alm approach and knowledge
Thanks Paul
I am always impressed with your work. If I need data recovered I know who to call!
Who you gonna call? - NAND BUSTERS 😉
Haha NAND BUSTERS nice one

Trust but Verify, it is the lifeblood of IT management. I trust my staff are performing all the appropriate troubleshooting and error resolution tasks and implementing best practice fixes, however, occasionally I need to do my due diligence and verify. I always communicate to them what I'm checking and the reason and assure them it is not a reflection of their work it is simply a leadership responsibility. Great video Erkin!
Well said, Josh. How you been?
@@hddrecoveryservices we are well sir I hope the same for you and yours. :)
My friend, nice to see you again, an amazing work all that you do.
Hey buddy! Lots of filming was done in the past month, but with workload I had no time for editing. Learning pc3K flash at the same time pushed editing to the backburner. Finally catching up on some things and back to YT :)
@@hddrecoveryservices You are the man, good content with high quality... eagerly waiting for that.
I am really enjoying your vids. We take the flash drives for granted but there is a lot more to them than one would think. You have a fun job there.
so good to see you back here again, learned a lot from u,TKS!
Each time I watch your videos I think the same thing, You sure make that look easy, I know better. You have amazing skills and exceptional attention to detail
Thanks Dave
thanks for having a channel without live ads during the video, sponsors, or automated ads. It is sooo hard to find channels that aren't trying to replace their day job with a YT channel.
You got it.
I actually don't mind them. Many of them can be quite entertaining. Jay's two cents ifixit cracks me up every time. FIX YOUR FRIEND WITH IFIXIT!!!! lol
HDD Recovery Services - Finally someone who gets what I'm sayin! =D
Great work. Learning something on each video you upload. Its great to watch how you bring back to life hardware, seems to be very satisfying job?
Very nice job.
I must be sincere, those who recycled this small USB are really inventive.
Nice job of reballing :)
Trust and verify, nice one.
You're a wizard, Harry!
Please go give Louis some master class instructions on manual dexterity. Incredibly precise work.
:)
This is why if i have any clients with any serious data recovery, i'm sending it to you lol love your work and always learn something new! If you have any need for old SCSI Drivers i have a few you can have!
That’s amazing work buddy
Its a wonderful video as far as the skills are concern and also understand the industry permutation and combination Thanks a million for sharing . God Bless you. We didn't see video for a long time so bit worried about well being hope you are doing well with the grace of God..
A pleasure to see your labor!
Thanks
Excellent job!
Thanks, Jerry!
New subscriber; love your content, really enhances my Engineering skills, even though my work is unrelated to yours. My specialty is design and consumer/commercial repairs in electronics.
Welcome to the channel John
@@hddrecoveryservices Thank you!
I've seen other cheap crappy flash drives on your channel before, but this one really takes the cake. I know promotional means trash, but it's like 1/8 the value of the trash of other companies. lol
A RESCUE god! Love your videos!
True engineering 👌👌👍
Thanks
Welcome back, nice video like always!
Dr King no1. Great work bro
!
This was very good... Great content
Thanks
thanks
A nice troubleshooting with explanation 👍🏻
Awesome man, always look forward to your videos! Stay safe and keep up the great work!
Erkins a beast.
Nice to see again bro!
Thank you great video!!
Nice concept bro👍
Thanks
I always like to have more trouble and work because someone else already tried to 'fix' it ... this would have been such an easy and quick fix :/
Erkin ,
I Would Want You To Check What That Controller Is ,That IDE Label Controller Was That AU Controller In Disguise of IDE .I had a good laugh when you said they tried to solder the internal monolith to a PC " I mean really " , This shows thier understanding of NAND Flash Devices . I Really Liked The Video ,Keep Up The Good Work ,My Self Training On VNR is Also Going On Quite Well ,But Support From Rusolut Is Required In Most Cases ,But Its Interesting
yeah dude, I chuckled when I saw solder marks on interface of the "NAND" too. Kinda the same as people opening their clicking hard drives to see if heads were stuck :)
That shop was around before I even started to work for Andrei back in 2005. Oh well... :)
as for the controller, yes indeed it was Alcor. if you google the IDE part number it has a bunch USBDEV info on it.
@@hddrecoveryservices Very Nice ,I have never seen such a case here in india
Great job as always!
Thanks! Great explanation
Thank you David
Easy issue, hard to find :-)
I'd like to tinker a bit myself with recovering flash drives and I was wondering about the temperature of the temperature of the hot air and the melting temperature of the soldering paste you are using. I've never did reballing before but it seems doable with a bit of practice. I'd appreciate any help to get going!
p.s.: I found the answer for the hot air, thanks
I removed defect diode from the board but same like before the drive is not spinning, I watched all your videos chained to this same problem and I couldn’t find any other solution except that maybe the motor on my drive is dead. How can I check that to be 100% sure? Thanks a lot!
Maaan you are amazing.
Thanks :)
Similar to what we just sent you, from the U.S. No power on flash drive. Feel free to make a video of the repair!
I think we get it tomorrow, I will get it on film ;)
Good
Доверяй, но проверяй! :)
Wait, a little bit confused. One of the data pads (slightly) delaminated, and severed from the track at the plug right?
original issue was a broken connector. First shop put the connector back on without cleaning up/testing pads for the connector. Obviously, it did not bring the device back to life, so they pulled the NAND in attempt to do a chip off. And came up short because the NAND was a refurb monolithic flash drive. What fascinates me, is the fact that they attempted to put a connector right to the monoliths interface.
@@hddrecoveryservices If I may; What is your thinking in terms of being facinated by the previous tech trying to put a connector on the "NAND", seeing how the "NAND" here is in reality a stand-alone USB flash drive? My own thought is "why not just try to connect it directly as its form factor intends, it doesn't need a connector". Should they (did you expect them to) have known through experience, that the onboard controller on the monolith flash drive was busted?
The only reason we see these promo flash drives built with epoxy blob NANDs, eMMCs, monolithic flash drives via bypass, SD and microSD cards via bypass, is because they do not work. Instead of trashing these failed devices, they get sold to to refurb places. Promo flash drives internal controller and internal controller of that SanDisk flash drive do not work the same. It would be similar to using Hitachi PCB on a Seagate hard drive. Native interface on that SanDisk flash drive can't be used to communicate with data.
Are you still working from home or are you back to your normal workplace? Charles
I do both
my WD MYPASSPORT ULTRA IS SHOWING UNINITIALIZED AND WHEN I TRY TO INITIALIZE ITS SHOWING I/O ERROR.IS THERE ANY SOLUTION TO RECOVER THE DATA?
Where did you learn how do to do this? I desire a new career and a new skill.
Promo flash drives lol. I got about 20 of them now. Don't use them for anything other than OS installs or for moving files from one place to another.
quanto può costare una riparazione del genere
Price depends on the work that is needed
Hey man, I have a 2tb western digital drive that the original board was fried from a bad power source. I don't think I have the original board as I tried using another board to extract the data. I believe there was encryption enabled. Is there any way to access/save the data?
When you say fried board, what do you mean? PCB on the drive? Or enclosure adapter?
@@hddrecoveryservices the PCB that attaches with 3/4 torx screws
Which temp do you use for hot air?
I use 390 at full air flow to take off, and 350 at 40 air to mount
this is not an advertising flash drive, it is junk from aliexpress
Dealerships sell them

How to recover data in old windows
I lost my data after reinstall window
Please help me
they do not make great cars. cheaply made but highly priced
Bez flash drive is the cheapest China offers.
Anyone can make a custom branded flash drive. China companies will create anything for you cheap.
All promos are terrible.. one off collectors items are even worse. Look up corvette jet boat. Looks awesome. Way over powered fun.. it just isn’t a good boat.. it has carpet and leather in it. It has no usable storage. It’s trailer looks good but if actually used it will destroy itself. Just the nature of the brand name collectable promotion items
Not Mercedes Benz - Ali Express sh.. .
There's a Mercedes Benz joke in here somehwere.
Idea 3rd class company
