JND, thanks for another reaction to Angelina Jordan. One of the most amazing and baffling things about Angelina, is how she was able to convey so much emotion during her early years. Many people hold the belief that children singers can't evoke emotion because they haven't lived through mature experiences yet. We don't know how Angelina was able to convey emotion but there is no denying she was able to. I recommend everyone new to her, to listen to her early performances with headphones and NOT watch the video, only listen. I say this because your brain will be confused by such a mature voice coming from a child.

If you hear a song sung by the original artist, it sounds really good. If Angelina sings the same song, she adds her emotions to it and you feel the song a lot more.
Please go to her Vegas concerts end of month. You will never forget this. I was at her final summer concert in Norway 2022 . The best concert of my lifetime at my age of 74 and i saw a lot 🎉
She did "When We Were Young" at around 11 years old at an outdoor venue in Norway. It was stunningly good. This is great but that was with a very good band.

As Keith already said: that's just "for the fun of singing" and letting her Angels get a new snippet. Next to that it's cool, it is also one of her (many!!) Flexes 😅 to sound better in an impromptu TikTok than 90+% of the other studio, multi take, produced singers 😁😎💪

Thanks JND....you are quite correct....that is just how good her voice is, studio quality right out of the voice box, no need for production, mixing, auto tune...etc..etc.. she is THAT good!! You will find out as you view many more of her sitting at home singing videos with or without a microphone and just a guitar accompaniment or backing track, just a cellphone or handheld camera, nothing else is really needed. Many have said before that Angelina doesn't cover songs , she uncovers them, 😮
She is just playing around at home in these TicTok videos. It doesn't mean she will be releasing official covers of the songs, although she could, you just never know. She has actually covered both of these songs a few years ago, WWWY when she was 13 (at home & in concert) & MW when she was 11 (at home). These little shorts are just vocal experiments that she shares with her fans.
In most of these TikToks, she’s working on specific aspects of her voice and exercising her vocal cords. She works on her breath control, runs, riffs, vocal fry, high notes, low notes etc and then picks a song she feels best suited for whatever she’s working on. To me, it sounds like she’s working on vocal fry here. Republic Records built her a complete recording studio in her home, so that’s why she sounds like she’s in a studio lol! But she CAN do things with those vocal cords no other singer can do, after all, she’s been training them 4-6 hours a day every day since she was 3 years old, according to her.
I believe she graduated from school last summer, so now she's launched herself fully into her career as a superstar. She teases us with these TikToks, which she just seems to record on the fly, though in this case she seems to be in a studio. Loving these random reactions, but don't forget to follow her journey through Norway's Got Talent!
Sir, she finished High School in LA in summer 2023 and now she accellarates slowly but surely.
As other have said, "Yes her voice does sound that good"! But Republic Records did build her a studio just for her use to create music! And obviously she knows how to use all the equipment that would be there! Based on what little surroundings you can see in the first and virtually non in the second, I would say she did both in her studio and probably alone based on the camera (phone?) did not move during filming. Being in a professional studio with great acoustics alone would greatly enhance the sound. That said, she has done many recordings (especially in a parking garage close to their home) that sound better than most other vocal artists sound in a professionally made studio production!

WWWY she sings at her concerts...she sang my way when she was @ 10-11 they just film these with a cell phone...people who listen to her live say she sounds better than when she is in studio...
You'll see pretty soon that her voice sounds studio quality regardless of which setting she's in 😊
And as far as music career goes, there has been none 🙂
So far Angelina has solely been focusing on school, as per her own and her family's wish. You know, when she signed with Republic Records when she was 14, THAT was the main premise; that there would be no promotion of her whatsoever until she'd finished school. That actually happened last summer, when she graduated one year early ❤ So I guess from now on we will see things start to happen. She will have 2 concerts in Vegas in 12 days, on the 29th of February, and hopefully that is the start of something more. I know that Angelina is ready, after all her recent EP is called "Old Enough", and I hope that Republic is ready as well. At least they quite recently built a recording studio exclusively for Angelina to use, so it definitely looks that way. Either way, Angelina is still young, so there's no real hurry. And if there is one thing we have learned with Angelina, it's that she'll never rush anything. But when she delivers - OMG she delivers 😅 Have a great weekend! Love from Norway 🇸🇯❤️🔥

The When You Were Young recordinng is likely a couple years old. Her grandma often releases older stuff. The "My Way" recording is current, though.
From a marketing perspective Angelina’s abbreviated Tik Toc performances make us want for more. The sound engineer most likely loves to work with Angelina because there is no need for any digital massaging, such as auto tune.
Angelina sings just to sing.
Angelina has always been able to emote at a high level from the start when she was 6 or 7. That part of her artistry has not changed!
Angelina is an introverted person, she prefers to share her thoughts and feelings through her music rather than talk about it. Since it was almost the only way to communicate with fans during COVID, she does it via Tiktok/Insta - this is not intended as an official recording, nor as exercises as some believe.
Imagine My Way accompanied by the KORK orchestra live on stage at O2 Arena - no doubt that the rumors she is related to Sinatra would outshine the rumors she is Elvis' granddaughter ;-)
You have a good point about Angelina's ability to convey emotion - In addition to her unusually deep contralto voice, this is the other reason for her popularity even as a child/teenager singer. It has nothing to do with her current age and nothing to do with any experiences in real life (although we don't know that for sure either, because even as a very small child she traveled widely in the world and saw much more than a normal high school graduate can imagine).
Watch "I'll be there" 2014 (Swedish Heroes gala), "Stay" (2018), "the first time I ever saw your face" (2017) and "A Million years ago" (2018). But my favorite example is “Every time we say goodbye” rooftop performance (2016).
It's particularly noticeable with the tributes - and they also show the second fact that you recognized well: the ability to make a "second" original from an existing song instead of making a simple cover.
Watch "Wake me up" (Avicii), "The show mus go on" (Freddy Mercury) or "A natural woman" (Aretha Franklin).
Angelina studied music theory as a very young child and learned to create vocal arrangements at a very early age.

What will happen now that Angelina has graduated from high school last June still seems uncertain - college would be conceivable (there are rumors about Julliard), but also a more extensive professional music career promoted by her label Republic Records. Calling the latter "a start" sounds a bit strange, as her stage career began almost exactly ten years ago.
So - who knows, but especially since the stage is Angelina's favorite place, I already have an idea...

You are one of many who would LOVE to see her do full length versions of her TikToks...these mini-masterpieces just leave us longing to hear more! Also, very astute observation re her amazing ability to infuse her singing with an amount of emotion that is virtually unparalleled by any other singer. She has had that ability since childhood, but it seems to have actually "grown up" right along with her. i adore Adele, but Angelina's version does emotionally impact me just that much more. Never try to judge/interpret Angelina's voice by listen to a recent performance of her. About with every song of her her voice change . She was soulful from a very young age all ready. IMO reactors made a mistake by not listening to her performances from 7 to 13. Then they really start to understand Angelina's performances better. Another thing, if you listen to her earlier performances, most was taken with a cell phone or camera in her house and many times without a mic. Then there are her acapella performances in a parking garage. I prefer her earlier performances of this two songs because I don't like the twang in her voice that she did in this video.
There is recent video of her singing When We Were Young... for a private performance she gave... a rehearsal and the performance... Shre stuck pretty close to the original, so much emotion brought me to tears but on this perfromance she has completely rearranged it... and its just incredible

No.....what she's doing on these Tic-Toc clips is working. She's working out sounds, interpretations.....with the microphone only in a LIVE format......maybe even to play back many times to listen to herself. All the while making herself available to her fans so that they too can listen and watch, and see her. She's doing it "her way" like no one ever has before.
