It means to rest the side of your hand on the strings real close to the bridge to get a heavy sound.

Around 4:00, while practicing this part at the beginning, I recommend skipping the mute and playing very close to the bridge. Then move on.

I know this was 9 years ago so i don't really expect a reply but i'm having a lot of trouble with the 10 (hammer-on) 7 because my guitar just completely cancels out the note no matter what i do, even if i break my finger pushing down on the fret.

This guitar is an Ibanez RG370DXL! I am a left handed guitar player, so this is a left handed guitar, but I flip the video around in all my tutorial videos since the vast majority of people watching this video are right handed, and doing so makes helping all those people learn the song a little easier. Edventuris Hey there! All I can say is just practice a lot. Regardless of whatever handedness you are using, fingerpicking involves developing a ton of dexterity, so pick a song that isn't too hard since you're only a beginner and learn it forwards and backwards. After that, slowly work your way up to more difficult stuff. And be very patient, because fingerstyle playing can get pretty difficult and it just takes time to get a hang of it! Good luck!

Wrong video if you wanted a cover? If you're trying to learn a song, the last thing you want is someone else's guitar (with a minimally processed and mixed guitar part) over the top. Tutorial, not cover. There's tons of good covers out there!
