I travelled almost everywhere and brought my tablet with me. Now I just bring my Fold 6 and open anytime I want to see something on a tablet. It's not as big, but it's large enough that I just don't need to travel with a tablet as well.
That’s why I’m buying it. I’ve been apple with no switch back to android since 2012. Finally switching back because I travel for work. Tired of needing iPad Pro for entertainment. iPhone max isn’t big enough for entertainment purposes for a week or two in hotel on business travel. I’m on my iPad Pro every night I’m on it right now. I feel I’d use the fold all the time. This is to replace my phone and tablet.
@@eXHackeR I've been all-in Apple since 2008 and also have a Max and 11" iPad Pro, but also bought a Z Fold 4 recently. I think it's great but it may not completely replace the iPad Pro for you and the software is not iPhone level. It all depends how deep you are into Apple's ecosystem and what your needs are. For now the Z Fold 4 is a second phone for me but from what I'm hearing about the 16 Pro Max I doubt I'll jump to Android for my main phone.

I don’t plan on getting rid of my iPad Pro, but for shorts trips like this 3 day for work in Chicago I’m currently on, I feel I could get away with my iPhone, a Z Fold as a second device and my MacBook Air. Then I would at least have the option to travel lighter and leave the iPad.
Upgraded from an S20 5g, and the difference is astounding. It weighs more, but for the functional improvements, I'm very willing to take that change. The crease isn't obvious at all head-on, I can't see it with more than the darkest brightness setting

Recently change (don’t arrive yet) my fold 3 to new fold 6. I’m really excited. I love my fold 3, 3 years in perfect condition. I don’t comeback to a regular phone.
The fold 4 actually had a different hinge design compared to the fold 3. Instead of gears that keep the hinge opening smoothly, the fold 4 used a simple channel design that would just slide back and forth. I had to repair so many of the 4s when they came out compared to the 3. So I'm not surprised your buddy had issues with his 4.
That's my biggest complaint with these "months later" reviews. I mentioned it on Kev the Tech Ninjas videos before. These guys aren't actually telling us how the device has aged over time... Just literally reiterating the same old facts from day one.
another thing to take note, close to 1 month of use, and the phone colour at the power / volume button area starts to drop off. I'm using the navy colour model, and it's starting to fall off. perhaps choose the silver model might not have this issue since it's the original colour.
I upgraded from the fold 5, and the difference in eye comfort between 5 and 6 is night and day (thanks to the fold 6 increasing the PWM rate to 480hz from 120hz). If you are even remotely sensitive to PWM this is a no brainer upgrade for the eye comfort alone.
My fold 4 was 2 years old and used to work. Multiple times a day in and out of my pocket and opening and closing the main display. Never once did it not open or closed fully. Id bet your friend is mistreating his phone.
I got the Fold6 from the note20ultra and find I am 50:50 front to inside screen. The front is fine for typing and I still have the wow factor when I open it. I do find I have to adjust many apps for the big screen. It really is a tool, not a toy... unless I am on CODM.
I'm getting the Fold 6 and I have been wondering how durable it is without a case? It's my first foldable and I have never used case on any of my normal phones.
I wish you touched more on how it compares to the S24 Ultra. Whether you think it's worth the insane price and how it compares to other foldable phones like the Open.
I traded my 24 ultra in for the fold 6. And for me when using the phone all the time and using the cameras and use about 40 applications on a daily basis, I don't notice the difference in performance. At the end of the day to me it's if you want to have two screens or not. The build on both of them are excellent, I use the OtterBox XT case, (tried 30 cases and hated them all because of the small piece that's to the left of the screen when closed is only held on by a sticky, annoys the crap out of me, the OtterBox doesn't do this).

Cant wait to get mine. My company as well as most phone companies offer insurance to replace or repair phones as well as free upgrades to the newest model so im not really bothered by the possibilities of hinge malfunctions or things like that . If it happens it can always be replaced.
I ordered my 5 from samsung with a 900 dollar discount got my phone then a week later they announced the new one 😢 i was like no wonder they're offering significant discount on the fold 5😢. I gotta say the sharper edges are enticing
I returned my 6 and canceled my 5 trade-in.. the 5 is the best out. It looks and feels more premium, and the screens beat the 6. They altered the vividness of the 6 so that the screens look extremely pale and washed out, and the screen intentionally does not get as bright as the 5 indoors. I had to have it on max brightness, and it still looked off. I sighed the biggest sigh of relief once I put my sim back in my 5 and returned the 6. It was not worth the 600$ I got it for in the end.

Don't worry, the fold 6 is just minor upgrades from the fold 5, but with a $100 dollar increase in price, and I believe the fold 5 ultra is coming out in July if that helps any

In short, you will pay much more for one big screen. The new technology trying to beat laptops but to be honest, it will never be because of physical key board and othet devices, bigger screen, softwares and filing systems in laptops makes it amazing
Used a fold 5 for a wee while and just never felt comfortable with it. Too many compromises. The outside screen was too tall and narrow. Inside screen was good but only for specific applications. Suitable for people who really need the use of a small tablet.
You're insane. I had a fold 4 for 2 years. It did not have any compromises. The front screen worked as a regular phone for all tasks and the main display is good for every app. I just got the fold 6 as I got $800 for a trade in and a $500 account credit from my provider. So I ended up paying $500 for a fold six. It is a better phone than the 4, mostly because of the fact it folds flat and is slimmer and lighter. I do make use of the big screen for work purposes but it is fantastic for plane rides, long car rides, or even just sitting on the couch and watching UA-cam.

Can you run two instances of the same app on the folding screen? For example if I want to run X (formerly Twitter) with them side by side, and logged into different accounts? Same for Instagram, and same for Facebook maybe?

Hey Dion, awesome video, I really like these phones but I don't think they have nailed them yet. Give it a couple years and people will be using the term brick phone to describe the non folding stuff we have today.
Or you can use it without the screen protector. It's very easy to leave marks with the fingernail. I had Fold 3 (I switched to Fold 6 3 weeks ago) and I had absolutely no problem. Not only the screen looks better without the screen protector but it's useless on the inner screen.
Fold 5 is too good for me. I was disappointed with the battery life on the Fold 3. The Fold 5 has left me satisfied. I skipped the Fold 6 and waited for the Fold 7 with the larger cover display.
NOBODY is saying " man I love this phone cause of the ai software update" 🙄 for ex this video starts off by saying he loves the hardware....that' to me makes sense..(although it looks identical to the fold 5 and even fold 4) anyway this whole ai thing being a buying reason just needs to stop samsung really trying to justify a new phone with a SOFTWARE update smh...let's all be honest we gonna play with that new feature for a week and get bored of it it's just like any other app. Any fold 6 video should really omit the ai stuff it's so irrelevant and miniscule.
I had Flip 4 and I upgraded it to Fold 6. I highly recommend it. One of the things mentioned in the video is the usage of the outside display. I've Been finding myself using the outer screen way more than I thought. I use the big screen when I'm playing video games, reading, drawing or watching videos. I use my outer screen for lighter stuff like texting, email etc. I don't think fold phones are meant to last 10 years unless you take extremely good care of it. If you are planning on going for 10 years, make sure you always keep a military grade case with hinge protection and screen protectors on both inside and outside.

I upgraded from an s21 to the z fold 6, so far it's been great. If you're worried about damage with your nail, it will only damage the built in screen protector, which costs 20 usd to replace. While it's a great phone, it will probably last 3-4 years, where you would wait till July to get pre-order deals on the new one of that year. If you're looking for a phone to last you 10 years, i would wait till they announce the s25 ultra, as you will get a good deal on a preorder trade in (in samsungs site) and it will be brand new, unlike the s24 that's already had a few months and won't go on sale. Ultimately, it is up to you to look at how you use your phone and wether you are more interested in having cool features like the big display and how compact it is at the cost of durability and possible longevity or a phone you don't have to worry about that will serve you longer. From my experience with it so far, I'm not worried about damage to the screen or to water as it is submersible, and with regards to the hinge not opening all the way after use, it seemed to be a problem with the z fold 4 only. I live in a major city and don't do any labor intensive work so for me it's worth to have the bigger screen. Look at your needs first and that will tell you which one you want.
I bought a Samsung Fold4 for £1440 ($1900) in the UK. After 18 months, still in its warranty period, the hinge stopped working and the phone stopped opening up fully flat. When I took the phone to Samsung, they asked for £600 to repair it saying that a cosmetic scratch on the outer cover of the phone voided the warranty on the hinge which is nowhere near the scratch. Worse, they sent my phone with all its data to a 3rd party dodgy repair company without my knowledge and that dodgy company started sending me ransom mail and text messages asking for £600 to return my phone. RIP OFF! SCAM! DON'T BUY ANY SAMUNG FOLD PHONE, they are very expensive yet very cheap in quality. BETTER YET, DON'T BUY ANY SAMSUNG PRODUCT.
Had my ohone 30 days and the inside screen os finished then since i was on the installment plan i couldnt yse the warranty and all i did was ipen the phone and the screen went out
Fingerprint sensor faulty. Preorderd mine. Lees than 2 weeks fingerprint sensor went out. Mailed back to samsung. Aug 21st no phone or refund. Google search fingerprint sensor issue!!!
I bought the Fold 6. I was previously using an S22 Ultra. I like that I can use all my apps and the big screen, but I seriously don't like the battery life. The cameras are okay, but not great. Right now, I've been charging my phone at least once, or sometimes even twice, by the end of the day, as I am a heavy user. I'm not sure if I'll keep the phone or return it.
If you want a phone for the camera, stick with the S24 ultra, and if you want a phone that you can use like a tablet and do multiple things on it then go with the fold 6. I've had every iphone since it came out and I have switched to the fold 6 and the ultra watch and i'm loving everything. You can literally watch youtube videos and browse a web on your ultra watch
Foldable's from China are putting Samsung to shame. Take a look at the Honor V2 and the new V3. Making the Fold 6 look like a house brick. Much thinner, better cameras, much faster charging and much bigger battery. And, much cheaper. Sadly, not all are widely available outside of China but you can get hold of them fairly easily. The only thing Samsung has got right is the software.
On paper, those Chinese burner foldables seem better. But the quality of software/hardware and after care support isn't there. That's why they're not available worldwide for sale. If an Apple user had to move over - it wouldn't be one from China 100% a fact.
Samsung has more software upgrade support. Has Spen which is way better. Has way better software and durability. The form factor is better in my opinion. I love the slim form factor super easy to use one handed
Man these fads kill me. Folding phones, iPhones, macbooks, etc. At one time it was beats. Ridiculously overpriced fads just so that you can try to show off to your peers. What is the point of spending 2K on a phone that is prone to excess damage and quite literally has a worse camera than flagship phones. Outside of niche cases I just don't understand it anymore. This kind of fad stuff was nowhere near this bad when I was growing up. 2,000 dollar for the best model of this is just absolutely insane. You know it's a fad when a lot of iPhone users are gravitating to the fold. It's the next hot thing to be seen with.
This is the kind of phone that literally only men will buy. and women will look at guys with this phone with a side eye. Like fr bro? A literal brick in your pocket? This tech is clearly beta stage at best. Anyone paying $2000 for this is either a little nuts or or a little nuts. Whats more, 3 years from now this thing will be resell for $300, aka less than a 5 year old iPhone. Personally, I don't see how it makes sense when regular large smartphones are big enough as it is these days. How big is that S24 or whatever you call it? The new big iPhones are like 7" that's all you need in your pocket for real.
I've been satisfied with the fold 6 but my biggest disappointment has been the battery capacity. A full charge lasts me about 22 hours without doing anything too intense like gaming. It's my first time with a folding phone and higher refresh rate screens so maybe it's expected, but felt like a downgrade from my previous phone.

Its not a COATING!! Its a screen protector on the inside. You can simply replace it when it scratches As a tech reviewer you should do more research.
Are you sure there was a time when ppl thought it was a screen protector but tried to peel it and it damaged the screen
@tizben that was on the original fold. On the new ones it's a screen protector. I've replaced mine a couple times

I purchased mine yesterday and not much of a difference from the 5 however I definitely see the difference in the 6 and the 3 ❤
I want this phone to trade on the go. Able to watch stock charts on 1 app, and trade on another ❤ maybe a Christmas present to myself.
I fixed my fold hinge from being gritty and not opening all the way with almost an entire can of compressed air.
The battery life in standby and use is pretty good . I got the z6. Screen is wider and cleaner

Used a fold 5 for a wee while and just never felt comfortable with it. Too many compromises. The outside screen was too tall and narrow. Inside screen was good but only for specific applications. Suitable for people who really need the use of a small tablet.
You're insane. I had a fold 4 for 2 years. It did not have any compromises. The front screen worked as a regular phone for all tasks and the main display is good for every app. I just got the fold 6 as I got $800 for a trade in and a $500 account credit from my provider. So I ended up paying $500 for a fold six. It is a better phone than the 4, mostly because of the fact it folds flat and is slimmer and lighter. I do make use of the big screen for work purposes but it is fantastic for plane rides, long car rides, or even just sitting on the couch and watching UA-cam.
How is battery life? I had fold 3 and some days from morning till lunch it was ready for charging

Can you run two instances of the same app on the folding screen? For example if I want to run X (formerly Twitter) with them side by side, and logged into different accounts? Same for Instagram, and same for Facebook maybe?

Its the screen protector, he thinks its a coating which its not. You can remove and replace it like a normal screen protector
Or you can use it without the screen protector. It's very easy to leave marks with the fingernail. I had Fold 3 (I switched to Fold 6 3 weeks ago) and I had absolutely no problem. Not only the screen looks better without the screen protector but it's useless on the inner screen.

Fold 5 is too good for me. I was disappointed with the battery life on the Fold 3. The Fold 5 has left me satisfied. I skipped the Fold 6 and waited for the Fold 7 with the larger cover display.

NOBODY is saying " man I love this phone cause of the ai software update" 🙄 for ex this video starts off by saying he loves the hardware....that' to me makes sense..(although it looks identical to the fold 5 and even fold 4) anyway this whole ai thing being a buying reason just needs to stop samsung really trying to justify a new phone with a SOFTWARE update smh...let's all be honest we gonna play with that new feature for a week and get bored of it it's just like any other app. Any fold 6 video should really omit the ai stuff it's so irrelevant and miniscule.

I had Flip 4 and I upgraded it to Fold 6. I highly recommend it. One of the things mentioned in the video is the usage of the outside display. I've Been finding myself using the outer screen way more than I thought. I use the big screen when I'm playing video games, reading, drawing or watching videos. I use my outer screen for lighter stuff like texting, email etc. I don't think fold phones are meant to last 10 years unless you take extremely good care of it. If you are planning on going for 10 years, make sure you always keep a military grade case with hinge protection and screen protectors on both inside and outside.

I upgraded from an s21 to the z fold 6, so far it's been great. If you're worried about damage with your nail, it will only damage the built in screen protector, which costs 20 usd to replace. While it's a great phone, it will probably last 3-4 years, where you would wait till July to get pre-order deals on the new one of that year. If you're looking for a phone to last you 10 years, i would wait till they announce the s25 ultra, as you will get a good deal on a preorder trade in (in samsungs site) and it will be brand new, unlike the s24 that's already had a few months and won't go on sale. Ultimately, it is up to you to look at how you use your phone and wether you are more interested in having cool features like the big display and how compact it is at the cost of durability and possible longevity or a phone you don't have to worry about that will serve you longer. From my experience with it so far, I'm not worried about damage to the screen or to water as it is submersible, and with regards to the hinge not opening all the way after use, it seemed to be a problem with the z fold 4 only. I live in a major city and don't do any labor intensive work so for me it's worth to have the bigger screen. Look at your needs first and that will tell you which one you want.

I bought a Samsung Fold4 for £1440 ($1900) in the UK. After 18 months, still in its warranty period, the hinge stopped working and the phone stopped opening up fully flat. When I took the phone to Samsung, they asked for £600 to repair it saying that a cosmetic scratch on the outer cover of the phone voided the warranty on the hinge which is nowhere near the scratch. Worse, they sent my phone with all its data to a 3rd party dodgy repair company without my knowledge and that dodgy company started sending me ransom mail and text messages asking for £600 to return my phone. RIP OFF! SCAM! DON'T BUY ANY SAMUNG FOLD PHONE, they are very expensive yet very cheap in quality. BETTER YET, DON'T BUY ANY SAMSUNG PRODUCT.
The crease is still enough to interrupt the inputs of the S pen, very annoying when trying to draw etc.

I bought the Fold 6. I was previously using an S22 Ultra. I like that I can use all my apps and the big screen, but I seriously don't like the battery life. The cameras are okay, but not great. Right now, I've been charging my phone at least once, or sometimes even twice, by the end of the day, as I am a heavy user. I'm not sure if I'll keep the phone or return it.
If you want a phone for the camera, stick with the S24 ultra, and if you want a phone that you can use like a tablet and do multiple things on it then go with the fold 6. I've had every iphone since it came out and I have switched to the fold 6 and the ultra watch and i'm loving everything. You can literally watch youtube videos and browse a web on your ultra watch

Foldable's from China are putting Samsung to shame. Take a look at the Honor V2 and the new V3. Making the Fold 6 look
like a house brick. Much thinner, better cameras, much faster charging and much bigger battery. And, much cheaper.
Sadly, not all are widely available outside of China but you can get hold of them fairly easily. The only thing Samsung has got right is the software.

On paper, those Chinese burner foldables seem better. But the quality of software/hardware and after care support isn't there. That's why they're not available worldwide for sale.
If an Apple user had to move over - it wouldn't be one from China 100% a fact.
Samsung has more software upgrade support. Has Spen which is way better. Has way better software and durability. The form factor is better in my opinion. I love the slim form factor super easy to use one handed
Man these fads kill me. Folding phones, iPhones, macbooks, etc. At one time it was beats. Ridiculously overpriced fads just so that you can try to show off to your peers. What is the point of spending 2K on a phone that is prone to excess damage and quite literally has a worse camera than flagship phones. Outside of niche cases I just don't understand it anymore. This kind of fad stuff was nowhere near this bad when I was growing up. 2,000 dollar for the best model of this is just absolutely insane. You know it's a fad when a lot of iPhone users are gravitating to the fold. It's the next hot thing to be seen with.

This is the kind of phone that literally only men will buy. and women will look at guys with this phone with a side eye. Like fr bro? A literal brick in your pocket? This tech is clearly beta stage at best. Anyone paying $2000 for this is either a little nuts or or a little nuts. Whats more, 3 years from now this thing will be resell for $300, aka less than a 5 year old iPhone. Personally, I don't see how it makes sense when regular large smartphones are big enough as it is these days. How big is that S24 or whatever you call it? The new big iPhones are like 7" that's all you need in your pocket for real.
I've been satisfied with the fold 6 but my biggest disappointment has been the battery capacity. A full charge lasts me about 22 hours without doing anything too intense like gaming. It's my first time with a folding phone and higher refresh rate screens so maybe it's expected, but felt like a downgrade from my previous phone.
I can get up to 8 hours of screen on time with youtube and other stuff to. Without gaming at all. Plus even stay on WiFi
