Hill and valley recording at about 100rpm. Early 1900s. Unannounced baritone with a bold powerful voice.A declaration thundered out Good range, modulation and legato. Wonder who he was??
This is a lateral-cut recording, as were all Zonophone records. And Zonophones were never recorded at 100 rpm; this one plays at around 72 rpm. Perhaps you are thinking of Pathé discs, which were hill-and-dale and in the early years played at around 100 rpm.
@@Onkel_Greifenklau My sincere apologies OOM (Afrikaans for Onkel) I guess the black label triggered a jump to Pathe. I have about 10 of these, Ancona,Anselmi,Boninsegna,Agostinelli,Carupolo,Belhomme, Bassi,Albani AND my favourite,Enrico Caruso (double-sided). All are played with a head having a rounded tip to its "needle" at variable speeds around 100. Use stroboscope or tuning fork to set the correct speed. Mit freundliche Grussen, Ingram Anderson. Johannesburg. Sud Afrika🤭🎼🎹🎵🎵🎶
@@ingramfanderson1506 No need to apologize! The Pathé discs are very interesting. I have many of them, as you can see on this channel, including many of the 14-inch (35 cm) ones, and even a couple of the 20-inch ones. They can be a challenge to play.
