Life goes so fast after you leave home, after your childhood ends and you can never go back to that life. Claire's childhood ends here and life zooms by in the blink of an eye.
@Black Watch What would you say to the younger "you"? I have many old cassettes of calls to friends, prank calls etc. from back in the 90's when I was a young teen. I just listened to a few minutes of one and couldn't believe how much I've changed. My energy levels were amazing and such simple things made me laugh. I wish it was that easy now. Life happens though.
@Black Watch I understand that. Sounds like you possibly needed more life experience or weren't strong enough for happiness yet or even didn't think you deserved it because you needed some growth. Then again I barely know you :)
When Claire is driving and her brother is jogging in her rearview mirror and then he just slips out of the view, my heart cracks open and the tears start spilling out. I think of my own sweet brothers.
No matter how many times I see it, that scene when David sees Keith - in the prime of his life - just before joining the love of his life, can never stop tears from falling. Heartbreaking. Beautiful. Poignant. Powerful.
I've watched this final sequence over a dozen times, and I still can't do it without tears. The most beautiful series ending ever filmed. I still haven't figured out whether I'm crying because everyone dies...we are all going to die. Or whether the real loss for me is that I've never loved a television series as much as Six Feet Under, and I still can't bear that it's over.
I just can’t see another show having a final episode like this. I still remember watching it when it aired and was just blown away. I’m still blown away and so glad I was able to watch this episode.
Yes. Yes. Yes. It is the best ending of any series I've ever seen. These characters live inside my heart and whenever I see them, it's like seeing old friends and I want to see into their current lives over and over again.
What I think is that people, including me cries their lungs out in this ending because it reminds us that everything will fade away (like the editing of the "future" sequences with a lot of exposure) one day and life doesn't wait for anybody and it gives us that feeling that we need to enjoy the present with ourselves and loved ones
It sure was. Came across this in my recommend feeds. I haven't seen the series in a few years. Just noticed that each one that does sees their loved one just before they pass.
In the beginning I related more to Brenda but then Ruth's story became more compelling. As a mother, she had such an unfair, albeit necessary course. When she breaks down in front of the childhood photos it hit home. So bittersweet. She was the most sympathetic character. Her love for her children was UNCONDITIONAL.
Yeah it really makes you realize that you and everyone you know will all pass on at some point. We live life and often think as if we are immortal but that’s just not the case. We all have an expiration date so live life to the fullest and find happiness and joy in whatever or whoever you can because it may be the last time you can.
I was 19 when I first saw the pilot. I never missed an episode from that point on. I’m 36 now- I’ve never watched a show since that comes close to it. Everything about it is perfection.
@@shanefolan The first 2 seasons were the *strongest.* When they introduced James Cromwell's character and when Ted came into the picture, they had good stories but not enough to justify the character arcs.
Years later, I still ugly cry when I watch it. This show got me through the passing of my grandmother. Sometimes to stop from crying I tell myself that Claire starts crying because she's about to get on Interstate 10.
Someday I'm going to leave Southern California after having lived here for decades. I've already got my playlist ready, and as soon as I hit the 10 I'm going to click on Sia's "Breathe Me". Someone else better be driving, because I will be crying like a baby.
This show was one of the most beautifully, realistically , impactfully honest series I had ever seen in my life. I have gone back to it and re-watched it from beginning to end several times. Each time I watched it I saw things I hadn't seen before. I also think that most people can relate to the characters in the story, as we all have a family member or two that are like these characters. After I've watched it, death became easier to talk about. I highly recommend that people watch this series and breathe it in. Every second of it! Thank you Alan Ball for the brilliant idea and writing. It is my favorite series of all time!
I have fond memories of watching this show in real time as it was playing out. It soon became one of my favorite things on TV, period. I didn't quite see it back then, but this show brought me a great deal of comfort. I lost my dad in summer of 03 and we'd both watched together. He even told me that this show helped him in some ways, he had cancer and I suppose this show helped him face the inevitable.... I never realized it until much later but six feet under helped me learn how to grieve, how to feel pain, heartbreak, the death of loved ones...six feet under aired during a time in my life when I most definitely needed comfort, and a time when I was very vulnerable. This series is an absolute masterpiece. The Fishers became welcome guests in my home, and I shed real tears when Nate died, and when Claire was falling apart afterwards. God bless the cast and crew, thank you so much, for this amazing, timeless, heartbreakingly, hauntingly beautiful series!
I so agree it really struck me hard. I watched it years ago and just rewatched it because I loved it so much but wow, this time it really hit home. My favorite series and I too think of all the characters. They were amazing! x

Man, the experience and emotions this show makes you go through just leave you feeling grateful about life and all the people in it that make it special. I never felt so much by the simple act of watching a TV series. Some shows give you thrills, some shows leave you in a deep state of thought about the state of affairs of the world, some shows introduce you to an era you never experienced, some shows bring you into a fantasy world you want to believe is real, but this show just gives you a journey into the human experience. Life, death, the good moments and the bad. The last four episodes of this show had me weeping like a baby. I hadn't felt something so significant in so long, it's crazy to believe that it came from a TV series. And that last episode man, WOW. Talk about a perfect ending. I'm so glad I got experience this show, especially in a time where everything seems so uncertain. This show just makes you value the human experience and everything that comes with it...........

This ending made me sick for a week. I felt it so hard... i don't really like the people behind making jokes after making such a great impact. Never seen a better ending on a show after. Ever.
The Sopranos (rightfully) is the series that gets all the credit for upping the level of television writing, acting, directing and production. But Six Feet Under was really the precursor of a "movie-quality" series.
I've always thought of this as Claire's life review. "You can't take a picture of this, it's already gone." is a way of telling Claire that what she is seeing is in her past and her tears is her finally being grateful for the people and life that she had even through all the turmoil she experienced when she was young.
Yes. And also has a solid commentary for the current generation of main character social media users. Spend your life taking pictures and it will pass you by and you won’t even have experienced it.
I watched "Six Feet Under" for the first time last year because of Michael C. Hall & he'll never understand how grateful I'm for discovering this show. This guy is my most fav. actor and his acting, potrating Dexter, David Fisher ... magnificent! The whole show is one of a kind! The actors! The music! I don't know when I'll watch it again, because I was a mess, after the last episode. I cried like never before & my heart broke for all of them 😭💔😭 They all died 😭😭 Very beautiful and touching scene, but still so so heartbreaking for watching 💔 I can't remember show with such a perfectly emotionaly touching ending like SFU. Sorry for my bad English, it's not my mother's. I just came accidentaly. Tgank you for sharing the videos!
Me too! I found SFU because I had just binged Dexter in late 2021 . And now it’s March 2022 and adore Michael C Hall. Both great shows in their own way… but I was so unhappy with the finale ( last season) of dexter and very pleased with this one. As many people said I would be 😊 Now I binge anything on Netflix or other that has Michael in it. He’s amazing
I have never nor will I ever see a show like this again. In a way it’s changed my life. Absolute masterpiece. This is 2024, my brother talked me into giving it a chance as I usually don’t watch series
What an incredible series! And what an incredible ending! Absolutely perfect! (THIS is the standard by which TV shows should be judged. Put more quality material like THIS on the air!)
Just finished this show and like to consider myself a fairly tough guy who doesn't cry for many drama series.....this one got me several times and I cried like a baby at this end scene. What an incredible show 👏
I cry thru this entire scene. It’s like losing friends and I know it’s the final episode.. I wait 3 weeks and start series over. Best Show ever & music soundtrack
been rewatching this series lately and still so impressed with the acting ; especially rachel griffiths and lauren ambrose .oh and the ending ....claire seeing nate in the side view mirror makes me tear up everytime
This episode (having the whole show already ingested) makes me think about life like no other film, show, song, book ever. Every time. I can't even watch this video without crying. THANKS.
My first death experience was my brother, I was 5. It was and it has always been something in our family that happened and left a scar on everyone in its on way. I'm 32 now and I've seen so much death in my life and yet I can't seem to get a grip on grief, even though I know so much about it. This show was painfully relatable in so many ways and so heartwrenchingly beautiful. I think in another life I would have been a mortican.
Great series..... remember we are all in line, some are in front of the line, some are in back of the line, but we can't get off the line.........life is unpredictable, enjoy every moment given and don't take life for granted.
Literally every time, EVERY TIME I end up crying at this ending. It's been almost 10 years since I watched it and it still gets me every single time. The absolute most perfect ending to a show of all time.
I've probably watched this about 1,000 times now, and I can't even hear "Breathe me" without sobbing. This is THE BEST finale ending I've ever seen. Ever. I don't know a single person who wasn't moved from the ending. Even my stone faced stoic fiance was bawling when he finished the series with me when I rewatched again.
4:30 I've watched this closing sequence dozens of time. I can NEVER watch it without weeping. Then we get to this point in this commentary, I'm just shy of "ugly crying" and you make me burst out laughing with tear rollings down my cheeks by saying Billy "Talked Brenda to death going on about Claire. Thank you for that.
I have watched six feet under and the cast was so great it makes u appreciate life and how quick it ends it's reality the writing was something Micheal c hall. And Jimmy sisto and Lauren ambroso amazing I cried like a baby the last episode thank u for a great series and writing
I'm so glad to have got to watch this while the series originally aired and so remaining unspoiled. Without having any idea what to expect, the losses came like gut punch after gut punch. It's the best series finale I've ever seen or likely ever will. Pure brilliance.
It's 2024 and I just watched the series. I'm glad I didn't see it when it originally ran. I had just lost my brother in 2002 and to this day I am still grieving his loss. The ending of this touched me so much... We are all so close to death. We are here for but a fleeting moment in time. When Ruth sees Nate on her deathbed I lose it. Most of my family is on the other side and I imagine I will have a hell of party waiting for me when it is my time. While I fear death I am comforted by the thought of my loved ones greeting me at it's door.
I finished the series on Monday of this week, makes it my 8th or 9th time so far. The last episode always make me cry, and it has for different reasons as I've lived my own life. There will never be anything else to compare, Six Feet Under was well ahead of its time and will always hold the benchmark for a series finale. Brava/Bravo Cast and Crew!!!! ♥

Hands down, the most epic series finale of all time. Such complex artistry and emotion. It took me years to be able to talk about it with anyone without being consumed by my own emotion every time. Total perfection.
Love the little detail in Rico his death where he feels his arm before he gets a heart attack. And it's symblism in letting Claire live the longest while she started the series out not knowing what she wants out of live and end up living the best and longest one.
I found this show two weeks before my mother passed away. I always hoped she would heal but it wasnt God's will. However this show helped me during this grieving time, I didn't see death as an ending, but more of a transition.
Six feet under is one of my fav series from all times and unfortunately, I wasn't able to watch half of season 4 and season 5 during that time. Last night I finally watched it and I need to say that since the last 3 episodes I did nothing but cry, it was such an amazing finale, the episodes the entire 5 seasons Its just the perfect ending, I wouldnt ask for anything but this. :)
God I wish he would have explained Nate's line of "you can't take a picture of this, it's already over"... it gives me chills every time. And I'm not even sure why.
It's always weird how cardiac death occurs. With Rico, you can see him grab his left arm suddenly because that's where the referred pain apparently struck. With my father in 2014 it was his bladder that was struck, making him think for a second and a half that he had to do a number one...
I'm late to this party as I just finished binge watching it on Netflix. I wish I could have a mind wipe to forget I watched it. And then watch it again. Truly the most beautiful ending to an incredible series. I'm going to rewatch the ending scene several times after I write this. I need to. Not just want to. But, I need to.
I always loss it when David sees young Keith
It’s amazing how David Reunion with Keith took David in such a surprise that Died imminently
The same way Keith left this world abruptly.
That’s the bit that gets me too.
I always think about what losing Keith to violence must have done to David considering his PTSD after his own ordeal.

Both great shows in their own way… but I was so unhappy with the finale ( last season) of dexter and very pleased with this one. As many people said I would be 😊
Now I binge anything on Netflix or other that has Michael in it.

What an incredible show 👏
Omg, I can just imagine the amount of tears in this audience right here.
Every time I watch this it makes me cry (including this time)...only piece of film that does it. Definitely one of the best finales ever.
Still remember watching the very last episode... 🎶
sniffle sniffle 😖😢😭
This episode (having the whole show already ingested) makes me think about life like no other film, show, song, book ever. Every time. I can't even watch this video without crying. THANKS.
Dang it..still brings me to tears at the true brevity of life for all of us..
The best finale I have ever seen in a series to this day. Conclusions are difficult...this one tops them all.
Great series..... remember we are all in line, some are in front of the line, some are in back of the line, but we can't get off the line.........life is unpredictable, enjoy every moment given and don't take life for granted.
TV gained the status of art with Six Feet Under. Congratulations to everyone involved.
Literally every time, EVERY TIME I end up crying at this ending. It's been almost 10 years since I watched it and it still gets me every single time. The absolute most perfect ending to a show of all time.
They are killing with this Song😪...So Beautiful 💔
What's the name of this song??
@@melissagreer4738 Sia - Breathe Me
I’ve always considered this the best ending to a show EVER. Thanks for posting this.
crying. I just watched the show for the first time and finished it. What a mind blowing ending! time is just insane
Fuck, I am smiling with tears in my eyes....what a show...what an ending... The best in history.
Best HBO SHOW OF ALL TIME
Thank you for uploading this. My favorite show of all time and I loved hearing AB’s comments.
OMG when David sees Keith...
This is amazing, thank you for uploading.
Sia's song was the perfect choice for the finale!
The best ending to any show ever. I think I’ve watched it 20 times now.
One of the best shows ever! Fantastic. Thanks.
I have watched six feet under and the cast was so great it makes u appreciate life and how quick it ends it's reality the writing was something Micheal c hall. And Jimmy sisto and Lauren ambroso amazing I cried like a baby the last episode thank u for a great series and writing
A show ahead of it's time ♡ TY
What a treasure to stumble across on UA-cam this morning ♥️😍😘
Incredible series! Loved it!
Man this song. It has to be the most sacred, perfect song I've ever heard.
omg I don't even know how I came across your account but hi Bruce! I'm obsessed with this - thank you for posting...I would've killed to attend whatever this was.
I can't for the life of me figure out how UA-cam works for someone who posts "content." Tbh, I was just looking for a way to get some videos off of my phone. They were taking up so much storage. I also have no idea how UA-cam algorithms work. So, you stumbling upon it is just as bizarre to me as it is to you. LOL. But I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I was posting it for all the people who should have been in that theater. And I know there was many of you out there.
@@octoberxswimmer Thank you for posting this video. I appreciate it very much and I feel like I had the honor of attending this special event. I just wish it had been linger so we could've seen more!
I just finished watching this in its entirety, the next day I was debating on going to a rainy st Patty's day parade with my friends or not, I went! It was great, live life. Great show 😁
Hands down, the most epic series finale of all time. Such complex artistry and emotion. It took me years to be able to talk about it with anyone without being consumed by my own emotion every time. Total perfection.
Omg I cried so hard 😭😢😫😩😪I cried for a week after this episode. It was the best ending
One of the best series I've ever watched. Instantly fell in love with Sia after hearing this song. Excellent work Mr Ball.❤
Love the little detail in Rico his death where he feels his arm before he gets a heart attack. And it's symblism in letting Claire live the longest while she started the series out not knowing what she wants out of live and end up living the best and longest one.
This show got me through a huge breakup and grad school. Thank you.
Best series finale ever... I still tear up when I see this...
So emotional! Sia is a queen.
Thank u for acknowledging that. Sia is a great, great part of the emotional impact this last scene had for all of us. I am sure of that.
Love this show best ever
I will always love this TV serial,so touching.
This series was ahead of its time. I’m watching it right now in 2022. It’s funny to look back at things such as technology 20 years ago.
Rewatching this in 2022. I'm pretty stoic, but I balled like a baby at the last scene. This is one of the best finales in the history of all series.
I was so invested in the series, I loved it. This ending was the absolute best
Still brings me to tears, btw I'm 22 years old just a reminder to everyone that people of this generation can still find and appreciate the good stuff
God I wish he would have explained Nate's line of "you can't take a picture of this, it's already over"... it gives me chills every time. And I'm not even sure why.
It affects us all so much, because it describes how fleeting life is. Moments go by and you cant get them back. Very powerful
I watching this masterpiece more than 20 times . Best tv show ever ✊
Easily a top three show ever made
It's always weird how cardiac death occurs. With Rico, you can see him grab his left arm suddenly because that's where the referred pain apparently struck. With my father in 2014 it was his bladder that was struck, making him think for a second and a half that he had to do a number one...
This ending is as touching as Philadelphia. Perfect song for an ending.
Omg I would have died to be there ❤️
It is the BEST finale in television history.
I cry every time
