Im 14 and a year 10. Im trying to do my research on this job because I really love the idea of counselling. I really hope i can make a great future for myself.
Thanks so much for watching. That’s great that you’re looking in to Counselling. I’d highly recommend, it’s a great field ☺️ feel free to DM me on Instagram (@thegraciouslife) if you have any specific questions.
Hi Anna It's great you have an idea of what you want to do at a young age. I wouldn't be scared of going straight into work after school to get some life experience too.
This is a very interesting video. Thank you for posting this. 😁👍 one good thing that has come from this lockdown situation is that it’s given us time to reflect on our paths and where we are going. I’m definitely going to do this, I’m in the UK and am just in the process of looking into starting my study. ❤️
I went through the same thing just like you. Im currently finishing my bachelor's in psychological science, and a diploma in counselling and I was considering doing a graduate diploma in counselling as well. In the mean time, I am running a private practice and gaining those hours and experience.
Hi! Sorry for the delayed reply!! Thanks so much for watching!! I do plan to make more videos on this topic, but in the meantime feel free to follow me on Tik tok (the gracious life) as I’ll be starting a new series over there with info and tips for people interested in becoming a Counsellor ☺️
It took me 36 years to find it too..this is the perfect field for people in our age group we have so much knowledge, experience & wisdom by this time in our lives.
me too 😊 i have always been an old soul, it never crossed my mind i could study masters in counseling. i am happy i can share more of my gift with people, which is bringing light through kind words
Im wondering whether to do a Diploma or a Masters of Counselling. The Diploma is cheaper and quicker but Im concerned that it wont give me enough experience. Maybe it is enough to start a private practice with general client issues. Or maybe I should do the full 2 year Masters and make sure Im fully qualified and feel more confident in my abilities. What do you think?
Hi There, thanks so much for watching and commenting. I think the Masters degree will definitely give you a better stepping stone into the counselling field. Another option would be, is to do a Bachelor or Master of Social Work and do the Diploma of Counselling along side that. I think this will give you a well rounded step in the counselling 😊
Thank you so much for making this video and for creating your channel, it is so helpful! I'm from the UK and graduated with a BSc degree in Psychology in 2012 and ended up in teaching but have always wanted to get into counselling. I am hoping to pursue counselling in Australia, is studying a Masters in Counselling the best route? I have seen information online about Diplomas in Counselling as well and am not sure which option is the better route. If I obtained either of these qualifications as an international student, would I then be able to apply for counselling jobs in Australia or are there other further steps required? I am also wondering how common visa sponsorships for a counsellor are in Australia. I'm sorry if I've asked too many questions....!
Thanks so much for sharing! Was it difficult finding work as a counsellor after graduating? I'm wanting to do a Masters in Counselling but am a bit nervous about not being able to find a job after 2 more years of study!
Hi Charlotte, thanks for watching. During the Masters degree that I completed, I was fortunate enough to get a job through the place I did my placement, so that was my first step into employment which I guess you could say came easily. Having the experience from that job helped me with securing future positions. I have to say though, there are a lot more counselling employment opportunities, if you complete the Master of social work. Hope that helps 😊
I am actually a student still, but I wanted to look into counselling because it seems so interesting. I wanted to learn more about counselling because in history, we always talked about counsellors. I also watch a lot of talking shows and I was always so interested. Do you think that it is a suitable, well paid job?
I’m a LLB law graduate looking to do a conversion course such as counselling and psychotherapy accredited by the BACP. I’ve done a three year extended diploma in health and social care which I loved. Would you recommend another conversion course instead or accredited by BPC x
Thanks so much for watching. Congratulations on your Law degree! Can I just double check, are you based on Australia? If not, I’m so sorry I would be unable to give you any recommendations as the registration regulations for Counsellors are different in all countries.
Wooooow! You are so like me. I don’t like Maths too 🤣🤣🤣🤣 and I watch a lot of Oprah hoping to one day be a talk show host, sitting down a talking to people. Now am considering counselling. Girl...we are so alike...God bless you! ❤️❤️❤️
I’m considering Masters of Counselling part time while working corporate full time, which would take me 8 years to complete if I don’t fail any subjects. Is there a massive difference between masters and Graduate Diploma, which would take less time? For instance in salary?
Hi, thanks so much for watching. You would need to check the outcomes of each and compare where they will take you, such as registration options. If you would like further info, or would like to book in for a one on one consult, please check out my website www.withthegraciouslife.com ☺️
Hi, I would love to be a school counsellor, and I'm currently in Adelaide too!!! I'm struggling between master of counseling or Master of social work. What are the differences? Can I pm u please? Thanks in advance x
I noticed you are in Australia??? so am I and have been receiving signs to do counselling. What's your opinion on the best course or uni to study and practice?
The Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy is a great course, however the job prospects are limited. I would recommend doing a Social Work degree and majoring in Counselling 😊
@@thegraciouslife_counsellor thank you for your insight! So instead of doing Bachelor of Counselling (3 years) I would have greater opportunities to do Bachelor of Social work majoring in Counselling (4 years)?
Chantel Kpoviessi are you planning on studying in Nigeria or in Australia? If you are planning on studying in Nigeria....I’m sorry I’m not too sure what courses and job opportunities are offered there. Hi, thanks so much for watching and for your kind words! I would suggest looking into volunteering opportunities in the first instance. In Adelaide we have a phone counselling service called lifeline, they take volunteers and provide them with some initial training as well. I’m not too sure on the services available in Victoria but a quick google might give you some answers 😊
Hey there! Thank you for making these videos.. I'm currently from India and I've completed my bachelors in computer science. However, I deeply wish to pursue Masters in the field of Counselling and secure a job at Australia. Could you suggest some pathways for me?
I'm currently studying my bachelor in psychological science and counselling and thinking of doing the Master but wondering would this allow me to become a registered counsellor or no?
Hi there, Thanks so much for watching my videos and for reaching out ☺️ I’m actually working on a project for Counsellor’s and Counsellor’s to-be looking to get into the field, I hope to share more information within this project. I’ll let you know when this launches. In Australia anyone can actually work as a Counsellor without any formal registration. However, there are registration bodies such as PACFA which do make you seem more legitimate if you are registered. When I studied the Masters in counselling and psychotherapy at Adelaide Uni I could register once graduated, but I think that has changed now, and you can only register once you’ve completed 200 hours of client work as in the field after you graduate. Hope that helps! 😊 I’d love if you could also follow me on Instagram as I will be sharing updates on the new project soon! @thegraciouslife

Hi there, thanks so much for watching 😊 when I entered, the entry requirements were based on GPA, 500 word letter as to why I wanted to do the degree and an interview. It was quite competitive but definitely worth giving it a go. I’d recommend contacting the Uni and asking further details 😊 all the best!
hello thanks for your videos it was very helpfull for me however i was wondering how smooth did everything go during your master in conselling did you encounter any trouble and what are the requirment to get in your course is it free or do you have to pay to get in? is there a age limit? is a diploma obligatory? i am from france and i was thinking of going in the uk to do a criminology/conseling course but i was also considering australia i have heard that you get paid more over there
Hi there. Thanks so much for watching ☺️ The Masters degree was really good, the only issue was getting all of my placement hours completed within the year, so I just had to extend which worked fine. As a domestic student I didn’t have to pay up front, it went through a student debt system. As an international student you may have to pay up front, it would be best for you to contact the University and check. There is no age limit, but to get into the Masters degree I had to write a letter as to why I would like to do the course and I had to have done a Bachelor degree before it, I also was interviewed. Unfortunately I’m not aware of how it works in France. But it’s definitely a great career path here in Australia 😊 hope that helps!
