What she is realizing from this video, is why we were the way we were in the first place. People didn't understand us, and for some of us still don't feel understood. Music like this made us feel not so alone, and Korn was one of the first bands to really vocalize and say what we all felt. These are one of those bands that have forever affected music, and will probably be forever relevent. Regardless, thanks for appreciating the musicians in rock and metal, we are way passionate in what we do, and love doing what is challenging. Glad you liked it!

Start from the beginning: Korn - Blind Their entire first album is amazing. The song Clown has one of the greatest studio outtakes ever. Go through the whole album, but be forewarned that Daddy is a screwed up song as well as an inside as to why Jonathan Davis writes the way he does.
Daddy is def a screwed up song. People on the internet SUCK so bad they voted on Daddy to be the first KoRn song Brad & Lex (another reaction channel I watch) listen/React to. IMO I don't believe those people to be true KoRn fans or just terrible people. I think so have to have a sense of the band before you can really get that song and not be like "WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST LISTEN TO?" lol. I do agree it's a great album and Daddy is a must listen but you did the right thing and gave them a warning.
That switch up is so sick, good heavy rock has this ability to make you feel completely pumped up from a moment like that in a song. Foo fighters pretender gives you that powerful feeling too.
Ice Cube did a lot of music with Korn. This song you did has a lot of Ice Cube on the album but Ice Cube did a song on one of his own albums with Korn called Fuck Dying.
Back when Korn ruled the world!!! Good reaction, loved the breakdown and even if the meaning is not really what you first thougth, I can see how you would think that and it´s a very interesting interpretation of the lyrics. And that´s what a first reaction is all about! Because everybody who listens to songs for the first time (this one or other songs) has their own interpretation. Back in the day I thougth it was about being crazy or something, and only years later I read about the meaning. It´s all good, and yes Asia, we have all been kids and did and think in a way that we now know it´swrong :) Peace!
Wow! I love how you guys took the time to interpret this song. GREAT job!!!! Thank you!! Asia, when you said “shots fired” it really helped me to more fully understand the song. 👍😊
He's talking about how the industry treat their artists like property, like dogs (freaks) on a leash. Like their lives are no longer their own once they sign on the dotted line.
I like you guys for listening and understanding Korn and people like us. To me, Korn is a type a song that will help me out when I'm low and something to enjoy. I use to be hip-hop head and r&b, but as soon as I aged on my early 20s I was open to other music genre's. Korn fan for life!
Here is a few popular ones that you guys should react to...Down with the sickness by Disturbed, Toxicity by System of a Down, Bodies by Drowning Pool, Happy by Mudvayne, Duality by Slipknot. Seriously though, I rarely see anyone reacting to Mudvayne so it would be awesome to see you guys check em out. Love you guys!
It really is dope how open-minded you both are to everything in music, this is my high-school years to a T, but never in my life did I think I'd see you two reacting to it. Killing it with the uploads, much love ya'll. Funny thing is I didn't appreciate rap until I was like 30 because I didn't grow up with it, now it's my favorite genre. But just like ya'll the older I get the more I appreciate musicality in any genre. The lead-up to the "go!" then the riff gives me goosebumps every time on this song. Just so good. Cheers.
I know you put this video out quite some time ago but I wanted to share a couple things. KoЯn really became the voice for so many people suffering from PTSD, childhood trauma and I've never heard another artist so perfectly describe Dissociative Disorders in their music. There's a clip of Obama making a funny joke about being mistaken for Jonathan Davis (lead singer of KoЯn). It was about a mix up when JD was visiting veterans in the hospital when they came back from overseas. Their official video Falling Away From Me picks up exactly where this one left off. I think that video gives a good understanding of where they are coming from. I don't know if you can truly understand KoЯn until you've listened to the song Daddy and what happens at the end of that song. I'm grateful they kept the recording going because (along with many other people) it was the first time I stopped feeling alone in what I was going through. Daddy has a quite number of reactions and I would say if you choose to listen to it, just be prepared. But it's an important song, a necessary song. You talked about why they had a letter backwards in their name. If you look at that and many of their album covers (Untouchables, Serenity of Suffering, Issues, etc) you'll see themes of a skewed childhood. It's nothing anyone should have to live through, but for those of us that did and also suffered other events that caused PTSD, this band has been a life saver. You can go on any video of theirs and someone in the comments will say, "This band saved my life, literally!" And that's true for me too. Thanks Asia and BJ for giving this band some love and thank you JD and KoЯn.
I was one of those kids in all black drawing in the back of the class not giving two f's about what the teacher was saying..ive felt and seen the judgment in kids faces. Thank you for recognizing that
I really enjoyed this reaction, so much so that I just subscribed! I was one of those kids in high school. When I tried to fit in, I was bullied, until I found my group of friends & outcasts, & embraced my weirdness, finally found where I fit in, but life has never been easy... I really appreciated what you said about being unfairly judged for being different, and that we're all just people at the end of the day, & you never know what someone is going through in their life. I discovered Korn in the 7th grade, when I was going through a really hard time in my life, & they've been my favorite band ever since, their music got me through it. Jonathan Davis (lead singer) writes all the lyrics, & he draws from his own life experiences, it's like a release for him, kind of therapeutic. I've been through a lot of the same experiences in life as Johnathan, so I can really relate to Korn's music, it's so emotionally compelling. And their music is so heavy, but groovy, but angry, but creepy...so many different sounds, they're so unique. Anyway, loved the reaction, I can't wait for more Korn reactions, that's why I subscribed, keep 'em coming! Thanks you guys!
Your honesty and genuine reaction open minded approach to different musical genre and styles. You're a great team keeping it real From Toronto Canada peace to all one love
I've seen Korn play with Snoop on stage back in the late 90's. It was either in Milwaukee or Alpine Valley, I can't remember anymore. lol I've seen them several time.
This video was THE SHIT back in ‘99. It was on MTV at least once an hour, back when they actually played videos. I was 21 & in my first apartment back then. Man this brought back memories.
I listen to all genres and I love watching reactions and hearing that light bulb moment of “now I see why people love this. It’s good music”. Awesome. You should react to Oasis - Champagne Supernova
The lead guitarist for Korn, Brian "Head" Welch, is a born again Christian now and is still with Korn but also has a Christian metal band called Love & Death. Their new album is called Perfectly Preserved and is really good. It has a lot of heavy guitar riffs and Head does all of the harsh vocals for the band.
A lot of what you‘ll find is that KoRn very much taps into the underbelly of society, and they bring attention to the subjugated and downtrodden. They can connect to fans who feel like they have issues, and to many the music is therapeutic. The growls and screaming are more than just ear candy, a lot of it is using music to release your frustration and pain. I’m not going to suggest that you don’t have that in hip hop, but when you consider even the band playing, like how do you make a guitar sound sad? How do you express anger or suffering through a guitar? These guys have had years to master their instruments, and their music is popular because it resonates within all of us. The “Nu Metal” sound blends hip hop and metal elements, and reminds us that wherever you’re from, we have something in common. Everyone struggles with mental health in some form or another, KoRn lets us know that it’s ok. I’d suggest “Make me bad” or “Falling away from me” from the older catalogue. The newer KoRn music is great too, and they come back with new energy. You’ll notice the difference if you continue down this hole (I hope you do).
I worked late sooo tired... but love your channel...and esp when your listening to muh babiez Korn...Listen to Daddy.. why I love them.. opened up his life to us ... love you2*~
Another Great Reaction 🙏 Their video for 'Falling Away From Me' is a continuation from this, so I'd love to see you react to it. Rock/Metal/Alternative really speaks to the Lost, the Frustrated, the Abused, the Unloved, but there's so much positivity to be found in it as well. It got a lot of us through tough times. Nirvana opened the door for me when I was a teenager.
It's not kids. Adults have the closed minds, we project that onto our kids. Congrats on opening your "eye" to another level. I'm trying to keep an open minds eye too.
After a few years / tours Their lead guitarist went to Christianity, not sure of the whole story but after years an years of drugs an bad choices He’s a man of god now
You get a like from me. You nailed the meaning of the song and even had a mature objective retrospective. It is exactly that, 'shot's fired'. When the little girl puts the bullet back in his hand it's just like, hey, kids are kids and even adults sometimes don't grow out of it. Legit, good shit.
I am so glad that you let the song open your eyes up to different perspectives. It was beautiful to see. If you’re into Korn and there style/messages; I highly recommend Disturbed. They have some hard songs with deep meanings and ballads that cut right into the soul. Plus, their singer has a distinct voice with cantor and operatic vocal training.

We all judge based on looks. Those same kids looked at you and thought "why do they wear those shoes, those sweaters, etc" - Hands down easiest way to judge someone is on their outwards appearance, we all do it. They dressed that way because that is simply the way they expressed themselves with others like them. For instance I can't understand why someone would dress in an NFL sports shirt, unless they are playing sports currently in the NFL. I think what I wear is "normal" but it's only normal to people who think the same way I do. Not saying it's right - but it's our nature. Peace to all, love your clothes, love your music, love your art - difference is what makes us great, we just gotta stop hating over it!
I was exposed to metal in 2003. A friend of mine gave me the very first Slipknot album in 9th grade. And I loved it! It was crazy and like nothing I had ever heard before! Before that I always listened to hip-hop and r&b. Because I grew up in the inner city. But once My parents moved us to the suburbs . I got exposed to so many different music genres. And I hated living in the suburbs at the time. But now I appreciate it ! Because it made me who I am today. And yes I use to look at the metal and punk kids like they were weird, lol. But once I really started digging into metal a few years ago, it’s really opened my eyes to the amount of talent they have! And now I can’t get enough of it,lol.
~* I was so seen as being a goodie goodie ... muh friends got in muh car... I blasted me some Korn..24-7...I danced sooo hard..sang and played muh guitar.. well air one ;) hahah *~
Nice moment you two were discussing the high school people who might be a bit different than mainstream. Frankly, really recognisable, and very true and honoust, appreciated. This particular song is not fully about this topic, though KoRn still offer T-shirt saying ‘Still a Freak’. Not because people are freaks, no one is, but to remind people are different, and nothing wrong with that. Maybe check out ‘Clown’ by KoRn, fits this theme, the band didn’t have a smooth ride themselves in life, especially Jonathan. Anyhow, I really like your reacties, keep it up!
High school in the 90s was rough. I was goth all day. I think the way i dressed stemmed from The Crow and NIN. Its like you're showing your suffering through style. Instead of peacocking in the club you're bummed out hiding in the shadows🤘
I can see why you would hear this and think "you could rap to this". This album has that kind of groove to it and JD kinda talk-sings through the verses. You may wanna check "falling away from me", the music video picks up from this one and the song itself is super iconic and cool.
Loved your guys’ reaction, as always 🖤 Korn is amazing. I’ve probably seen them live more than any other band. Also, can we just talk about the cell phone technology when this video was made? 😂
As older people, any of us can feel like a freak on a leash at any time really...our jobs, our bosses, our family lives, our spouses, our friends, our society, our position, our race, our situation, our economic status...any of this can make any of this feel this way.
Loved this reaction, I was one of the "freaks" in the 80s , in that time there was only ONE, in our small school, me,lol. But outside of school I was an alien, and was bullied since 6 y old. I had the strength to be goth in school and therefore was accepted. Outside it was hard. Ppl are cruel.

Listening to music is so different, when listening as a music lover vs a musician.
When the "GO!" hits live, you feel the crowd JUMP and it's fucking incredible. I feel revived after every concert I go to.

Straight Cali vibe.....back in the day...braids..flannels.. make me think of ice cube "war & peace" album vibes..
As someone who used to do the all-black, dark type of style, I appreciate when people can look at that with more understanding than judgement.
11:57 love it when asia gets deep in the vibes
Nice moment you two were discussing the high school people who might be a bit different than mainstream. Frankly, really recognisable, and very true and honoust, appreciated.
This particular song is not fully about this topic, though KoRn still offer T-shirt saying ‘Still a Freak’. Not because people are freaks, no one is, but to remind people are different, and nothing wrong with that.
Maybe check out ‘Clown’ by KoRn, fits this theme, the band didn’t have a smooth ride themselves in life, especially Jonathan.
Anyhow, I really like your reacties, keep it up!
This song is actually from 1999 (recorded 1998) So its 22 years old, and that just made me feel even older :D
Asia, you nailed it. And I really appreciate a d respect your honesty and humility. Growth
High school in the 90s was rough. I was goth all day. I think the way i dressed stemmed from The Crow and NIN. Its like you're showing your suffering through style. Instead of peacocking in the club you're bummed out hiding in the shadows🤘
The R is backwards in KORN for a nod to kids R is that some of them worked at as kids.
For John Davis(singer) the meaning of most songs is very meaningful/personal.
I can see why you would hear this and think "you could rap to this". This album has that kind of groove to it and JD kinda talk-sings through the verses. You may wanna check "falling away from me", the music video picks up from this one and the song itself is super iconic and cool.
I really liked your fresh thoughts on the video with the bullet. Never thought about it this way all these years lol
I love her commentary on now she can appreciate the different music genres more as an adult.
Korn has some bangers. Coming undone is a good one🤘
Yeah this song came out a lot longer ago a lot of people look at UA-cam dates this song came out in like 1998
Loved your guys’ reaction, as always 🖤 Korn is amazing. I’ve probably seen them live more than any other band.
Also, can we just talk about the cell phone technology when this video was made? 😂
At the end of the song is what I call him going full cookie monster and I love it.
Notice when you see the band all the bullet holes in the walls around them from their previous experiences
Super underrated reaction channel. You guys are awesome
Korn had a big hip hop vibe. Recommend y’all check out Play Me with Nas, or Kick the PA with DustBrothers
*Korn (Shoots & Ladders) & (Blind)*
🌽korn be rockin fr!!🎸💯 do more their live mtv unplugged is really good they do a song with the cure on that called make me bad its AMAZING
Favorite Korn song! Great reaction!!
Song is actually from the late 90's, so over two decades old which is craaaaazy. Ahead of their time.
this band is a part of the 90s 2000s crossover/ New Metal beginnings
The video was done by Todd MacFarlane, Spawn creator. His art is dark and captivating.
Still are huge, and they have a heavy hip hop influence
Korn- Got the Life
You'll enjoy that one
The band that ruled the 90s
BJ so patient lol he like "Babe, can I please start the video back up"?!
As older people, any of us can feel like a freak on a leash at any time really...our jobs, our bosses, our family lives, our spouses, our friends, our society, our position, our race, our situation, our economic status...any of this can make any of this feel this way.
Never went to High School. The few days I went to school in Middle School I wore gorilla slippers and 30" pants at the heel
you gotta check out Korn's cover of Cameo's Word Up. great cover. groove old school
Can't wait for more! Great job!!
