Thank you so much Kelly. I have been going through a bit of a rough patch lately in trying to handle some difficult times and in trying to "Be with This" with a mental health person. Your exercises helped me to change my perspective of this professional whose anger was overwhelming the compassion I wanted so much. Things did not go well, but I am learning how to be with it. I have certainly come a very long way since 1990 and I feel that in a big way I owe my very existence to your ability to be with me and my sorrow and anger. It is good to be able to learn it from the other side so that I can see more how to be with the lack of understanding I find in others because I know that Being sick isn't my fault, but getting well is my responsibility. Still, without people like you, (Aikido and all), Marsha, and my current doctor I would not be here today. I miss you; especially when I find others that cannot be with me/this but I am strong and the bind is still there. K. Trollinger aka Katherine Rich.

Thank you Kelly. My daughter has not yet been diagnosed with BPD - but between her research and mine - probably so. She is just a couple weeks out of the psych ward - which was spurred on by consecutive days of rage - usually including threatening to kill herself or me. On the day that she had decided that she should go to the ER - she concluded it with slashing my paintings - but she still left with me after that. In your exercise - when you asked to recall a difficult situation - that was one of a few that came by me. They were kind of beyond being able to " be with it" - but I am a follower of Tara Brach - as is my daughter - BPD just trumps sane ideas. that being said - I will be with it - but not when it becomes as dangerous as it has been. I appreciate this video.

Haha. I lead a skills training group and I kind of feel the same way. I do to make exercises that involve practicing skills...

      What does she mean ?

@@martinjack5048 As far as I understand it, she is saying that we are like a space in which things appear (thoughts, feelings, sensations, etc.). At 17:40 she says we are like a place where weather happens - weather being similar to emotions.

I am a client of DBT at the moment and I have to say that I find these exercises to be tedious.
