I love riding early in the morning before the world wakes up. Worked out well for the Dragon ride. Fun to watch the endless leaning back and forth through that 11 mile trek. And it is amazing how little traffic you have to deal with. No one in your rear view mirrors and open road forward. Mid--April is a good time for the Dragon! A great first time on that route.
I like the quiet morning rides too. Generally not a fan of traffic. I thought people would get bored with a video of a "quiet" run like this on the Dragon.

Planning to get a Vespa. Hopefully this year. I love this kind of videos. Very relaxing. No crappyy background music. New subscriber! Ride safe always.
I rode it this past Sunday 07/21/2024. The new surface was nice. I had a small red SUV meet me in a curve on my side of the road, it was a little hairy. We did it early afternoon and there was little traffic.
Have a 2017 GTV300(Sei Giorni) with Akrapovic exhaust, Bitubo suspension and Pirelli Diablo Rosso tyres and love ripping through twisties like that. Awesome ride.
I put your video up on the big screen this morning and it was even better than watching on the IPad! No one in front or behind (I ride in the mirrors) for 11 miles! Crazy! Natural crash site is not a good term! Frame the photos for the garage! Great ride! Thanks for sharing! 4” of snow this morning, so this helped! Thx!
Nice! Im getting a modern Vespa soon (is my plan anyway). Have three vintage ones PX200 -86, PX200E -97 and GS150 -62. But im not a fan on long rides on 10" wheels.
Boy, what a road to ride when you haven't ridden for a while. You would certainly be up to speed again when you got done, not just that road, but any road in that area.
Seems like early morning is the best time to ride. Makes me wonder if the other riders are … ah, sleeping in from the previous Saturday ‘night’ activities? Yeah, pretty odd with the VW observation. Great looking ride.
I just retired and I'm wondering what the best machine would be to ride the Tail bc I heard that the Grom is best and I no longer have one. Should I haul my practical Piaggio out there from the Charlotte area? It's faster than a Grom (top end) but no gears to work with. Maybe I should just throw my list away and kick the bucket when it's time. Nice video.
I would ride whatever you like. Don’t think it matters much. CVT vs clutch and gears will be a different experience, but just preference in the end. Have fun!
Now that looked like a fun & enjoyable ride. The inmates in Ja Mama section will critique you to death on road position, form, speed, approach, etc. I guessing you trailered the Vespa to NC?
And about the squirell licking the blood off the road ... I don't know what movies you watch or which Steven King book you are currently reading ... but it was probably juice from a squashed berry? 😉😉😉
It's funny. I saw someone say the ride is a very different ride depending on which direction you are going. I enjoyed it both ways, and didn't give it a second thought. The road is 129 South of Knoxville. I don't know the area, but it basically connects Maryvlle TN with Topoco and Robbinsville NC. It's a pretty ride. Maybe someone local will chime in and tell you more. I was just passing through for that one day and didn't get to explore the area much.
Im considering a Ford Transit for transporting my 2018 Super for just such trips. I really enjoyed your video to Estes Park. I did that trip some years ago on a rented Harley. I think I’d enjoy more on my Vespa. lol

@@flatgrindrides Nothing boring about it!
Vespas are so much fun the only people who complain about the are people who’ve never ridden one for any length of time.
I would feel dorky im so used to motorcycles. 6'3" 212# on that little thing? 😂

This ride is pure fun !!! My Kymco 125 Agility would do really well on this road. It is fast & handles great. Stay safe
Cool pics 🙌
Thanks for the new video.
I live in England and don’t ride mine enough.
I will soon.

There’s no worse feeling than committing to a corner in the twisties and seen another vehicle coming towards you on the wrong side of the road. 😂

I like your channel, I was leaning with the video this morning :) made me want to ride my HPE.
👍😂
Great video as always Sir. Greetings from Poland
Thank you very much!
Nice, don't want to sleep through that ride!

The snow is crazy. My wife sent me pictures this morning. Love the CO climate, but the late snow is not so great for riding!
Thank you so much for uploading this video! (No annoying loud Nissan.) Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!!
Nice tour, regards from Germany
I liked your video !
Also, your “ lines “ , I thought were perfect ! 😊
Thank you! 😃
Love watching this ❤❤

Yep. Sometimes the early morning rides are the best. 👍
@@flatgrindrides I find the morning hours are those times in the day where you have more quiet and solitude.
@@ScooterwolfsMotovlog Agreed. Sunrises are pretty too.
@@flatgrindrides very much. I’d worry about deer, but some times it’s worth the risk.
In the Philippines we have something similar and gets really crowded to the point that road being notorious nowadays for vehicular accidents.
Fav Vespa color..
Awesome. Use the Smith System of Safe driving!
I had to google that. Don't remember ever hearing of it, but apparently I agree with it!

I got it down there on a hitch carrier. I driving to the area to do other things and this was a bonus!
Did this on my harley ultra. Now i wanna do it on my 300 gts
It’s fun. 👍
They are repaving the Dragon this May.

I've seen all the "viral" crash videos. I know you are covering up the truth! 😉
If ya had to guess, what’d ya think your average speed was throughout the ride…?
Ride safe.
Cheers!
🛵🏁🎯
Thanks! Somewhere around 30mph average. 11 miles distance and just under 22 minutes video time.
@@flatgrindrides thank you. Ride safe. Cheers! 🛵🏁🎯
Much better riding with no traffic!
Thanks for sharing.
Does this road go to a town or lookout? And is it more fun going up or going down?

How do you transport your Vespa ?
Normally, I just ride it wherever I’m going, but on this trip, I was traveling by car and I put it on a hitch carrier. Kind of like a big bike rack.

@@christophersmith2537 if you plan to be trucking it around a lot I think that would be a great solution. Glad you enjoyed the video, thank you!
do you find it has enough power on those hills?
Enough is relative, but yes. I had fun and didn't "need" more.
What size Vespa?
GTS300 HPE
Kinds reminds me of the Adirondacks where I live and ride.
That's a pretty spot too. I bet you have some great rides.
Some sections remind me off the Ardennes (Belgium) where I live. And yes, we have a lot off VW's too!!! 🙂
😀👍
Drive slow there is no reason to go fast on that road
Yes, but you know that boys like to have fun and make trouble…
