Thank you Bijahn! Sadly I'm not qualified to give recommendations for other people's skin, particularly for something as varied and significant as any type of acne. It's a complex subject but luckily I've personally seen an improvement using French pharmacy brands that have targeted acne ranges (like Avène and La Roche-Posay). I hope you can find something that works for you! ☺️👍 x
Hi, Matilda! Another great video. Thanks! I fell in love with the La Roche Posay Hand Cream during the COVID shut down. I have three special needs children whose school was closed during the pandemic, and we had to do remote learning for nearly a full year. I was washing my hands a LOT, and my skin became RAW. I started using the La Roche Posay hand cream, and it forms a barrier on your skin so you don’t wash it off when you wash your hands. It literally saved my skin! ❤
I was in Germany in December and my skin wasn't holding up to the cold. I remembered your Weleda(original) recommendation from the older videos and picked it up from a local pharmacy. It was the product I didn't know I needed☺. Little goes a long way. My skin is loving it in the southern US winter as well. Love your edit as usual.
Oh yay, so happy to hear that Pooja! I know it's been a big help for many people 💚 The original Skin Food is so thick so I usually mix a tiny bit into other products, but maybe I should try warming it up in my hands and patting on a small amount now that my skin is more dry these days! x
Love watching your videos. Been a fan from very early days, it’s always been like hanging out with a bestie who loves skincare. Thank you for all you do to make beautiful content.
Thank you Ashley! Oh gosh, I don't think the new formula has reached us in Australia yet... or at least my local pharmacy still has the original on the shelves. What are your thoughts?! 😱💙 x
Hi Matilda, I am really curious to know your opinions on the reformulation of some of Glossier's products, especially the BDC. You are one of the only people I trust when it comes to lip balm and I always love your Glossier videos. So if you can get your hands on them, I would love to see that in the future. ❤
would u ever revisit glossier products? i know youve mentioned youve grown out of glossier but id really love to see what you think about the new balm formula!!! also welcome back!!!! i hope youre having a wonderful year so far!! 💓💓
Thank you Ciera! ☺️ Absolutely! There are still a few Glossier products in my routine but I'm actually planning to revisit the whole range and share updated favourites to help people navigate the upcoming Sephora launch x
I’ve been waiting for this one! My star product this winter ( Canada here) is Caudalie Vinosource serum. I’ve been using it on/off for 10 years but now I decided I’ll never be without it. I also reintroduced oil in my night time routine, I love Herbivore Rosehip Phoenix oil. So happy you’re back, I hope you’re doing well ❤
Really liked all your picks :) Bioderma micellar water has been my HG for many years and I finally picked up the Embryolisse moisturiser after watching your old French pharmacy skincare video, been really enjoying it! Would love to see you do some more fragrance related content, would you consider doing it? x
Thank you Joyce! So nice to hear you're a French pharmacy fan too ☺️💙 Sadly I don't have much more fragrance content up my sleeve because I'm so loyal to Jo Malone Red Roses haha, but I sometimes share other scents on my Instagram! x
So happy to see that you’re back! My 2022 discovery was Dieux - Instant Angel moisturizer and the forever eye mask. For me Instant Angel is almost a dupe for the Augustine’s Bader cream, which my absolutely skin adores, but my budget does not. And the forever re-usable eye mask is game changing. I put eye cream or serum on as a last step at night, put these on, pop on a sleep mask and wear them overnight. It’s stunning how much they plump up my under-eyes - bags gone, fine lines gone. For me, a miracle. And they’re reusable - zero waste!!
Thank you Lisa! Ohhh don't get me started on Dieux, it's been top of my must-find-a-way-to-get-it-in-Australia wishlist for so long! It all sounds amazing 👏 x
I’ve missed your videos! Really enjoyed this. I have (thankfully) unproblematic skin so have never had a skincare routine, but have started incorporating a few products this year-and was surprised to find that it made a difference (surprise surprise) and I enjoyed the process. Excited to hear you’ll be exploring some more affordable brands; really eager to get your perspective on which brands can measure up to the luxury brands for quality and results.
Thank you Maris, I'm glad you're enjoying the process! I love the ritual of skincare to signify the end of the day / unwind before bed / bring me some peaceful moments 💙 x
My favourite video of the year 😄 It was a dry skin year for you but for me it was oily skin year my skin went from normal to oily and acne prone so I had to streamlined my routine to a cleanser, niacinamide serum, adaplene and moisturizer and finally got it under control still working through some of the hyperpigmentation left
I'm brand loyal to Paulas Choice and The Ordinary. But I have been thinking about outsourcing a new serum. I'm really into Cermides right now so I might try the Dr Jart one!
ive been waiting for this vid!!! love these videos and your channel so much- you should do a complete out of shower/bath routine, starting right out of the shower to going to sleep!
Thank you Paige! Ooh I like the sound of that. I'm actually trying to implement a proper evening routine this year - I always do my skincare but want to make more of an effort with body care, facial massage etc to unwind before bed, so I'll think about this! 😄🚿 x
Yey, skincare favorites! I heard b5 reformulated , but I haven't tried it yet ( still working though my jumbo tube) This year i also loved cosrx snail mucin range. I finished a pot of their snail all in one cream, and in conjunction with a cent Ella ampoule from 1004 skin, did wonders to soothe redness and repair the barrier on my nose. Also have the essence now, but for my skin i think i see more results with the cream. This year I also ventured into KSunscreens, and replaced my regular ultraviolette supreme with the instree sunscreen. The texture and finish are very similar, but in my country the price is about half for the isntree one. Might buy later in the year an UltraViolette one in summer, just to help me with proper dispensing ( love that pump) Besides cicaplast i also used a couple of tubes of Dr Jart Ceramidin cream, but find somehow the LaRochePosay more soothing. New cleanser and moisturizer discovery. Bioderma Atoderm range is also great. I discovered it through my mom's derm, they have a lovey big tube of foaming gentle gel cleanser and a thick balmy moisturizer ( slightly more creamy than cicaplast) and they both worked great on me.
Yay Anca! Thank you for sharing these insights, lots of great discoveries here. I don't think the new LRP Cicaplast Baume B5 formula has arrived in Australia yet.. I'm still working with the original! The COSRX cream was already on my wishlist but your review has sold me 💙 x
Welcome back Matilda!!! Hope you’re having a great and wonderful start to the year so far! Thanks for the reminder to re-apply my sunscreen! Immediately got up and did it haha! So glad to have you back! As well as a new wishlist of things to try! A wonderful and great video as always!🧴💄✨💖💗🫶☺️
Always love your favourites videos, seeing the same products pop up year after year really helps me know where to spend my money when it comes to products. Would you ever consider using a subscription like skin&me or dermatica? not sure they are available where you are but they seem to be really popular
Thank you Fay! I'm glad you don't mind seeing repeats ☺️ In the early days of my channel, I did use an Australian custom skincare brand called Hop + Cotton and their steps really helped my skin during a pretty persistent period of adult acne. I don't have experience with any other services, but I think the concept makes a lot of sense if you have particular issues you'd like to target! x
Hi there! You can find an Australian Beauty Favourites video on my channel from back in 2020 (I don't think I'd change much on that list!) and an even earlier Australian Beauty Gift Guide video with suggestions of products to check out if people are travelling here from overseas 😄🇦🇺 x
Bioderma's Hydrabio Micellar Water+Necessaire's Body Serum+Drugstore sunscreen yearround(+plus FF Aveno during the winter) is all I need in the mornings and Bioderma's Gel Cleanser+The Ordinary's Retinol 1% in Squalane+FF Aveno works at night. It's been working WONDERS for my skin , so I'm enjoying keeping it simple!
Yay, I’ve been waiting for this video and checking everyday! It’s been French pharmacy favourites all the way for me so far this year and my skin is happy. The Avene Cleanance cleanser is slightly too drying on my skin, although I do use it occasionally for a really good clean, so I recently tried the Avene Milk Cleanser and I ADORE it. Don’t know how it manages to make my skin feel soft and hydrated yet so clean!! I also tried the Avene Tolerance Skin Soothing Recovery Cream on your recommendation and my skin loves it. Although I usually prefer lighter textures in summer, it absorbs beautifully and isn’t oily or greasy. Have you tried the Clinique Take the Day Off Balm as a first step to remove makeup and sunscreen? I recently bought a mini from Mecca to take on holidays and it’s life changing! Thanks for the great content as always Matilda.
Thank you so much Brooke! 🥰 Great to see lots of French pharmacy action here. Definitely taking note of that milky Avène cleanser! I haven't tried the Clinique balm (I know I should be using two different cleanser textures but I often just double cleanse with Cleanance) but I know it's very popular. Glad you enjoyed it! x
It would be so amazing if you did a video on lip liners! I'm trying to figure out the most affordable brand that is also packed with pigment. For example, the Kimchi Chic Beauty lip liners are $7 and look very pigmented but I haven't tried them myself for fear of wasting money.
Great video as always!! :) I'm keen to try Allies of Skin peptides moisturizer but oh my... was surprised to see the price tag on it, even with your discount code. Ouch! I'll leave it on my to-try list for now or perhaps.. wish list for a birthday present :D
Great to hear Heather! 👏☀️ Ahh yes, most sunscreens won't really absorb in a 'can't feel it on my skin anymore' kind of way... but hopefully if you find a light texture you love, it can be more like the final step of your skincare for an added glow! Then you can mattify any areas with primer or powder afterwards if you prefer x
Hi! Loved your videos for years now ❤ I’m curious if you’ve tried any Rouje beauty products? I’ve been interested in purchasing from them and would love to know your thoughts
My skin barrier got destroyed last year, so I tried to wash my face with Avene cleanance gel. To my amazement, my hormonal acne practically disappeared, even when I got my monthly period, the #1 cause for my acnes. I combined it with the Vanicream daily moisturizing cream - my skin only get better these last few months. I’m planning to add Paula’s Choice 2% BHA toner into my routine, I’ve heard so many positive things about Paula’s Choice. I’m moving to Australia in 2nd half of 2023, definitely going to buy Ultraviolette sunscreen the minute I leave the airport. My skin type is acne-prone oily for reference.
Skin care has been my top priority for the last and this year. Finding the perfect daily SPF and using my serums and Tretinoin . I have switch to La roche-posay products and love them. So much hydration. Yesterday I add the Timless serum Co-q10 to help with my hyperpigmentation. I also started Snail Mucin on your and Dr. Dray’s recommendation. ❤
Hi Matilda! Love your videos. Especially nail tutorials. But a skincare question- is your favorite ultra violette sunscreen available in US? And if not, do you know of a dupe? Thanks so much for any reply.
My biggest skin discovery of the year was Glossier After Baume. That stuff blew me away. I buy it two at a time now because it’s a total PITA to get to my local glossier store
Ooh yes, I did test that out briefly and the texture was lovely! 🤍 Do you wear it as a moisturiser / layered after skincare to lock in your other hydration steps, or more of an occasional barrier repair product? x
@@matildaonvideo actually, it’s not strong enough to be my last moisturizer at night. In the day if I’m going to be fully indoors and not see sunlight I’ll wear it under foundation. It’s too much if I layer it under my sunscreen. At night I will mix it with a stronger prescription strength glycolic moisturizer. I do that no more than 2x a week. Then on other nights I wear it UNDER. Layer of aquaphor. I’m in my 40’s, dry, perimenopausal skin and also we sleep with the AC on probably 360 days a year so I need all the layering at night!
Love that you have consistent favourites, it’s nice to see the same products always showing up!!! What are your thoughts of the jurlique water essence? Also love their products but have never tried it!
I wish I could enjoy all that moisture, but I have 56 year old oily combo skin. Oil control is too drying, anti aging too greasy. Sticking with drug store brands for skin care right now: Neutrogena, ELF, Cera Ve. Sunscreen is luxury Super Goop Unseen Sunscreen, plus SPF in face tint or foundation. Face oils and serums in very small doses, usually only one, at night before bed, from ELF or a Sephora freebie. Would love to see something about brush and sponge cleaning, if possible please!
Must be a tricky balance but it sounds like you're doing well Valarie! Funnily enough, I already have a brush cleaning video on my list to film for an Instagram reel soon 😄👍 x
Hi there! I haven't tried any of their products unfortunately but have heard great things about that serum over the years. We have a brand in Australia called Ultraceuticals but I don't think they're related sadly 😅 x
I would love to see your review on hailey bieber’s skincare line rhode. Have you tried it yet ? And everything I buy is basically from your review’s matilda 😅.
Thank you Trishala, that means a lot! ☺️ I would *love* to try Rhode! The products sound fantastic but they always sell out instantly, and I'm trying to work out a new shipping forwarding service from the US x
My Favorite cleanser in 2022 is The Face Shop Rice Water Cleanser. This cleanser is so moisturizing, light , and it doesn't feel tight on my skin it is South Korea Brand and I love it so much
as always the video is amazing❤ i need to try most of these but i swear by Cicaplast, it's so good. Are you planning on doing bodycare favorites? i would love that
oh how I missed that particular Aussie accent ;) I'll definitely have a look into the cicaplast balm - it sounds promising and I could use a good calming cream just about now!
Thank you Celine! 😄🇦🇺 Just a heads up that Cicaplast Baume B5 has been reformulated recently so I'm not sure which regions are selling the new version. I haven't tried it yet, still using up some old tubes! x
Thanks for sharing Brenda! What are your favourite Kora products? I've never got over Josie Maran discontinuing those lovely watercolour blush pots 😭 x
@@matildaonvideo My favorite Kora Organics Products. Well too many to count. I Love Everything. Although, The Cream Cleanser I have to have. The Noni Glow Face Oil. Tumeric Face Mask. Honestly I have many more that I love. Josie Maran Body Butter, and Argan Milk are favorites.😊💝💝
The most important skincare video of the year 🙏
Haha wow, thank you! 😄 x
😊
I’m glad to see products useful for people who are prone to hormonal acne. I always want to switch up my routine but I never know where to start.

Must be a tricky balance but it sounds like you're doing well Valarie! Funnily enough, I already have a brush cleaning video on my list to film for an Instagram reel soon 😄👍 x
Hi Matilda! Have you tried SkinCeuticals products..? I kept seeing rave reviews of their C E Ferulic online and want to know what you think.
Hi there! I haven't tried any of their products unfortunately but have heard great things about that serum over the years. We have a brand in Australia called Ultraceuticals but I don't think they're related sadly 😅 x
Omg u know sunscreen is top notch when an Aussie recommends it 👌
I would love to see your review on hailey bieber’s skincare line rhode.
This cleanser is so moisturizing, light , and it doesn't feel tight on my skin it is South Korea Brand and I love it so much
Ooh that sounds lovely Jennifer! Thank you for sharing 💙 x

Thank you Valentina! Absolutely, my final hair & body favourites video will be coming soon 😄👍 x
Have you tried the brand kit yet?
I haven't unfortunately! I know it's Mecca's own brand, I remember having one of their nail polishes yeeeears ago 😄💅 x
I recently got Avene tolerance control & the thermal water and im obsessed.. love it on my irritated af red skin 😮💨
Yay, so happy to hear they're working well for you! ☺️💙 x
oh how I missed that particular Aussie accent ;) I'll definitely have a look into the cicaplast balm - it sounds promising and I could use a good calming cream just about now!
Thank you Celine! 😄🇦🇺 Just a heads up that Cicaplast Baume B5 has been reformulated recently so I'm not sure which regions are selling the new version. I haven't tried it yet, still using up some old tubes! x
@@matildaonvideo thanks for letting me know! I think I'm gonna give it a try either way and if don't like on my face it will suffice for my hands :)

🚀 The Bioderma product has the worst lid. So hard to open.
I think I've probably broken a nail in the past trying to break that initial seal 😂 but I find it okay to pop open now luckily! x
She is back!!!!
