When i was working as a medical secretary in hospitals. I didnt make big money. I had to thrift my clothes. I would buy solid color bouses and solid color skirts. Then i thrifted scarves that were very colorful and put different blouses and skirts to match colors in my scarves. Colors i would not put together on their own so this is right up my alley😊❤
One of my favorite quilting teachers told me , "pick a fabric you really like as your main fabric, then pull colors from it." Never has failed me, and I've transferred that process to making cards, just like you are suggesting. Love your play with the fabric inspiration.
Oh, Ceri, you are awesome!! A quilter!! WONDERFUL! This is why I never fast-forward during your working videos... we always learn something new about you! And I LOVE IT!😊
One additional comment Ceri. When I use a fabric swatch or picture to create my color palette, I also am looking at the proportions of the colors used in relation to the other colors in the palette. Those clues help me decide which colors are the bases and which are the accents or focal color.
Thanks for this video Ceri! I love when you teach your processes and the thinking behind them, it’s so helpful. I always learn something and get such great ideas from you.
Ceri, I always like your honesty about mixing colors. Getting inspiration for fabrics is a fabulous idea. I am going to try it after your video, take care, thank you Ceri.
Great approach and I swear we are on the same creative wave.... I have a little surprise that just arrived yesterday. Ohhh and yes every studio needs pliers regular and needle nose.
I had a little chuckle when you mentioned elongated blobs. I’m looking at a stack of gel prints and the top one has those elongated blobs. Always a pleasure and learning process. And my blob prints are waiting for stenciling and stamping. Thanks for taking us along.
Ceri, another fun video watching you select paint to create the colors you wanted to use to create the background and continue on with the stamping and creative use of the plastic grid. I never thought about looking at magazines for inspiration, but I do have a lot of fabrics that could work for me in this way. Love the way you explain and encourage during your videos.💕
One of the main reason I began watching your channel was because of the items you made for Gail Agostanali using Edith Holden. I remember what a great neat sewing job you did on the ephemera.
Ahh yes.... fabric is always a great inspiration for sure xx You mentioned that it would be fun to design fabrics.... I've had a go at scanning in my gel prints and printing them onto A4 canvas paper just using my Epson ecotank average printer. It works fine apart from the metallics which come out a little dull. The A4 canvas prints make great journal covers or can be sewn on so also cool for little bags/pouches etc and you can always jazz up any metallic elements. Remind me to show you...xxx
Interesting exercise. Both pieces turned out really well. When you brought out the meadow stamps my first thought was 'licorice allsorts'! Thanks for sharing. ❤
Hi Ceri! Scrubs have beautiful colors on them, too! I love both of your papers! (I pulled out a drawing book tonight, & the first page is a collage that I did in 2019! It has oranges, yellows, & greens - a lot like your wipe-off sheet!! Cool!!)
Beautiful as always, Ceri. Could you show a video sometime on how you got the grid on the plate and then have it the impression of fading back asking the edges. I'm not sure if you sponged on white along the edges of the grid or how you did it, but I love the look of it.
Debbie I’ll try and cover that in a future video however here’s a verbal version, I rolled out a thin layer of white paint onto the gel plate then lightly touched the 12x12 onto it in areas, for the red grid I rolled out red paint on my 5x7 gel press then used a piece of gridded non slip draw liner to pick up the paint and stamp it onto the background, I hope that helped.
Awesome! Love the project and the clean up sheet! I got a gel press finally what do you suggest purchasing to place it on top of for when I start using it?
Wendy you don’t need to mount it on anything, a lot of us content creators put them on plexiglass or acrylic plates so we can easily move them around whilst filming however if you lay it onto a clean smooth surface your gel plate will not get damaged.

I’m not a huge quilter but I’ve got a few on the go.

Very valid point, thank you

Great approach and I swear we are on the same creative wave.... I have a little surprise that just arrived yesterday. Ohhh and yes every studio needs pliers regular and needle nose.
Looking forward to it.
Colours are magical. They can inspire us in wYs we never imagined. Great video

Thank you so much for this one! I always have such a hard time deciding on color combinations.
It can be tricky Janet.

"There's very few of us running around naked." 🤣
Oh I don’t want to scare the neighbours, I don’t even undress in front of myself.
@CeriGriffiths same
Thanks greatly for sharing your fun crafting ideas, I enjoyed the process. Take care, kind regards from the land down under (Australia) 🙃 🐨 🦘
