Yesterday I went shopping for our first cast iron cookware. I found what I wanted and was not pleased that it was made in China. But further down the aisle on the other side was more cast iron. This was made in America, and it was made here in my state of Tennessee! I put the Chinese ware back and left the store with 2 pieces of Lodge cast ware ! I am so very glad that I found you!

Just bought my 1st Lodge Cast Iron set at Costco in Canada.I looked at the made in China product next for half the price next to the Lodge set and it didn't compare to the fine Made In USA skillet. Absolutely beautiful set for a great price!!

I was at my local WallyWorld store looking at buying a skillet for my wife. Side by side to the made in China stuff was the Lodge brand. It was a no brainer. Made in America, TENNESSEE UNITED STATES!!!
I own the Dutch oven with the dual top/10.25 inch skillet, the 12 inch skillet with the glass top, and the 10.25 inch reversible grill/griddle pan, and I love them all. The video is fascinating and got me curious as to how all the machinery and techniques were developed. I love watching videos of smithies hammering out farm equipment - very hands-on stuff - and I’d love to read a history of how the forge went from there to here. Did you say that the sand molding technology goes back to around 680 bce? I thought it was WAY earlier than that. If y’all could recommend some books about the history of everything that it takes to make cast iron, I’d appreciate it. If I had another life to live, I’d love to work at Lodge (the slag removal looked like fun)!
Ahhh I see now… they give it one layer of “easy release” seasoning for transport to prevent rust of course. That is why some of my pieces haven’t been able to hold seasoning very well. I will take it off and do it again. I LOVE the lodge cast iron, but I will redo the seasoning in multiple layers with actual adherence to the metal since I cannot seem to keep seasoning thick enough! Sometimes I can see little flecks of the metal shining through on my other brands as well. Looks like I have a project tomorrow! 😁 Out of all my modern pieces of cast, I like my lodge pieces the best. I’m also going to see if I can’t smooth out the surface a little more.
My first Iron cookware was a set from China when I was young and dumb. Looked like it was cast on the beach with iron not fit for a birdbath. Actually made food inedible and it is now hopefully rebar in a house foundation somewhere.
Cool video. I just picked up a Lodge D/O made sometime between 1920 and 1940 according to the RED book. Crusty, dusty and rusty, it was. But now it looks brand new again. Nothing quite as satisfying as cast iron restoration.
Thank you all for making excellent cast iron cookware and keeping it MADE IN THE USA!

I just love lodge!!!!!!
Great products for sure. Thanks for sharing and keeping it MADE IN THE U. S. A.
Fantastic video. Great to see and understand
Excellent video!
Nicholas Smerk Thank you, Nicholas!
I only buy Lodge for cast iron. I like to strip it bare and season it from there, the product is excellent and the material is top notch.
Made in the good ol us of a! Hurray for lodge
Looking forward to receive my first Lodge Cast Iron Skillet.
I love to know it is made in the USA.
Greetings from Bavaria/Germany
@ 7:22 Love that guitar.
Cool video. I just picked up a Lodge D/O made sometime between 1920 and 1940 according to the RED book. Crusty, dusty and rusty, it was. But now it looks brand new again. Nothing quite as satisfying as cast iron restoration.
big fan of your product, keep up the good work
i have the expensive "Field", and a few others.... but the Lodge it's still my favorite
I ♥ logde from south korea 🇰🇷
