I love that you went with red, white, and blue for the colors. When I was watching this video, a bald eagle flew in through my window, looked at the screen, and a single tear rolled down its beak. It then let out a mighty caw and flew off into the beautiful morning sunrise. I believe it was actually heading towards Lodge headquarters so it could thank all of you in person.
LOL Well said, you win the day.
Based.
So proud of my husband Lakshya and so proud of the whole team. Lot of hard work has gone into it.
As you should be! (Many of us are too :) He is a great American! Lots of hard work and problem solving. Thank you for helping him get this done for all of us.
I am a Chef and I own a variety of iron pieces--enameled and standard. I love all my Lodge pieces--some of which were passed down from my grandmother to my mother, then to me. I am so happy that you are making the new enameled pieces in the USA! Lodge is part of my Southern heritage and I will continue the tradition! Congratulations on some beautiful work, Lodge!
Thank you so much!!
If you had told 20-year-old me I would spend 17 minutes watching a video about cookware, I would have said you were crazy, but a much more mature me loved this. I even visited the Lodge website to see if you had any job openings. Sadly, no IT gigs right now, but I'll keep looking!
If you haven't already, be sure to sign up for the job alerts so you can be notified if anything opens up!
These look awesome and really looking forward to getting one. I've always liked that most of Lodge was made in the USA but it always bugged me a little that the enameled cast iron was made in China, so it is great that the manufacturing of the new pieces is now in the USA. Much more trust in the enameling if it is done here in the USA vs. stuff from other countries. Congrats on the new launch!
Thank you for bringing the enamel from overseas to the USA! I will definitely be buying the USA made ones to replace my Taiwan made ones!
You can't beat the quality of Lodge and the fact you can now buy 100% USA made enamel cast Iron!
Love it
Their Chinese enameled cast iron is some of the crappiest ECI in the industry.
@@DonaldRull Does that surprise you? There's no pride in workmanship in Chinese factories. The only incentive is to try not to get fired. That's all. Meanwhile, we now have several generations of people having been raised to think everything is supposed to be cheap and disposable. I'm glad to be seeing a resurgence of the idea that paying more for quality, USA made products is better than buying whatever Chinesium garbage costs the least.
USA-made color enameled cookware... Very cool! Thank you, Lodge!
Chattanooga native here, we love our Lodge Cast Iron and very excited to add some USA enamel real soon.
We visited the Lodge museum and factory store recently and i had no idea this project was in the works thanks for the video looks like we will be seeing you again soon!
We're glad the secret is finally out, hope to see you soon!
GREAT to see that your enamelware has gone USA Domestic! With the Lodge quality control in place, it will surely be the BEST on the market! The consumer asked for it and Lodge gave it to us. THANK YOU very much! Duke Gilleland, Texas
Thank you!! We are so excited about this new adventure!
So happy that you guys decided to do this! I will be buying one❤
Excellent documentary! Great job Lodge Teammates for make a beautiful- usable- lifetime product in South Pittsburg, TN USA! Makes me proud to say LODGE in conversations with people I meet! God Bless America!
Gorgeous product with a fantastic backstory. Way to go Lodge!
Oooooh I can’t wait! I love my old and new lodge pans. I’ve wanted an enameled pan and now I can buy one I trust - so excited!
I went to Walmart and I saw this beautiful red lodge enamel porcelain enamel on cast iron. I love the size and color. ❤
Absolutely beautiful!
Beautiful video! I love the transparency, the honest way in which you took us through the process. What a beautiful product. Well done Lodge team!
Oh my gosh how absolutely beautiful!!
Very well done in all aspects. Have been a loyal Lodge customer with their seasoned pans, skillets & pots for years, looks like its time to add to the collection!
Wow, i love seeing all of the hard work that went into this. Thank you for more great products to add to my kitchen wishlist!!
Nice. Gotta get one soon. Brilliant colors.
Thank You for your dedication to quality & making it in the USA.
Gorgeous. Ive had ur DO for years...the deep purple but I am excited for these that are made @ home. Thk u for providing more American jobs and great cast iron👏🏼
I haven’t seen these yet, I guess it’ll take a while to get some to Australia. I only recently got two of your original cast items and although getting use to using them, we’re really happy with them. Will keep an eye out for the enameled ones.
Great story! Excellent product!
Looks really sharp
Beautiful 🤩
This is absolutely fantastic to see. I've been waiting for enameled cast iron that is Made in the U.S.A for years. I'll buy most pieces. Thank you for making it in America and for making this video.
Your pieces are truly works of art!
I just stopped by one of your outlets in Pigeon Forge today and picked up the 6qt in blue. Beautiful! We're looking forward to expansions in the line. I held off on buying a braser until you release one in this line.
I use lodge skillets in my home and firehouse. I use Le Creuset at home and Staub at the firehouse for enamel. I'm glad to see you making this level of enamel and can't wait to test them at home and station.
Love Lodge products!!!
About time! I only have one life of your enamel but will surly buy more if it’s made in USA.
We hope you'll tune in tomorrow to learn more about how it was made!
It’s beautiful!! Love this documentary!❤
Thank you so much! A lot of hard work went into making it and we are so excited to finally be able to share it with the world 💛
Congratulations on a fantastic new product! Well done and kudos to all the Lodge family!
I love this all-American product that Lodge is finally coming out with. Le Creuset has been making enamel-coated cast iron products for a very long time. It makes me happy to see that we are finally catching up to this fantastic product. Hopefully it will be better-priced than the French equivalent since the cost of Le Creuset is outrageous. I will definitely be buying Lodge's enamel-coated cast iron pots and pans in the near future. Great video...makes me proud to be American!!!
What a great story!! Video looks great, way to go Lodge creative team!!
Thanks so much Megan!
I need these pots and pans immediately
I'm happy to see Pavarotti is still alive he's just making enamelware
I love love to see how things are made, created. I think that's human nature. I was blown away at what goes into making a little thing but it really is a BIG thing! Thank you. Now I want to own one and want to share this with my family!
Thanks for tuning in!!
I have a few pieces of Le Creuset but wow your Dutch oven looks amazing, congratulations in persevering and getting it done 👍🏻. Great team effort 👍🏻
Thank you!!
So excited about this! I was just recently looking for this product Made in America, and was surprised Lodge wasn't at the time. I passed on the purchase because of that, but will definitely be purchasing soon!
We can't wait for you to try our new enamel line!
❤ just bought my 1st blue cast iron Dutch oven. Got it at homegoods!!!
Now I need videos on what I can do in it. I'm looking into sourdough bread and dairy items. As my "blue" items are for dairy only😊
I got mine as a Christmas present from my husband. It’s beautiful and LOVE that it’s made in the USA 🇺🇸
I have the 12 inch and 10 inch classic skillets, also the 8 quart and 4 quart seasoned camp dutch ovens. Love cooking over the coals and my Lodge cast iron. It's just amazing how food comes off that iron. Wanted a dutch oven for indoors, and now I know what I'm getting. USA made lodge enameled dutch oven. When you find something that works, stick with it. Thanks, Lodge, for the great products!
Get your message out! Love it!!!
Ohh, I see Detroit in those pans! The swoop! Thank you, Lodge from SE Michigan.
I can't tell you how happy this is going to make my wife (and all of us) when she gets one of these for Christmas!
My wife has wanted a nice enamel oval dutch oven for years but we just couldn't find anything that wasn't Chinese made (besides Le Cruset which costs an arm and a leg and makes no sense to import from overseas.) We ALWAYS try to buy American Made for the quality and to keep the jobs HERE and support our countrymen and economy.
We knew you could do it and trusted you. You have not let us and America down! Happy to pay for the Strong American Made tradition - now improved upon! :)
I know what im putting on my bday wish list!!! ❤
yas!
Please make a usa-made cast iron waffle maker. there is NONE out there. America loves its waffles, come on now!
YES There ARE!! You're obviously not looking.🤨 Appalachian Cast iron makes cookware in the mountains..including waffle irons.
@Lodgecastiron now you need a special edition yellow one that looks like your logo!
Building an enameling facility from the ground up was step one, but there’s more to come from us as we grow this manufacturing capability 😎
@@lodgecastiron I have no doubt that anything you come up with will be awesome!
Very nice and functional
I own 5 Lodge skillets and 1 dutch oven. I did not realize how beautiful your enameled dutch ovens are, I have to get one! I thínk your enameled dutch ovens are better looking than my Le Creuset dutch ovens. Your documentry made me proud to be an Amercan!
Thank you so much for the kind words Paul!
Finally!
Great job on the video
Thanks Nathan!
Thank you for doing Enamel in the US. I'll buy one.
Love Lodge and was happy to see the new enamel piece! Quite out of my price point at this time, but definitely on my wish list 😊❤❤❤
Lodge has made it affordable for fans like myself to own quality cookware that'll last for generations. I prefer the bare cast iron ones, as I know that all ceramic coatings will invariably chip. Extra effort has to be made to mitigate the chemical reactions between ingredients and iron, but the joy of using them far outweighs any inconvenience.
Let me tell you- I love my Lodge products so much that I tell my wife that if she leaves me, I will keep my Lodge pots and pans. She's not a fan of the pans because they're heavy, and of course, they don't have color. She loves the Le Creuset brand a lot because of the color, but she can't bring herself to buy them because they're so expensive (and they're just as heavy). She says that she will be so upset if she chips the enamel too. Go figure. I'm sharing my story. Hope you guys succeed and keep these high-quality products coming!
To be honest, I was at first put off with the cost of the new enamel line. But to be fair, after seeing this and the process Lodge went through to incorporate and build a first of its kind dedicated in house enamel factory is truly inspiring! I can now understand and appreciate the price of the new product line. Amazing job Lodge! 👍
In fairness it is pricy for what it is. It is still made from imported materials and costs dang near 400 dollars and I can buy a Le Creuset 15.5 quart Dutch Oven for 470 or a 13 quart Dutch Oven for 370 which is around the price Lodge is selling for and it is made in France, twice the size as their biggest and well made.
Wow, great work, Lodge! I have a Le Creuset, but I'll be looking for your enamel too now ;) Nothing like American production and ingenuity. You guys make fantastic cast-iron.
I'll check it out for my kitchen.
I plan on purchasing my first USA Enamel, a six quart Dutch oven. I already have a lodge wok and 12" skillet.
I'm so in love with my cloud white dutch oven and more excited that #imanoriginal with the medallion and certificate. ❤
We can't wait to see more of what you make in it!
I have so much of your stuff I'm probably on a list in your company HQ. My UPS guy hates me because of the heavy Lodge orders lol. But ill get some of this as soon as I can afford it
We appreciate your support!!
Shut up and take my money! Lol... I'm so proud for y'all. Doing excellence. We've been passing down cast iron from woman to woman in my family since my great grandmother, and i look forward to adding some beautiful colored pieces to my daughter and future granddaughters! (PS, please do a colored trivet series. Everyone needs a good cast iron trivet. But with a pop of color and the right design, I'd hang it on the wall). God bless and best wishes for an excellent 2024!
I applaud Lodge for taking a huge step and learning the enameling process and actually producing in the US….BUT I simply don’t understand the knobs and “unnecessary” inserts in the handles that Lodge insists on making in China. In this video, Lodge states that they are a small company….it looks quite huge from the drone footage. There are thousands of metal shops in the US who would covet a contract with Lodge to produce the knobs and unnecessary inserts right here in the US. Lodge also owns Finex Cast Iron in Oregon and they produce their own stainless and copper handle grips. Lodge has come this far with customer demands to produce enamel domestically. It’s a testament to patriotism and US job security. But I will wait. When I see that Lodge Enameled cast iron is 100% “Made In The USA”, stainless bits and all, I will be FIRST in line to buy each new piece. I’m confident it will happen.
Hi there! We appreciate your honest feedback 💛
We made every effort to source and produce our custom stainless steel knobs and accents domestically but did not find a supplier who could match our manufacturing needs. Our team spent more than a year searching for the right partner to produce these items. If we could have found a partner in the US, we promise you we would have.
@@lodgecastiron ….then, like your new, USA made enameled cast iron, make them yourself…
or better yet…ditch the inserts and knob and make the entire lid of cast iron with a loop knob on top, like my vintage Descoware from Belgium 🤔
I want this so bad!!!!
I bought one of Lodge's enameled cast iron Dutch ovens that was made in China and found out it was made in China when I got it. The enamel popped off on the cooking surface inside the second week I had it. Lodge customer service said it was fine to use with a nickel size spot of raw iron and whatever bonding agent they use. I drilled holes in the bottom and made a planter out of it that was stolen in less than a month off my front porch. I bought one of these USA enamel Dutch ovens from the Lodge website that is being shipped from Atlanta, Georgia. I find that interesting. Hopefully it functions the way it is supposed to long term. The experience with the Chinese product drove me away from Lodge, and I have collected quite a few American made cast iron skillets from other manufacturers and replaced my Lodge products with them. This Dutch oven will be my test for Lodge products ever again. I have 3 Le Creuset enameled Dutch ovens for many years, and they are still all going strong. Hopefully this new Lodge product can stand with them.
USA Enamel is designed to last for generations 💛 In the event that it doesn't meet your expectations, Lodge offers the Made Right Limited Lifetime Warranty on all our products, including USA Enamel. You can learn more at www.lodgecastiron.com/lodge-promise
@@lodgecastiron I just received the 4.5 qt USA Enamel Dutch Oven in blue. It's very nice!! The cover handle stands off the cover a good distance so a thick pot holder can get a sure grip on the heavy cover. This is important to me. I also like the pot handles for the same reason, they are ample size to securely hold them when lifting a full pot of heavy food. The lid fits snugly and doesn't rock. It is finished very nicely and looks great! As soon as I unboxed it, I washed it with dish detergent and a sponge, rinsed and dried it. It is flawless. I filled it with water and put it over medium heat to boil water in it as I usually do with new cookware. So far I like it a lot. The handles are also great for handling a slippery soapy cast iron piece. I like the design a lot, it shows a lot of thought went into it.
Got to get me some enamel cookware…ASAP!! 🥳 👩🏼🍳
Looking at some of those designs - some look like Descoware. I just sold a Dutch oven that has the three rings on the lid. Be careful lodge. Le crueset owns descoware even though they discontinued the line.
I'll take one of these over Le Creuset anyday !
hey guys, are you exporting these to Ireland or UK? if so can you drop a link?
Any word on if you will be offering enameled skillet?
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Now THAT'S a video and a product worth waiting for!! I just wish you folks would do affiliate marketing! I could create some great videos to sell your products!!
Thanks for watching!!
I wonder if there will be an Lodge Egg Yolk Yellow color variant in the future...
What is the temperature and time
How many coats/layers of enamel are put on each piece?
Our enameling materials and process have been perfected in our South Pittsburg Facility, and we take pride in the unique recipe we’ve achieved. We keep some of this information internal to our Enameling teams, and do not share those details outside Lodge. If you’d like to learn more about our process, we have an article on our website! www.lodgecastiron.com/story/unveiling-craftsmanship-usa-enameltm
I will place my irder today
Is the U.S. enamel better quality than the line enameled in China? Is the U.S. enamel thicker? More layers of enamel?
Hi there! You can learn more about the differences between our two lines at www.lodgecastiron.com/story/lodge-enameled-cast-iron-side-side
If you have any questions not answered by the article, please email our Customer Care Team at info@lodgecastiron.com. Thanks!
I only buy USA made cookware and bakeware, so now I can finally own some enameled cast iron!
🥳🥳🥳
I really like this product design. I hope lodge reads this, I have a large family and we would really would need larger option for my wife(gotta feed the boys). For this I hope in the future you will expand the product line to something that will accommodate round ~13+qts and/or an oval ~15+qt.
Large families need a large option. Also the trim pieces I heard they were made internationally(assuming China) could you have a made in the USA Premium option or made in USA replacements considering this is supposed to be marketed to buyers that are looking for all American? This doesn’t stop me from buying it but it is mildly irritating to see stuff like that on a product with this type of marketing.

Because I didn't know, I bought the "old" lodge enameled cast iron dutch oven at dillons. I wish I would have known better, I'd have considered the "new" usa enamel for the higher price
For sure, when they roll out their skillets (if they do), I'll certainly grab one of those
God Bless America! and Lodge cast iron!!
I can understand why the the first product to come off the enameled production line would be the dutch oven. Probably the single must popular piece of cast iron cookware. I wonder what will be next? I just purchased a blue Lodge 3.6 qt braiser (casserole pan). My first enameled piece. It was made in China. I would assume other lines of enameled cookware will be coming too and some point. A braiser line perhaps?
Building an enameling facility from the ground up was step one, but there’s more to come from us as we grow this manufacturing capability 😎
@@lodgecastiron I figured as much. Having only one Lodge enameled braiser is certainly not enough!
Yet, still no smooth cast iron pans.
That will be in the works for the next century...
Make an enameled 3 quart coffee boiler. Everyone wants one to make their cowboy coffee, the ones on the market are garbage. Hook us up!
🐸👍
I love lodge I cook in nothing but cast iron! It never bothered me that you guys used to get your enameled pieces, enameled in China what does bother me is that as soon as I bought my first enameled dutch oven from you guys that I learned that lead, arsenic and cadmium leach from your enameled pieces so I haven't used m y blue enameled pieces from Walmart. That it has to do with pigments that are used and there's somehow an Acceptable amount of lead that can be allowed.
Hi there! All of our Lodge utilizes the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Test Procedure 7.5.1.4a Leachability of Lead and Cadmium for Glazed Ceramic Surfaces. The FDA Division of Compliance Programs uses ASTM-C738 as the Standard Method of Test for glazed ceramic. In addition to information provided by vendors, Lodge Manufacturing Company uses third-party testing to ensure that products with the Lodge name comply with standards set forth by the United States Food & Drug Administration. All our domestic as well as imported cookware complies with the FDA Standards. We are also in compliance with California Proposal 65, the world’s most rigid standard for lead and cadmium content. If you have additional questions about this feel free to reach out to our Customer Care Team at info@lodgecastiron.com
Hi, is your enamel Dutch oven all made in China? 🙏🙏
Hi there! Our new line of USA Enamel featured in this video is cast and enameled in the USA.
I think le crueset DIPS their pans in enamel. Then bakes it.
I don't care how it looks, I care how it cooks.
Some tough critics here. I wanted a dutch oven not made in China. I didn't know my opinions were so limited. Even staub enamel is made there from my understanding
I love all my Lodge cast iron, old and new. This enameled line is too costly. I'll continue to use my "tried and true" Corning Ware, Revere Ware, Crock Pot and Instant Pot.
I was excited to hear Lodge was making a completely made in USA enamel dutch oven, but I have to say, I'm not impressed with its design.
I don't like the look of the contoured swoop on the outside, and I could have looked past that, but why on Earth would you ever design a swoop on the INSIDE of the pot? That creates an unnecessary contour that makes it needlessly more annoying to clean. The inside of a pot should ALWAYS be smooth with no bumps or other contours whatsoever. Not only in regards to cleaning, but stirring and using the edge of a wooden spatula or spoon on the inside surface also becomes an issue because no cooking utensil conforms to that contour. Additionally, the raised edges of those contours on the inside will see more wear on those high points as it is cleaned over and over again, and those areas will begin to wear quicker. It's just so unnecessary. I would also be willing to bet that the pot's difference in thickness of the cast iron (due to those contours) may also create uneven temperature spots within the pot. Whereas a smooth pot with consistent thickness does not have those issues. It's essentially like designing a cast iron skillet with varying thicknesses. It just doesn't make sense.
Secondly, while the metal 'LODGE' badges on the handles may look nice, they are an unnecessary feature and a potential failure point. The badges and the mounting screws that secure them could become loose and/or break over time after years of heating and cooling cycles. Additionally, the inset for those badges, as well as the lettering itself, is a place for food and grime to accumulate over time. Not to mention, water will also get underneath those badges while washing the pot and could cause rust issues over time. Whereas a smooth, solid handle has none of those issues. Also, while it may never be an issue, the casting of the cast iron where the badges sit is needlessly very thin as well.
Thirdly, the lid's lift knob is not a good design. The sides of the elongated knob don't offer enough purchase for a good hold with an oven mitt or a hot pad, and even though there is added length on each end, it's not easy for an oven mitt or hot pad to curl and conform underneath for a good hold. Also, with the use of a hot pad, if your fingers do manage to curl underneath, it could also expose your fingers to coming in contact with an extremely hot lid, causing a potential burn. Additionally, because the elongated knob is not round, it relies on it being oriented a certain way just to lift the lid properly. I think of all these ergonomic considerations in regards to older people who may not have the best grip strength, and who may struggle with such a design. Whereas, with a traditional round knob, it allows you to pick the lid up with your hand oriented on top, and does not require you to curl your pad or your fingers underneath to lift it. And because it is round, it doesn't matter which way the lid is oriented in order to get a secure hold. You don't even have to think about it. Sure, you could replace the knob with a round one, but you shouldn't have to. For ease of use, it should have been a round knob. There's just no reason for reinventing the wheel when a round knob works safely, securely, repeatably and without fail.
It just seems that this pot was designed with curves and features that no one was asking for. Watching the video, it seems the team was too ambitious and was more concerned with incorporating styling cues from non-cooking items, instead of concentrating on creating a simple, functional item with none of the issues I've mentioned. I don't mean to say these things to disparage or to not appreciate Lodge's hard work, and all the trials and tribulations it took to create something that has never been done by their company before, which I do appreciate their efforts very much, but it just seems they've made too much of a needless departure with certain elements of this pot's design for their own good.
I was looking forward to buying one of these pots, but sadly, I will not be.
I should also mention for the record: I say this as a dedicated Lodge fan and a decades-long user of Lodge's products. I have three Lodge skillets: two for the kitchen that I use daily, and one for camping, as well as a cast iron Lodge pot for open fire cooking. I have also bought several Lodge skillets for other people as gifts because I believe in their products. But sadly, this dutch oven won't be one of them.
We appreciate the feedback 💛
When I get the $, I will purchase a red Duch Oven. Happy that China no longer does the enameling.
When are you guys gonna get some robots/cnc machines and make some affordable machined smooth dutch ovens and skillets. Boutique brands seem to do well, i am sure you guys can make a better quality product cheaper.
I think Lodge needs to study LeCreuset process and go from there.
I love you are producing this domestically, but hasn't Lodge maintained the image of your current ECI products that are Made in China supposedly fully under Lodge's specifications, supervision and standards. Please tell me you weren't misleading us all about the crap Chinese ECI you've dumped into the marketplace? Let's be honest. Did you reinvent the wheel? I'm a ECI enthusiast, and hopefully you really didn't stumble through some of the well established knowledge about the ECI process as presented in this video clearly meant for customers that are fairly ignorant about Lodge's ECI rich product history manufactured in China, it should be a super easy move to USA manufacturing. I sincerely hope it's excellent. I will own every piece.
I am very disappointed in my enamel Lodge Dutch oven and casserole made in China.
The enamel chipped on both pieces, and the interior is stained and not non-stick.
I would love to see the new enameled pieces made in the USA and hopefully it will be worth replacing the crap made in China.
