    This show doesn't get the attention it deserves. It can be a bit goofy but behind many of the sketches are deeper points and some of it can get fairly dark. The end of this segment showed that when people with differing viewpoints talk in person, they can be more open minded and find agreement in some areas. When we isolate ourselves into completely like minded groups and only engage with differing viewpoints online, we end up with what we've been seeing the past few years. His Trump impersonation is also by far the best I've seen.

      I completely agree! I am amazed that this show doesn't have more attention.
      The writing is excellent, and of course Anthony Antamuink's Trump is incredible. I cringe when I see Alec Baldwin's Trump, although I love SNL, just not that impression.

      I think part of the problem may be people are already exhausted with Trump. On the main network channels you have Colbert and Seth Meyers focused on him every week night, the news is always about him (since he's the president and constantly doing or saying things that bring him attention), the Daily Show covers him M-Th on CC, Bill Maher on HBO, SNL usually has Alex Baldwin impersonating him during the opening sketch, etc. I personally rarely watch Colbert, Meyers, or the DS anymore and don't watch news on TV (prefer reading online), so that helps.

    • @jmitterii2

      Most of my fellow Americans have the moronic notion that the 2nd amendment "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
      Means it's lawful to carry weapons to commit treason should the government do something they don't like.
      But treason is actually a high crime the only one that specifies potential penalty up to death in the constitution.
      And they forget the other part, well regulated militia being necessary. They don't realize it's actually specifying the requirement of conscription by citizens aka the draft, that they maybe forced into military service an thus also require their own weapons (in the day muskets) because the government might be too poor to provide the conscripts with weapons. Let alone pay the conscripts for their service.
      It's the completely wrong notion that at any moment a person can rebel against the laws of the nation. Which is untrue of course: the US civil war.
      And that arms weren't allowed to be regulated at all. Nope. regulated militia specifies how the persons and their weapons will be regulated by the government... militia members who were injured or died often had their weapons commandeered for use in an active war such as the war of 1812 and the Civil War. Usually offered payment or promise to return the weapon or similar weapon at the end of such conflict or as soon as practicable.
      It's the creepy misunderstanding of the minuteman militia concept. They don't realize that these militia were "well regulated" meaning when you signed up for it, you were under strict military orders including potential punishment for desertion, treason, misconduct, not following the orders of a superior, etc.
      There's this really hokey fantasy that it was the illiterate dip shit drunks at the tavern who commanded themselves in the army and navy. When in reality it was the landed gentry who had were appointed typically by landed gentry governors and congress... the aristocracy held the peons in check. And desertion and failure to comply with orders was punished up to death; even Washington ordered the execution of some deserters.
      Stupid fantasy. And one that doesn't take into account of modern weaponry.
      It's screwy.

But since this is likely to be far more common in conservative households, especially those with inclinations towards white bigotry and white supremacy, it means most conservatives are being raised in families which have striking similarities to dictatorships. No wonder most Republican voters are blind to the clear dictatorial intent of Trump - and the general inclination of the Republican Party in that direction from McCarthy forward.

    I don't understand why people compare driver's licenses to gun licenses. Cars can be dangerous sure, but their purpose is transport, no one buys a car in case they ever need to run someone over. Guns are for one thing, killing, and how much actual training and examination actually goes into getting a gun license? You have to pass tests for your driver's license. How many states require tests and proper screening to get a license or permit? In some places you don't even need a license or permit to own a gun. I know Americans are attached to the second amendment but there should be stricter regulation across all states.

    • @lutascheier
      @lutascheier 6 років тому +16

      Don't think too logically about conservative arguments. They would say any- and everything to push their agenda. Only police should be allowed to defend themselves with guns. The public should only be allowed hunting and shooting for recreational and sporting purposes. And if you are affraid of attackers, then there is clearly a big need for more and better trained police with the right resources. And I don't mean the trend where police is looking more and more like soldiers. The solution is not armed citizens. That is without any question. Everyone disagreeing has an own agenda and is not concerned with civil and social safety and stability. Someone who is scared shouldn't have that much firepower but someone to call for help. This includes 911 that responds immediately and a patrol unit that gets there in minutes. And police shouldn't drive around alone.

    • @a.westenholz4032
      @a.westenholz4032 6 років тому +8

      Besides the 2nd amendment does not give the right of any citizen to around armed. It actually places very severe limitations to that right of ordinary citizens taking arms. You have the right IF you are part of a "well regulated militia" meaning part of the civil defense under some official regulation. Though for practical purposes there has always been made allowances for hunting etc. in practice, those who wrote the constitution had too much sense not to understand that you cannot have a lawful society where everybody seeks to take the law into their own hands and protect themselves against any perceived danger. But it seems that in recent years there has been a deliberate misinformation campaign all the way to the supreme court about how the 2nd amendment was historically understood. Now it seems to be understood to promote the wild wild West- basically anarchy.

    This is funny but Wtf is a military rifle. Most Automatic weapons are banned in the US and AR15s are not used in the military at all. They are semi auto.

      Anglo Americans are massive hebephobics.
      The think kis having social lives independent of teachers and parents is automatic delinquency.
      They think kids developing worldly instincts is evil.
      Yet, the adults themselves are oversized children themselves, wasting thousands of dollars a year on childhood memorabilia and rejuvenation treatments to feel under twenty again.
      In fact, adolescence is artificial psychology used to punish heyouth for their vigor/potential.

    Its funny 2:04 looking at generations that won't be here thinks they have the right to control the future where they don't exist anymore. Old people against future that keeps changing without their permission.
