This is a work of genius. The entire song is about rhyming unrhymable words in a manner so smooth we do not even notice. Verse 1 He spends his first few lines directly saying that we're about to witness a masterpiece. He says this with the primary words, "witness," "purest," "rawest," "flawless," "hardest," "honest," and "artist," all of which are essentially or completely rhymeless. (They have, respectively, 1, 2, 0, 1, 0, 0, and 0 rhymes.) The next line has the phrases "chip off," "old block," and "old dock," none of which have any rhymes. The name of the song is "Business," which has zero rhymes, and the theme of the song is Batman and Robin, both of which have zero rhymes. He employs both of these words in the subsequent line, and in the next line employs the words "Saddam" and "Laden," neither of which rhyme with anything. He ends the next line with the rhymeless word "pilot." He ends the line after this with the rhymeless word "hinges," rhymes with "oranges," "syringes," and then transitions to rhyming "inches" (again, none have rhymes). The first line of the hook ends with the rhymeless name of the song, "Business," which he rhymes with "what is this" and "get a witness" (which also has no rhymes). Verse 2 The first line ends with "miracles," which has no rhymes. He promptly rhymes it with "wilikers" and "syllables," neither of which has any rhymes. The next line ends with "Gotham," which has no rhymes, and the next line ends with "criminals," which has no rhymes. He rhymes "rap criminals" with previous "bat syllables." The line after this employs the phrase "skip to your lou" ("your lou" has no rhymes) and ends with the phrase "do best" (no word or word-string rhymes with this). He ends the next line with "do it," then "the shit," then "hated on," obviously no rhymes. He ends the next line with "no such thing," as if saying there's no such thing as a rhyme for it, but then immediately rhymes "no such thing" twice, and then says "so much more"-and rhymes it. Then, as if signing the piece, he finishes with two rhymes of his own name "Marshal," neither of which has any rhyme. Verse 3 Third verse functions the same way. In the first two lines he's found two rhymes for "duo" (one of which is the first two syllables of "you already"), and rhymes "dynamic" with "why panic," and rhymes "fully capable." He then rhymes "duet" 5 times in the space of 2 lines. In the next two lines, he rhymes "get to see an MC" with "these beats and be," while beginning a rhyme-streak with rhymeless "so freely"-as if saying he's still free even with the constraint of using only rhymeless words-and then rhymes it thirty times in eight lines. The whole thing reminds me of how Bach would impose extraordinary constraints on his work and compose within those constraints as if they weren't even there because that's how much of a genius he was. Eminem is the Bach of rap.
@LFR FAMILY The Eminem Show is the first rap album I hear as a child. I DON'T THINK people in the US KNOW just how much Eminem influenced RAP / Hip Hop outside US. Millions upon millions of people literally would've not heard of the style of music without him. Very possibly it would've spread around the world at some point. But he spread it up to literally everywhere around the world at an explosive rate at the begin of 2000s. He is the most influential rap artist world wide ever undisputed!! He increased the popularity of other artists of the same genre world wide ( by shouting them out and just by being in the genre) and thus helped them sell waaayy more records. Actually lets take that back slightly. In the style / way he rapped and the way the music around it sounded, might have been the exact reason he expanded the culture around the world. So Hip Hop / Rap might not be as popular as it is today without him!!! But enough about that subject for now. This song in it self is possibly my favorite from the album. It just sounds so easy to him and the way the it flows.
Agree fully I'm a white dude from the 🏴 when I was a kid I heard this and was hooked I knew nothing about hip hop/rap except pac but didn't listen like that until EM
the funny thing is that in non english-speaking countries, there was zero controversy about him, we listened to his music without really understanding the lyrics (internet was not as widespread and developed), but we still loved it. Because just his flow was mesmerizing, unlike anyone else.
I like how you don't force the ad aspect :) you found that sweet spot and that's why I watch you and am thankful for what you are doing. MM (not being rude) gave me strength during my darkest times and I'm grateful peace.
This is so weird I literally just woke up 30 mins ago (8.40am here in Aus) and this song was stuck in my head, hop on UA-cam scroll down my subscriptions and boom here it is haha that's weird.
All that played in the CD player back then was this and Get rich or die tryin. At least where I grew up I was like 12 or 13 or something that’s wild still ridiculous to this day the syllable patterns fuckin wild.
That Dre influenced Cali-like boppin beat and production with some flat out filthy lyrics was really something special and probably will never be replicated
The Eminem Show is hands down his best album in my opinion, MMLP made a lot more impact, but TES was a masterpiece, the best combination of crazy and mature Em, and to be able to do that after SSLP and MMLP, Em doesn't get enough credit.
speaking of elton you should definitely check out of some of his stuff since youve been doing that era recently can you feel the love tonight is a pretty powerful song!
When Elton John sang the chorus of stan live on TV, Slim shady and Elton John hugged, and it looked like Em really didn't want to do that. Like he actually gave in to the pressure that was weighing on him from little loud bitches, I mean from the left. And even if Slim was homophobic then, he knew enough to know that his attitude was hurting him. So he pressed on and pushed past it like Dre did with him being white. And now he has a legend as, a friend, an AA sponsor and an NA sponsor while growing into a better person. God bless him, but I miss the anger.
I think music to be murdered by, especially side B, really showed him having fun, and being goofy, whail killing it ofcourse lol. Hsd that old slim shady, with the matured marshall.
Literally the only reason ppl found mgk's diss funny was because it referenced that bar. I mean if people found remotely funny for any other reason then they are probably just clueless and really don't comprehend how much of a stan MGK was and probably still is.
@@shintenkai1648 yeah, thats awesome. I was obsessed with eminem and still love him but I listen to mainly metal now. I thought that part of his diss was kinda corny. I like MGK, but rap devil came out so quick that I thought it was just a filler line. Good to know lol.
@@shintenkai1648 how is that referencing this bar? ‘Grow beards, get weird’ has nothing to do with a ‘weird beard’, just the same two words rhyming AT MOST, he heard the line and thought of his corny bar from there, but it’s not a reference in anyway, and I don’t think he even got it from this bar
That's true about Elton I believe he was like 20 years sober at that time so helped him and you should react to Elton John and pink talk about em on the Graham Norton show from here in the 🏴 shits hilarious brah you won't be disappointed Elton explains how em isn't homophobic and that's coming from probablies if not the biggest gay icon in the world
James Brown, "Love Me Tender." It's an Elvis cover done right after the King's death I think you'd like. He settled the Elvis controversy and no one's opinion matters more than the Godfather...here's the best link: ua-cam.com/video/zrBk0WErpHU/v-deo.html
He's not the 🐐 but I ain't heard anyone else rhyme anything with 🍊. Come on now. His rhyme schemes, his double and triple entendres are insane. I don't expect simple minded ppl to understand. Everyone fears him therefore he has no real friends. It's a sad story. He's a friend to many but, ain't many actually a friend to him. Royce proved that most recently. Smh. Disrespect in the HIGHEST degree. Ppl can't get past his skin and that's just disappointing. I'm disappointed in Snoop and Royce and everyone else talkin that racist shit. 🙄
It's sad how much hate he's getting the fact people actually think his discography isn't worth anything, he literally introduced rap and hip hop to hundreds of millions around the world, there's murals of him in almost every major city in the world. The man is the greatest lyricist of all time. He might not be everyones taste and people might not think he's the GOAT but I do and if not the straight out GOAT then at the very least GOAT lyricist. He is literal rap royalty and if the pigment of his skin was different it wouldn't even be in conversation, everyone would say he's the GOAT it's sadly true, but also good to see people in the black community love him and respect the hell outta him. His legacy will be one of the biggest of all time. There won't be anyone else in the world like him and that's what puts him in the Pac category, no-one will ever be like them.
Slim shady > Eminem His old stuff is way more fun and sounds better in my opinion. Its also what I grew up with, anythijg after encore isn't for me. Encore isn't the best either

Nice
Damn, new appreciation for the song. Wow
One his very best songs. Period. So damn good!
He's actually a big comic fan. He said he'd be a comic book artist if he wasn't a rapper lol
And he said : " i would be a serial killer in hockey mask " tho

Did you have a lot of white friends growing up or around this time?
Why does that matter
