Unknown's concept before Tekken Tag 2 is such a curious one. Every fighter up to that point has trained their mind, body and soul to the extreme and then some to become the best, and then this unknown character, mysterious yet somewhat familiar to the Mishima family, uses their martial arts just like they do with an imposing supernatural presence (both figuratively and literaly, because of the wolf spirit behind her). Such a character would be extremely unlikely to even exist, and yet there she is... this "anomaly"... What convinces me that Unknown is a "thing" that shouldn't exist is that she is fought after the sub-bosses (who are often Mishimas or other characters with a somewhat close relationship to them), where the familiar faces of the cast end. Even her stage music reflects on the ominousness of this character with the faint voices and the simplicity of the music at the start that give the feeling that whatever you're fighting is simply not supposed to be there. Anyway, this is just me just over-analysing a 1999 video game. Merry christmas, everyone! And thank you for this TAS, Maina!
As I understand, Tag 1 was originally envisioned as an actual canonical entry, with Unknown planned to be Jun's sister for some story beats, but somewhere along the way Tag 1 became a dream match, non-canon game, and Unknown was left in this sort of limbo, surviving into the final game as we know her. _Then_ she was retconned again into Jun's alter ego proper in Tag 2... which is also not canon lmao
I honestly wish Namco did more things with that Wolf Spirit that possesses Unknown, like is it a variant on the Devil Gene, a standalone spirit, a malevolent offset of something from Wolfkrone?
I've kind of thought of the Wolf Spirit as its own "Devil". Perhaps there are actually multiple "Devils" but a person with the Devil Gene can only interact with one "Devil".

Not quite. The difference between them is Mokujin using each character's technique in one round. For example, it uses Kazuya's in round 1 then using Yoshi's in round 2 in the first stage. Then in the next stage, in the next round, it uses the different character's technique. As for Unknown case, she is Dural of Virtua Fighter franchise.
