We had to follow Metro Code rules when we built houses, & they've got good rules & dumb rules!! It's kinda dumb that they made you put those rocks there first, move them, & then put them back!! It could rain while they're trenching, you know, & all that mud will flow then!! 🤷‍♀️ That's somebody sitting in an office & thinking of ways to make themselves useful!! 😵‍💫🤣🤣🤣 Have a great day, Logan!! Looking forward to this build!!

I'm setting here listening to all the hoops the county is making you jump through just to build a house. As you were talking I thought you were in California but I see you are in North Carolina (?). I am from California and they have some of the strictest rules in the U.S..
Here in Thailand if you are building a house in the country you just build what you want. I am in the process of saving money before I start so when I'm done the house is paid for.
When I have the majority of the money saved up I will start working on the house. That should be in December some time.
My Thai friend has the land(about 1.5 acres) that his mom left him so we don't have to buy the property and that saves us lots of money. I will have an agreement on paper that protects me from being kicked out if he gets mad at me or if he dies and his family want's to kick me out.

Regulations make a house cost 3x what it would otherwise cost to build.

In mountain bike trail construction, we use grade reversals to prevent erosion. Is that a thing in road building as well?

Hey Jim! Most road builders don’t have the kind of skill it takes to build a grade reversal that would last and be easy to drive on.
