These overly large screens caused me neck probs too which is why I don’t have one. I used a 40” briefly a few years back and that was terrible as it was not just left right, but up/down. Current run a Dell u4025qw and super happy. Has a great usbc hub and not too large, not too small. I also have my aw3024 oled for gaming.
great review. I’ve had mine for a couple of months now. The wake up issue can be resolved by turning off the power saving feature. Just let your MacBook handle that part. Once I did this, it wakes up every single time without fail. Cheers,
Thanks a lot for your kind words - and your tips! I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, I did try to disable the power saving feature on my MacBook Pro M2 Pro once I started to experience these issues and it has been turned off since then. But at least in my case it seems to make no difference at all. But I'm glad to hear that it solved the issue for you! That brings some hope to the fact that this may be a non-issue for many others out there. May I ask what MacBook model you are using?
@empedance1933 @Neur0bit Oh, I'm sorry. I must have misread your comment. That's what happens when the morning coffee caffeine boost hasn't kicked in yet ;) Actually, I did try turning off the power saving feature once I started to experience this problem without it resolving the issue. However, that was prior to updating the firmware to the latest version. I'll make sure to try this again and report back the outcome. Thanks again for the tips - and for the clarification!
Interesting monitor, glad to see screen sizes are still going up. But what I don't like about these types of monitors is the lack in vertical height so I've been using 50 inch tv's for a while (with a small 27 inch vertical monitor as a second screen) and they are a better fit for me. Pity they don't make curved tv's anymore, I had one previously and that was really nice. The lower ppi doesn't bother me although I wouldn't mind going to 8K if it was both available and affordable.
I live in an environment where there is a network hierarchy PAN (Personal Area Network) - TB4 and USB3/4 LAN (Local Area Network) - Multi-gig Ethernet RJ45 and SFP+/SFP28 WAN Wide Area Network) - Multi-gig Ethernet /Internet This screen would be be perfect if it handled TB4/5 and also had smart TV capabilities. My answer to stiff neck/back is to turn my collar up so I don't get cold air on the back of my neck and put a cushion in the small of my back to maintain lordosis.
Ive got this monitor and its great. But the biggest annoyances, and my only 2 issues are #1 HDR looks washed out in windows so I just never run HDR which is a shame on this monitor. Never had that issue with my LG C1 TV as a monitor, and #2 when playing games in dark scenes, it looks like some one smeared vaseline on your screen due to the blooming from the backlights.
I’m interested in this monitor for productivity too (I do a lot of automation development in UiPath). I’ve watched every video about this monitor on UA-cam and yours is the best. Really gave me what I was looking for!
Thanks so much for the kind words, Timmy! I really appreciate it, and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video. Great to hear from another automation developer out there, by the way! :)
Unfortunately no usb c dp alt port. Everything else is fantastic. I hope when Samsung revise this monitor, does not make it oled (leave it as a mini led) and add one or even two usb c dp alt ports. Instant buy for me
I totally agree with you! It's a fantastic monitor overall. Hopefully, they will add USB-C in the next iteration of this particular model. I, too, would also still prefer Mini LED over OLED at this point in time.
Might be a good idea. Since it's been around a year since its release, the chances of an updated version appearing on the market within a year or two seem doesn't seem unlikely.
I think they'll come out with more humongous monitors (32:9 is gold) in the near future, like 65 in, 76 in, 89 in, or even 120 in... the bigger the better !!!
Yep, I wouldn't be surprised! I think many of us believed the original G9 49" was as massive as it could get. And then this big boy entered the stage. Samsung definitely seems to be continuing to push the sizes upwards. A larger one would certainly be interesting, but my goodness, it would require a big desk!
@@plejground desk won't be a problem, those lives in the giant mansion won't even blink to get the biggest one for gaming and other stuff, as a matter of fact, the bigger it gets, it saves a lots of space...you can literally do anything on that giant screen...
I think it´s funny that most reviews of this monitor are productivity focused rather than gaming even though it´s a gaming monitor, this is pretty much the single screen version of my setup: dual 32" 4K 165 Hz, but this thing is almost 6 times more expensive than what I paid for my screens, hard to justify the upgrade
Yeah, I hear you. You do pay a perhaps unnecessary premium for this monitor if productivity work is the main purpose, and two separate 32" 4K monitors would be a cheaper option. But... that borderless experience though... :D
I was planning to purchase this one, but maybe I will wait for their next iteration. I don't want to buy this monitor now and feel outdated in a short time. Currently I have a Samsung G8 Neo 32". I cannot go back to something that is less than that.
Thank you! Glad you liked it. I can run the 16:9 monitor/screen at 4K 120 hz over HDMI 2.1. Not sure if you might be able to push it beyond that over DisplayPort 2.1, but 120 hz is definitely possible while running the other two 8:9 monitors/screens at 60 hz.
I’m about to get a MBP with the M4 Pro chip. It would be purely for productivity purposes, so refresh rate matters very little to me. However, I’m very unsure as to how the 130ppi would scale, with MacOS preferring either 110 or 220 ppi.
If you sit close to the monitor as I am (at about 60 cm viewing distance) I think you'll be fine running at the native resolution. Anything beyond that and text and UI elements will probably appear too small. The next available resolution in MacOS will nerf the monitor down to 3840x1080, so that's not really an option unfortunately. Would have been great to see some more flexibility in terms of resolution and scaling options in MacOS.
@@plejground Let me ask you, do you connect to it with DP or HDMI? yesterday I was thinking of it again, and realized that on the laptop (HDMI) is not as frequent, or actually ever, as with the PC (DP) so, I connected the PD thru HDMI and I don't want to jinx it, but so far so good, no stay asleep, noturn on and off needed, even on remote desktop... so, let's see
i use a ASUS ROG 16" laptop with RTX 3070 TI - it has HDMI 2.1 port, so will I be able to use the full resolution? Not bothered about 240hz as I want this screen primarily for web dev productivity. Great video btw.

You can check it out here: www.maxgaming.com/en/latest-monitors-accessories/super-heavy-duty-monitor-stand-27kg-17-57-1-monitor I’m not sure if it can be purchased outside of the EU from them though. At least I wasn't able to find this particular arm in their webshop when switching from EU to International. In terms of wobbling I would say it's actually surprisingly sturdy. Especially considering its price. That said - there is certainly some wobbling if I shake my desk. But I think that's to be expected for basically any monitor arm that carries this behemoth.
Which stand are you using? I’m using the Ergotron with the heavy duty mount, but it can’t take the weight so I had to jam two long screws in the heavy duty pivot mount to stop the monitor dropping. Your arm looks like it sets the monitor further back too.
I bought the monitor arm from maxgaming.com and it's absolutely perfect for this monitor. It's cheap compared to the Ergotron and has zero issues with tilting. Hi Niklas, thanks for your review in which you confirm my findings after using this monitor since last December. I'm also using the Bewiser S1020 monitor arm which is similar to the one you're using. Couple of questions: - at aroud 7 minutes in the review you are using the Macbook as the only device, what resolution are you using? I find the 7680x2160 nice but it makes everything so small to read - how did you manage not to use the build-in KVM and work with one keyboard and mouse with two devices attached? - are the speakers on your desk wireless (and which brand)? If not, how did you manage the wires not to be visible between them
Hi Patrick! Thanks for watching! I'm running it at the full native resolution (7680x2160) when connected solely to my M2 Pro MacBook Pro. The text is definitely small, but since I have a relatively shallow desk at 60 cm-which means I sit close to the screen-I find it just about perfect. However, I can see how the text might appear quite tiny if you’re sitting a bit farther away from the screen. As for the keyboard and mouse, I’m using the Logitech MX Keys Mini keyboard and the Logitech MX Master 3S mouse. Both support up to three separate Bluetooth devices, which I can switch between with just the press of a button on the keyboard/mouse. So it’s almost as seamless as using the built-in KVM switch. The speakers are the Creative Pebble V3. They’re small, inexpensive, and get the job done, but they’re really nothing special. I’ve hidden the cable between them behind and under my desk, which actually makes them barely visible as I have the speakers placed very close to the edge of my desktop.
@@plejground Thanks for your quick response. My desk is indeed a bit deeper, namely 90 cm. Too bad MacOS still doesn't have a similar scaling option as Windows. Thanks again and have a nice weekend!
Ah, then I see why the text may appear a bit too small. 30 additional centimeters certainly makes a big difference. Yeah, scaling options such as the those in Windows would definitely have been nice to have in MacOS as well! Same to you! :)
I kinda disagree on 32:9 for gaming point's. (I own G93SC for 3 months now) - competitive play, easily better than 16:9, you simply see every corner when you enter any room, because FOV is wider you can take way more angles than before. - PRO players don't use it because they have contracts with usually BenQ wich makes only 24 TN esports panels, so there's no point using anything else, if on tournament you will be using BenQ. Open world games benefit insanely from 32:9, first person, third person doesn't matter it's two steps above 16:9. You can finally see scale of world you are in. I think most of your complaints come from wrong sitting position. Your eyes level shouldn't be on level of top of your monitor, instead it should be ~10cm obove center of the screen. Old ergonomic pics didn't account on the size of the monitor's we have today. (They are also wrong on the table position btw - it should be that low that pretty much touches your legs, so your hand can move freely)
Hi! Thanks for the kind words. I really appreciate it. It sure is very minimal and works well for work related calls/meetings. It's the Logitech Litra Glow: www.logitech.com/en-us/products/lighting/litra-glow.946-000001.html
Fantastic review. Really appreciate the context. Couple questions... What resolution are you running on macOS? What resolutions / aspect ratios are you running with PBP? Are you able to get 120hz in PBP (for any or all of the inputs)? Thanks you!
Thank you so much for the kind words and feedback! :) Regarding your questions about Picture-by-Picture (PbP): My Windows work laptop connects through one HDMI 2.0 port and one DisplayPort 1.4 port via a USB-C docking station. My personal MacBook Pro M2 Pro connects through an HDMI 2.1 port. In this setup, my Windows laptop fills the center 16:9 screen at 4K resolution (3840x2160), while the side sections for both laptops are each 1920x2160, giving them that 8:9 aspect ratio. Since my work laptop is limited to HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4, I’m stuck at 60Hz on both the 16:9 4K screen and the 1920x2160 side screens when using this layout. However, if I switch it up and display my MacBook Pro on the center 16:9 screen, the side screens connected to my work laptop behave differently: the DisplayPort-connected screen can run at 120Hz in 1920x2160 resolution, while the HDMI 2.0-connected screen is still capped at 60Hz. The MacBook Pro M2 Pro, with its HDMI 2.1 port, can handle 120Hz no matter if I’m using PiP or just displaying one screen at full resolution (7680x2160). I hope that answered your questions :)
@@plejground thanks for the quick and detailed reply! You must have incredible vision to be able to read 2160 on a screen that height. Even with reading glasses, I max out at 1890 on a 32" display, so I'm hoping to achieve 1800 on a 57" display (same physical height as a 32") by flexibly scaling the Mac's resolution using BetterDisplay (might step down to 60hz as a result). I'm also hoping to achieve a 60/40 PBP (Mac/Windows). The Samsung manual says 4:3 is an option when "PC/AV Mode is set to AV" so that would be 55/45 but the res seems limited to 1080 or 2160 (as you're using it at 2160). BTW you may be able to bump the work laptop's RR to 120hz in the graphics card settings.
@@pokerdealerohio They are decent but really nothing special. About what you would expect for a pair of speakers of this size and price. But they are better than most built in monitor speakers for sure.

Here for the same question, curious about the used monitor arm, since hardly any can handle the weight. I suspect the size and steep curve also causes the center of gravity to be a bit in front of the monitor and this causes most arm mounts to tilt forward, from the monitor attachment joint. Few arms are designed to handle this.
@@rydmike Yes, I believe what you're describing is exactly what's going on, i.e. that the center of gravity is pushed out causing most monitor arms to tilt even though they officially should be able to handle the weight. @@plejgroundit’s extremely annoying because my monitor powers off before my macbook sends the signal so it gets in a loop. Only way to mitigate is keep hammering spacebar until monitor powers on. So I bought a WD D50 thunderbolt game dock, with 2TB nvme and displayport and that fixes it.
I have the same one, but the G9 Neo is 49 inches, I have a question, does DCC/CI technology work for you using DisplayPort? Or is it still not working on the new version?
Haha, yep, that pretty much sums it up. And that Samsung addresses the input signal detection issues on this model, as well as on their other models facing the same problem.
How did you get the 3 input split screen to work? I am not seeing that as an option currently. Is there a firmware update or is it a setting I am missing?
That's correct. This feature was shipped in a later firmware update, so you need to update it to the latest version (1005.3). Then you should be good to go :)
If you can only split the monitor into two sections in Picture-by-Picture mode, that means you're most likely not running the latest firmware and need to update it to the latest version. The three split/three input support was released as part of a later firmware update. You can find the latest firmware here: www.samsung.com/levant/support/model/LS57CG952NMXUE/#downloads
That's a good question. Since I do not have a gaming PC at my disposal at this point in time and am not using it for gaming, I'm haven't tried this However, I don't se any reason as to why this would be an issue.
Does it hurt your eyes cause of the backlight? I hover an lcd next to my OLED and the lcd just outs out so much light all the time, it’s rough to put up with at night. Also, you are sitting way too close to that thing. No wonder your neck hurts. Get way back and enjoy seeing more of the screen.
Yes, I do experience eye strain from time to time and usually have the brightness set to around 40% of max brightness. For work, I do occasionally use the built in eye save mode and set it to low. It kind of kills the contrast and overall viewing experience, but it also removes a lot of blue light and takes away the eye strain immediately in my experience - so it's definitely handy for longer work sessions that doesn't require color accuracy. And yes - I my neck would definitely appreciate a deeper desk :)

@@TheRealFenwick Yeah, wall mounting this thing would certainly look a bit awkward. But personally, I do actually think that without the aggressive curve, there would be a big risk of ergonomic issues for many people as it would force you to lean to the sides in order to read what's on the edges of the screen. At least that's my experience from using flat ultrawides in the past.

Yeah, the HDR is pretty terrible in MacOS as well, unfortunately. I tested it about once and then never went back again.
@@plejground as in "terrible on THIS monitor"? Because HDR on my MacBook Pro XDR screen is PERFECT!

Instant buy for me
Man you are the first person to address how you can use PBP using two separate display cables. I spent ages trying to do this configuration...
I totally agree with you! It's a fantastic monitor overall. Hopefully, they will add USB-C in the next iteration of this particular model. I, too, would also still prefer Mini LED over OLED at this point in time.
I'm waiting for the 4K OLED personally.
Seems like it’s almost perfect, so I’m going to wait a little bit longer for this monitors replacement/upgrade.
Would kill for a 65” 27:9
Yep, I wouldn't be surprised!

So many complaints of breaking
I think it´s funny that most reviews of this monitor are productivity focused rather than gaming even though it´s a gaming monitor, this is pretty much the single screen version of my setup: dual 32" 4K 165 Hz, but this thing is almost 6 times more expensive than what I paid for my screens, hard to justify the upgrade
Yeah, I hear you. You do pay a perhaps unnecessary premium for this monitor if productivity work is the main purpose, and two separate 32" 4K monitors would be a cheaper option. But... that borderless experience though... :D
@@plejground for sure, and the MicroLED must be great too
I was planning to purchase this one, but maybe I will wait for their next iteration. I don't want to buy this monitor now and feel outdated in a short time.

Thank you for sharing. I will try out the dual monitor cable connection for Teams sharing myself - appreciate the tip!
Great video. Follow up question for you, what is the max refresh rate of the middle 16:9 "monitor" when using the PBP 3 split mode?

@@warperone Yes, I sure hope they will sort them out. Seems to affect quite a few of their models at this point in time unfortunately.

Ergotron HX is such a good monitor arm!!

I bought the monitor arm from maxgaming.com. I think it’s their own proprietary brand. You can check it out here: www.maxgaming.com/en/latest-monitors-accessories/super-heavy-duty-monitor-stand-27kg-17-57-1-monitor
I’m not sure if it can be purchased outside of the EU from them though.

Can you plug in a FireTV stick into the HDMI port?
Hi Niklas, thanks for your review in which you confirm my findings after using this monitor since last December.
I'm also using the Bewiser S1020 monitor arm which is similar to the one you're using.
Couple of questions:
- at aroud 7 minutes in the review you are using the Macbook as the only device, what resolution are you using? I find the 7680x2160 nice but it makes everything so small to read
- how did you manage not to use the build-in KVM and work with one keyboard and mouse with two devices attached?
(I own G93SC for 3 months now)
- competitive play, easily better than 16:9, you simply see every corner when you enter any room, because FOV is wider you can take way more angles than before.
Hi Niklas, great video. I just wanted to ask what soft light are you using beside your webcam? Looks nice and simple!
Regarding your questions about Picture-by-Picture (PbP): My Windows work laptop connects through one HDMI 2.0 port and one DisplayPort 1.4 port via a USB-C docking station.
How do you like the quality of your pebble speakers?

If you can only split the monitor into two sections in Picture-by-Picture mode, that means you're most likely not running the latest firmware and need to update it to the latest version. Is it possible to play games with a custom 21:9 resolution in window borderless mode and having discord/spotify on each sides? Thanks for your video
