  • In this video I show you how to make your own vintage samples from scratch for artists like Kendrick Lamar. Being able to make your own samples can be beneficial, as it will allow you to avoid certain legal issues that can arise from needing to clear 3rd party samples. In addition, it also opens up new collaboration/placement opportunities and gives you the ability to sell your own sample packs. I personally enjoy the challenge of trying to cook up something that sounds like it could have been ripped from a vintage record.

    I use to do the same kind of process to create my own samples but I struggle to find good vocal samples (for example like in Nice for What - Drake or Int'I Players Anthem - UGK).
    Do you know where to find good vocal samples ?

    • @yeaokay7871
      @yeaokay7871 2 роки тому +3

      Try looking for some old very underground rap a capellas. like krs-one or No I.D. You can also either look online for royalty free vocal samples or if you are a quick learner and if you have a decent mic you can just record your own voice doing or saying whatever shi you want no matter how random it is you can get some pretty good hits/sounds out of it.

  • @gns_prod
    @gns_prod 2 роки тому

    I love it, but why add a bass to the sample if you’re only going to cut it out and add an 808 after with the drums? 🤔

    • @jesperhasselberg4841
      @jesperhasselberg4841 2 роки тому +2

      The video is about how to make your own samples that sounds ripped from a vintage record, and most vintage records use a bass, simple as that. And cutting out bass with an EQ doesn't necessarily remove the movement and articulations from the bass since it's still present in the mid-range.

    • @gns_prod
      @gns_prod 2 роки тому +1

      @@jesperhasselberg4841 thanks for that! Makes sense. On its own it is a great sample and covers the whole frequency spectrum.
