- When it comes to incredible big wave moments, Shipsterns Bluff down the bottom of Tasmania is on top of the list when it comes to mutant crazy waves specially when big drops with big lumps (the step) are on the face and that sometimes means simply outrageous wipe-out's.
This edit shows off a couple of the biggest historic swell events that have been ever surfed there.
Real 30 foot days down at Tasmania's Shippies made it super dangerous that makes some very entertaining viewing. Shot in May 2011 & Oct 2011..

Yeah but those waves look to swallow the surfers. Maybe that location is surfable at times, but on that partic day doesn’t seem worth being getting thrashed about relentlessly

Every time I see Shippy's it reminds me how small we are. That wave is terrifying...some would say more terrifying than Teahupoo when it's firing.

my favorite big wave because it might just turn into two or three slabs and we can't deny jumping them looks insane when you know what's behind you

usually charge more gnarly waves than surfers too, 2 different types of waves for each sport ideally, but same passion in between

4.54 Did that wave just manifest a squared off block of right angled aqua out of itself to make him suddenly run out of support and fall off the edge and down through thin air to a hard landing while still completely surrounded by water. It's as though this shape shifting water is being conducted by an evil wizard.

That Danny Griffith wipeout to close the edit is unfuckingfathomable. The amount of water behind him is among the thickest I’ve ever seen someone get hit with…even over teahauapoo’s thickets lips.

Yeah could easily burst an ear drum in a wipe out there. That is why they wear those inflatable life jackets, pull that and it brings them to the surface when they are disorientated and dont know which way is up.

These Cycos with all do respect from down under are absolutely F…ing crazy that wave is not user friendly, if your lucky enough to make it to the bottom the fun just begins, then you get air born a time or two if you are lucky or skilled enough to make the drops then you got this fare from perfect thick has they get of a unforgiving barrel that you have absolutely no choice at all to do but pull up into it, hold on it gets better let’s not forget that rock cliff is all up in your face at all times so after you get your ass kicked by that beast they call a wave when and if you come up your hoping like hell your buddies there ASAP waiting for you with that wave runner so you can somehow get on that sled and get the hell out of there before you become part of the cliff Oh ya let’s not forget about those big fish that frequent the waters down there you no I believe they call them white pointers I call them GREAT WHITE SHARKS and you better hope like hell you don’t need to get to a hospital any time soon because that’s definitely not what’s gonna happen and maybe it’s my imagination but it seems to me the loudest cheers you hear is when one of there friends wipes out on the worst part of the wave if there is such a thing, WITH ALL DUE RESPECT YOU GUYS THAT SURF DOWN THERE ARE F…ING Krazy.
