While I respect Shaykh Akram I see his bias against Shafis in some of his works and his lectures. The issue of niyyah is not as simple as he says that "others misunderstood the Hadith". It would be best if you asked the Ulama of other Madhahib to know how they derive meaning from this report. The critique of the niyyah in words is another one. Don't learn the Hanafi understanding of the Shafi school, rather learn the Shafi understanding through the Shafi school. Ya Shaykh with all due respect, all others except the Hanafis or yourself didn't get it right. It is Allah's qadr that there are four schools and not one or ten.
