What's your favorite book you read in 2023? ☺
When the Day Comes by Gabrielle Meyer was my favorite read of 2023. It’s historical/time travel Christian fiction and the first in a series.

@@allypagley oh it’s still on KU! That might be my plane read! I’m in the middle of a B&B retelling right now, but I can never sleep the night before so I may finish it in time to start something new

@@allypagley thank you! 😊 I’ll have to keep an eye out for more good B&B Retellings now. The last one I read had so much potential but was a little too unbelievable.
The Gilded duology by Marissa Meyer might be better for you. I haven’t tried the Renegade series but I’ve enjoyed her other Stuff. Book of G sounds interesting if I can find it on KU. Sometimes you just need a middle of the road fun read. Most of my reads this year were 3.5 but rounded up to 4 for goodreads. Not terrible but ok year. Sounds like most of the year was good but not amazing for you. Hope this year is better for you!

my goal was 25 books and read 38. I can't imagine reading 100! I used to read 50 books a year years ago, and haven't been able to do that since. It's totally ok to not get to the main goal.
Kiss of Deception was one of my most disapointed books for 2023, but I will say I had fun with it because it was a book I read with my online book group, so I had lots of people to discuss it with who were reading it at the same time as myself. I think book two was a bit better in terms of explaining some things, but the magic system is still so hazy and unexplained as though the author things its better to leave information out instead of giving it to you and I didn't like that part about it. and the romance felt surface level with the prince guy--- I liked the assassin much better (but I could tell that was not the direction it was going and I was a bit sad by that).
Love vicious! currently reading book two right now and it's good so far.
Once upon a broken heart--- I read caraval and totally think the newest trilogy is way more fun to read!
I read Beach Read I think the year after it was released and liked how it was more than a Romance, it made it much more beautiful to read. Though, I am not much of a romance reader, so I think I gave it three stars--- Was stepping outside of my typical genre. I will say Nicola Yoon books ALWAYS get me, even though they are romance centered books, the structure of the books, the way it feels like we are watching real people becoming great friends and lovers is just so wholesome and wonderful and also, a little sad. lol. binge read any book she publishes.
That’s so awesome you beat your goal! Honestly everyone’s schedules are different I have found audiobooks during my workouts to really help me as well as when I cook and clean 🥰 so cool to hear your perspective on these books!

Same! It was so much personally not for me. Banter and tension? Yes! That’s why I’ve been reading so much YA honestly 😅

If you loved Love and Other Words don’t even bother reading Every Summer After by Carley Fortune. It’s the exact same thing except the “twist” at the end ruined the entire book and made me hate it.🫠
