I’ve just passed my test at the age of 32 I learned how to drive at 18 then my mum fell ill so I took her to hospital in her car a week before my test I got pulled over by the police and ended up with a 6 month ban so couldn’t do my test then I ended up having kids then driving became to exspensive to do with having a child at a young the two years later I had my second then I just never thought about driving as never thought would be feasible till 3 months ago I just decided to do it I knew how to drive so watched these videos to help with the usage of mirrors and to find out what you can’t do and I passed my test it was something I thought was never going to be possible the instructors with these you tube channels have helped more people than they realise
Big thank you for all your videos Francis! Passed my test first time on Tuesday in Morden with only 1 minor. Watched loads of your videos and Morden mock tests and they helped so much. Keep it up and I'll continue watching!
That was a really good drive, me and my examiner spoke loads on test and it really helped with nerves. Just when you need to concentrate delay your reply until you've overcome the obstacle/manoeuvre or what ever it may be. When ever I pulled up to the left I took a minute, drank some water then got my bearings again. Passed with 2 minors 3 weeks ago. Lots of help from Francis and his videos. Best of luck Laura.
Good luck Laura…I’ve got my 2nd test in September, failed with 1 serious ( a stupid mistake at a junction that I’ve never made before) and 1 minor! Praying I pass 2nd time 🤞
Hey mate you will pass 2nd time (I passed 2nd time)! Remember the important thing is to just try your best! I would advice doing a commentary drive on the test as this will help the examiner understand your thought process and therefore make them more comfortable! Please let us know how it goes! You can do it!
@@ricardoportwood39thank you, it was so frustrating, it happened 5 minutes in a day I had to complete the route knowing I’d failed. Hoping it goes better next time 🤞

Good luck on your test. My instructor didn't do mock tests either, but I insisted. I am paying for a service. I passed first time though

Hey! Love your channel and your content, it's super helpful and friendly - I find it very supportive☺️ idk if you're still doing videos about test routes for different centres in and around London, but if you are I have a couple of requests?? Watford and High Wycombe - probably a bit further away for you but it would be super helpful as I'm currently trying to find a test at either one (one is home and one is at my uni and I don't mind doing my test at either unless it's shocking, if that makes sense😅) Thanks again for your content🙌🏽💫
I'll add it to the list! thanks for the suggestions😊 tbh when you go to book your test you'll probbaly find it's a case of whichever one you can find a test at all at 🤦♂️
From a PDI point of view, She could have used more of the wheel when turning rather than franticly turning the wheel. She rolls back occasionally at 09:26. So either handbrake starts or as you suggested, foot on the foot brake, find the biting point then move over to the gas pedal so you don't roll back. Occasionally her approach to roundabouts can be a bit quick. Sometimes I find she might not be observing as well as she could. She came off one roundabout at 08:25 and if she looked into the road she was turning into, she would have seen traffic lights or if she couldn't see into the road, she should have slowed down enough so she could have reacted to what was round the corner. Because when she got off the roundabout, she had to use the brakes harder to stop because the lights were red and there was cueing traffic.
So far.. I'd say she is really good. I only noticed she could maybe observe the slow signs on the road marking before junctions more and slowing down more to pass pedestrians etc. Good luck though I think you will smash it ! :)
When he said “unless you got anxiety” I was like SHIT because I do have anxiety 😭 But I’m trying the banana method and stuff to help calm my nerves and help me focus on my driving lessons up to my test
07:49 that’s quite unusual to have a road that drives over tram tracks, we don’t have any roads like that here in my area, only train tracks with level crossings.
Francis, please can I ask you a question, if you don’t mind, if you’re entering a controlled parking zone or a restricted parking zone or a resident permit holder only parking zone I think you have to be parked in bays only (if you’re allowed), I think you’re not allowed to be parked on the street outside of a bay, is that correct?
Hi mate, I just wanted to let you know, after so many years of patiently waiting I’m finally having some driving lessons on dual carriageways and on motorways, I’m so excited, finally my wish and my dream has come true, I’m doing an hour driving assessment on Thursday, my driving instructor wants to see how I drive, then I have a 2 hour driving lesson on Friday.
Laura had an amazing drive, and if it hadn't been for that red light at the roadworks I would question if she didn't have a full license already! (even though some full license holders did also go through it 😂)
There should have been more ‘stop at the red light’ signs long before hazard, as it led on to a dangerous situation at the roundabout. Even if the lights were for me at a roundabout I would still observe the rule ‘give way to the right’!
I’m 16 minutes through the video, she is smashing it tbf. On the topic you mentioned as well I ended up passing 3rd time because of 2 silly mistakes and the same very chatty instructor! She was lovely but John who I had the 3rd time spoke a little but let me focus. Hopefully Laura passes
Good Luck Laura.❤ 11:04 nice for tiktok.😅 12:09 yea.. i prefer not to speak, if i speak i am in big trouble.. in big trouble Francis and do not to want to be in big trouble. What is correct speed limit in this Francis?😊 13:15 very relatable.😮 14:37 you put her on the spot.😂 26:35 she is family oriented.💜 She did a good drive, specially as she has never driven in this fiat abarth 500 and she is fairly very safe. You forget to ask her to do a uk reversing driving test manoeuvre. :)
Isn't 12:05 also a fail since the motorcycle has right of way? And she really needs to work on her steering, it looks very rushed and possibly with a risk she loses the wheel.
On my test the examiner thought i hadn't seen a red light ( i hadn't at that point) told me to stop( red light) and i got failed as a dangerous - for examiner intervention and you let this girl run a red light and only gave her a serious fault.
Good luck with your test. Interesting about the it’s ok to thank another driver, I was taught you didn’t do this and my instructor did the wave, I actually said to my examiner I’d be keeping both hands on the wheel so would he thank other drivers and he seemed fine about that.
I would not have indicated right at that roundabout either. I think it is wrong to require that. Another driver in the right hand lane going round the roundabout might think I was trying to change lanes. The lady on the left coming on to the roundabout is required to give way to any vehicle coming from the right and she should be aware of that. Too much indicating can confuse people, but you should be indicating as you leave the roundabout. The DVSA are not realistic in their requirements, as learner drivers have enough to do when negotiating complex junction and roundabouts which have been made worse and more dangerous by the Highways Agency. Many junctions are just crazy and a complete stranger would not have a clue how to negotiate them! As for the temporary red light situation, the contractors should be held responsible for creating what looks like a very serious hazard situation, it should have not been set up like that. The red light was observationally obscured by parked and contractors vehicles. There should have been warning signs set up long before the lights to make drivers aware of them.
Reference point stickers are the most stupid idea . Are you always going to drive the same car are you always going to be In the same position if it's a shared car. Plus do you want your car covered in stickers. Learn to use your body position and position of your vehicle you can always put more steering on put in or less . Driving doesn't need to be strict.
@wrightwoodwork instructors should teach these methods instead od stickers. What's the point of passing your test to then not be able to use that metnod any 😊more
@Ruth695 I honestly don't know . I tend to use my eyes and let them lead my hands. Then I will use my shoulder hand etc . Generally speaking you will always be the same distance from the pedals in your seat as your legs don't change length . Then you will have your roughly in the same place . Regardless of it being a little fiat 500 or something like a Mercedes e class . Them things are more consistent in any car. Where car parts like handles mirrors etc are all different. Then lets say you always turn when your shoulder lines up with mark in a golf then you go in little 500 you may turn once your shoulder has gone past the mark then say in an.audi A4 you may turn a little before the point . I bet if you where to measure body position it would be the same regardless of car. Maybe we need to ask an instructor why they dont use body parts for reference points instead of stickers .
I used to be a good at parking but not now, I’m horrible, as I learnt in a car that has 360 cameras the 2018 Nissan QASHQAI and now, I only have sensors in my 2017 Hyundai i20. So usually the car tells me what to do
@Eliteboss2004 hey you know roughly where the car should be and what to do to adjust a your mirrors set properly. It may sound daft but guess where you think you should turn in . Now let's say you are turning in too soon all you have to do is turn in later and vice versa . Try to look are where you are in relation to what is beside you then it is just making a few tweaks . I'm in a van so it's all mirrors and the sensors at the back. The first thing I did was to reverse till the sensors makes a solid noise then go and look how close or far I am then I know in future how much I can keep creeping back
