Yamaha’s fastest race sleds have been pretty reliable starting around 1992 with the vmax 4. I have heard of people getting over 10k miles on those sleds without a rebuild. Even the SRX 700 was a pretty reliable sled.
I spring checked the 2012 cat turbo based on your review of that sled, country cat got the bugs worked out and now I have 10,000 miles on it, bullet proof 180 hp, 87 octane gas, 16 mpg, I’m an aggressive rider, but I’m big, 6 foot 3 and 225 lbs so I can handle the extra weight of a 4 stroke..easy. But I’m loving this thing, bullet proof, fast, comfortable, have over 3000 miles on last belt, still on the original spark plugs, change oil every other year, heck I’m still on the original battery!!! Never adjusted the valves.. keep the nuts and bolts tight, maintain the skid, gas and go and hang on!! These pro cross 4 stroke cats are real!! With 2 buck gas and the sled long payed for, I’m practically riding for free!!! Have more flex money for other toys
Love this sled... shock package, think it as the perfect track lug for crossover, its pretty .... and has the extra ponies to prevent you from getting stuck ... :)
Out of curiosity (I've been out of snowmobiling for a lot of years), when he says "more powerful than any modern sled" is he saying that there were classic sleds that measured up to this? I know that by virtually all metrics, a modern sled is a much better ride than a pre-Rev platform sled. But when it comes to lakerunners, how do these compare to old 2-stroke mach 1's, Indys, thundercats, or vmax 4's?
I don't understand why they don't come with a windshield these days. All dealers are so greedy. Oh you want a windshield with that. Well no shit. Well you got to pay extra.
I know, Total BS, pay new sled $$$$, we should get correct windshields per type of sled you are buying, looks like only Utility sleds get correct windshields now..LOL , laughing but it really does make me upset...
Ever consider doing a road trax? Testing out Street bikes and street legal 3 wheelers, if you do it consider hiring me please :p thanks for the videos fellas, love the family reviews.
Note,,,roll, grab bar on handelbar...=...no windsheild,,,,so, the first time you accedently roll your new sled lightly over, you'll understand why!....and have to buy a new one..!..plus, an underlying reason for that loop grab is to protect the controls and throttle somewhat!!!!!hense, crossover!!!!!!thanks,,see you on Kevlar lake.😐
all that HP, thinking its gonna be pretty rare you get stuck , specailly with those awesome 1.75 paddles... Thinking it more then likely BackCountry X track, which has a very good rep... Just sayin...
Wasup Fool Sorry Fool your wrong . It’s on paper and on snow and ice .maybe 0-30mph but who cares , after that it’s gone ! And if you say it’s heavy your just one of those wimps that can’t hang .

Glad to see a yamaha review in the off-trail segment.
That being said all this told me is that I want a 900t backcountry even more than I did before.

Excellent review. Thank you Mark. I always enjpy your honest presentation of products.
Good review mark about time someone calls it how it really is!! The most powerful fastest production sled on the planet!! No trolls allowed.

galactica80 Sidewinder won’t touch a Mach Z or an old Thundercat top end.
@@ebsell very interesting....
So they would be quite competitive in a drag race?
I was wondering how this whole four stroke thing was going.
@@Megarobotsquadron sidewinder srx destroys everything in the past, period.
@@R1D387 the poster above you seemed to disagree.
I'd love to see some lake races between this and an older mach z or thundercat.

Hmmm .Ya it's nice .
Nice sled but heavy as a school bus.
850 SkiDoo and the 850 Patriot are both quicker than the Yammacat
