- why yes i made the thumbnail myself how could you tell? Super excited for this patch!! Like I say in the end, regardless of how the balance works out, I'm sure they'll fix it. This is a huge step in the right direction and shows the team isn't afraid to take risks making sweeping changes across the board. Really happy with this.

Eskay will go down in overwatch history as the one who started the S9 ranked rework snowball. This all gained traction because of her and now we've got a completely new system because of it.
Maybe they were gonna do it anyway, maybe they weren't. But flowers should be given where flowers are due !!!

@@candiednight everyone hated it from the start, but it was only when eskay brought it up that the devs first listened, so basically it just means that the devs doesn't listen to the community but rather big streamers/youtubers, it just took more than a year for them to finally listen...
Like I said, maybe they were gonna do it anyway, maybe they weren't. We have no clue. What we do know is that they announced this after her video came out, credited her, deeply analyzed her video and made a ranked system based on her ideas. A lot of what came in the rework is ideas proposed by Eskay to the developers. Jade weapons, ranks above grandmaster, allowing GM stacks, etc. are all things that we can originate from Eskay's video, as they're specific to problems never mentioned by the developers in the past. It's way more likely they came from the video as opposed to .. what? a coincidence? She's credited in every single Developer's take about the new competitive system.@@nohomolads

5:27 I always wonder if matchmaking looks at those other factors when deciding which team is favored. Like, you know for sure that matchmaking also takes into account whether you're in a group or not. Technically they could make matchmaker look at other factors you mentioned if they can be realistically measured. For example, maybe you could look at the Junkrat one trick's win loss record on a specific map and adjust the match prediction from there. They also keep track of winrates of specific heroes, so maybe you can look at the most played heroes of each player and make a prediction based on what heroes they're likely to play and how those heroes statistically fare against the opposing team's likely hero choices.
Mercy’s Valk is gonna be terrible if everyone is being attacked by a dps. Goes from 60 to 42 heals per second like 💀 crazy this patch is gonna be insane
Finally, that one mercy player going to that dumb flank to bully the silver DPS widow with 2 kills the entire game will be able to justify it to their team easier.

I'm very curious about the outcome of the dps passive. Do we know for how long they apply the effect? And do we know if abilities like bubble or kiri can cleanse this effect?

For the modifiers for matches describing being favored or not, it could mean as the game goes on those 50 50s change as team fights go on.
like if you came back down 100m to 0m in push, it would make sense to get the uphill battle modifier, etc.
There is a thing with R6 Tracker (idk if it’s the same with Valorant Tracker since I’ve never used it) that shows the win percentages of the teams and it’s pretty much never a 50/50 or even a 55/45 for that matter. One team is always statistically better than the other. It’s usually about 60/40 or 80/20 in worse case scenario where you queue into cheaters OR a Smurf stack.
They should probably revert Brigs whipshot nerf now, thoughts?
The regen will be great for sombra and flankers and just dumb times where a person is hiding and low and you have to try and meet to heal they could hide full heal and be back for the next fight 😊
Also shiiiit it just says dealing damage not wepon shots so ash will be huge and sym and torv having a turret apply the reduced healing , I think junk will be great for applying reduced heals too bur yea hanzo and widow dead
Well the 1v1 is going to be hard for her because of the health pool though. Gives more people time to turn and burn on her.
@wrath5332 true it will just change how lucio plays to be a more team based way if you see someone low you can still speed boost and kill them and idk 1v1 with more health means more time to get on top of them with lucio and if you jump on them and punch it gets hard to hit him you won't be just sliding around getting picks but if you play around your team it will be easier also now ppl will hide to heal and get rid of the 20% less heals and lucio can push them
I think they're lying about the 50-50 chance in each game. I recently ranked up to Masters 4 on DPS, since then, I am now 0-18 across all roles in comp... EIGHTEEN GAME LOSS STREAK AND EVERY GAME IS ENTIRELY ONE SIDED

I'm so curious how much the game will change because of the new changes. It's going be semi hard to re-learn confirmed kills. The pacing of the mach will be different as well. I'm so curious.
I have moved from Overwatch to Paladins, and this update makes the game a little bit more like Paladins.
The DPS passive, that is a concept that is staple to Paladins gameplay, called Cauterize. Cauterize causes all champion's weapon shots to apply anti-heal, starting at 25% and ramping up to 90% by mid-game.
The universal HP increase brings damage numbers more in line with Paladins- I calculated a while back that Paladins champions on average deal 20% less damage than Overwatch characters. If Overwatch characters are all getting about 20% more hp, than damage numbers should be similar- barring one-shots and head-shot multipliers being different (1.5x universally vs 2x semi-universally).
Self heal is also a thing in Paladins, it is very similar but I didn't catch if shooting your weapon in this Ow2 patch will delay the self-heal, like it does in Paladins.
Hitscan size increases, I don't think Paladins has that per se, but hurtboxes are pretty damn big in Paladins, so that'll be similar.
There are still plenty of differences between the two games ofc, but I'm very excited for Overwatch to have a talents, cards, and items system in the coming years. Can't wait for them to add Grohk to Ow2.

I was just thinking there was a mechanic like this in TF2 where healing speed from medics is scaled based on how recently you took damage.

The modifier cards telling you the enemy team was assumed better will make people flip as they scream "WHY WOULD YOU MATCH US IF WERE GOING TO LOSE ANYWAY?!?!?!"😂😂
as a Lucio main who 1v1 damage champiogns, none of this is fair.
Now give back 1 shot ability for multiple heroes to make them unique again and actually scary to push. Some characters are meant to be strong and reward skill (Hanzo, for example). Healers should not be able to rush down a DPS without fear of being rolled like Kiriko, Moira, Illari.
From what I've seen of the balance changes, all the numbers seem to be going up. Personally, I prefer to see damage numbers go down, because as is it looks like there won't be a huge change in balance.

It would be nice to have mercy rez the target back at 50-60% health like the defibs in Finals. It would make rezzing tanks a lot less annoying with the new health buffs

I'm so confused. Rank "reset" just removes your displayed rank icon, and doesn't change your MMR at all. Looks to me like that one rank reset they did from season 1-2, where people played against opponents of the same skill level, just in a lower rank.
So if i finish this season with 2900 comp points, i wont be able to buy a gold gun until the end of 2024 when the next credits convert to get me to 3k?
Top 500 is per region right? Is Champion a shared global rank or split into regions like top 500?

With health pool changes, Brig will become the most useless support. She dealt really not good damages before, now she will become really weak unless they buff her :Z

Big W for Ranked but at what cost imo
Brig already can't one shot! Two melees, a whipshot, and a shield bash does 35(2) + 70 + 50 = 190 damage. They buffed her a while ago to 80 damage whipshot, which did add up to 200 damage, but they quickly reverted it.
Brig is still gonna be A tier

The placement matches have me worried. The system just seems like another way to artificially boost ranks again and inflate the ranks
The balance patch looks horrible. Hopefully if it is terrible they'll revert it quickly. The ranked changes will make me finally want to play ranked again.

ranked changes all seem very good. regardless of whether or not there's a matchmaking change, getting more transparency in the system will make ranked much more enjoyable.
champ rank is neat i guess, i've heard GM1 and GM5 are practically different ranks so having an extra tier for the very best to rise into seems beneficial. wont affect me though
jade weapons are more "free" customization, so why not
i dont understand legacy competitive points yet, but tbh i dont really care that much
increasing the size of projectiles could be good for consistency, though ill have to see how it actually plays out. i doubt itll make or break any heroes, maybe just make the game feel better. (please for the love of god do not include widow in these changes)
increasing health globally basically acts as a global damage nerf, which is super needed. not super sure how itll affect support in actual gameplay, but it should be a net positive.
base regen on all heroes seems like a nice QOL rather than an actual balance change, but it does make healthpacks a little more redundant. as a support main, getting my passive healing earlier will be cool too.
i dislike the DPS passive as of now, but who knows maybe itll turn out good.
overall very positive changes, only a few that are neutral or potentially harmful.
Soj rail at max charge is 0.1m and scales linearly down to 0 with energy loss. You can visualize different sizes with that if you want.

Is noone gonna mention how these changes are straight copies of what Paladin has been offering since its release ? Bigger bullet, less healing when you hit a target as dps, life regen when hiding.

the gold weapons change is so unnecessary. i havent played the game long enough and i hate playing comp with all the toxicity and bad mindset. i see a lot of ppl on twitter not making sense of this change too, i really hope they change it

Overwatch took some notes from Paladins (all heroes have out of combat regen, anti-heal on hit except its just for dps, more health on average (i think)) and I think that's awesome. I always loved Paladins so it's cool to see Overwatch move in that direction a bit more :3 (also ur so pretty!!!!! always a pleasure to see ur facecam ^w^ 💖💖)

I dont think ranks matter for top 500. It’s just top 500 out of all players so u can be both champion and t500. Like how some diamond players got t500 in overwatch 1 lol

Man, I cant wait for all the Champion level players to be one guy on 20 ults.
They're fixing the rank system... but what about matchmaking? I hate playing every game where I either carry or at least have a positive KDR, and I get brainless teammates who have no idea why, where, and what they're doing. I can be 15Kills 1Deaths, and I get an Orisa with 0Kills 5Deaths and 8,000 dmg. Or how every support plays; Moira, Mercy, Life Weaver just because they're a no-risk hero to play...

Am I the only one who thinks this dps passive is going to be terrible for tank players to deal with? Playing JQ? Come around a corner, randomly get tickled by a sojourn bullet from across the map? You have three choices, go into a fight with the disadvantage, hide behind a wall to wait it out or... What I think is going to be yet another meta... Go get you one of the very few shield tanks... Awesome, yet another counter tank meta where I just don't get to play what I want... Can't wait...

@@unsaltedmixednuts8036 she still one-shots most squishies within her falloff range and now she has Illari’s hitscan size for her shots instead of the pinpoint it was prior. GM players can maintain >60% accuracy on Illari.
@@aurioh didn’t think about that. Maybe they won’t increase her projectile size or maybe they’ll decrease her damage a little? I don’t wanna play against widow every game lol
@@unsaltedmixednuts8036 I do think it'll be mitigated because she won't kill anyone but Tracer, opposing Widows, or baby DVa as soon as falloff starts, and also because I have a sneaking suspicion all of Mei/Torb/Bastion are going to be very strong, none of whom can be one-shot by her anymore.
we will see when the patches land. So far from the blog I don't think she will get the hitscan increased size due to her not having a shotgun or having a high firerate (in sniping mode)
