The carburetor body is machined with a taper on purpose. Just think of it like a velocity stack you'd install on top of a carb. This tapered shape is how you get the air/fuel mix to Gain Velocity as it proceeds down its path towards the intake runner. As the mix gains velocity(speed) down the throat of the carb it simultaneously atomizes better and hopefully becomes more dense. This should end with the engine producing more HP. Well in theory at least. Surly scale has got to affect this process in some way also

I know is much to do but why not try an SH .15 carb, those have a bigger Venturi then the Traxxas. Maybe do the same you did with the L200. Creat a square tubing intake add a thicker aluminum piece between the carb and the intake to allow a set screw in the thick side to hold the carb in place with a rubber seal of course. It might be the way to improve it.

You said that the carb you received was bad - why was it bad?

Hi Denny, you know I struggle to imagine one carb feeding all 4 cylinders , they say on that carb factory setting is 3.5 turns out , so I'm guessing it'd be turned out 7 turns ?

sorry for the late reply brother, I found around 5 turns but it needs 6-7 but a bigger opening and more air with the gasoline version ,👍

Too much carb is as bad as not enough carb, funnily enough. Tons of guys have built hot rods and put 800cfm carbs on engines that want a 600cfm, then complained it runs like shit. Carbs need to restrict the intake path in order to generate the vacuum upon which they rely on to function.
Too small a carb doesn't affect anything but raw power, and that's probably why we're seeing it here. It helps guarantee these things run. It also helps rev-limit them, because these engines are not really meant to turn a flywheel in anger. They're meant to brap on a desk. Why the Toyan V8 has such a horribly restrictive intake setup as well; they don't want it revving so high it chucks a rod when there's no load on it to keep the RPM in check.
These pumper carbs, to me, seem like they'd benefit from a float bowl of some sort.
I do fully agree that nobody selling these tiny little desktop engines knows what the hell they're doing when it comes to making a TN carb. One of the simplest carbs to make and they still bork it up something fierce. IT's even worse when they're trying to use the same carb for gasoline and glow fuels; glow fuel AFRs are so much richer that a carb capable of metering that is going to have a tough time with the wispy thin gasoline AFRs, and a carb that can handle the thin gas AFRs will struggle to meter the really rich glow fuel AFRs. We see that even with OS carbs on EOS engines when people try to gas convert them! And OS quality is top shelf.
Side note; does your L4-175 have head gasket issues? Mine never sealed at the back. The transfer port between block and head at #4 is so close to the cylinder that the gasket just said 'fuck this shit' and extruded into the chamber as soon as the head went on it.
