Ever since 2015 when trump came on the scene, there has been an obvious lack of respect, decency, character, integrity, honesty, kindness, compassion, empathy, sympathy. It will be nice to return to the semblance of that.

@@Kopernicus67 That was the "red wave" election when only D.C. and Minnesota went blue. I was 12 at the time. Now the GOP would label Reagan a "RINO" and he'd probably go back to being a Democrat again.
She is not particularly popular even in the Democratic Party (she received 3% of the votes in the primaries in 2020), and many there are disgruntled that she has been named a candidate now without a primaries at all. She is not very smart and fails in interviews, so you won't see her interviewed until the election - only pre-prepared speeches. .She is a known progressive who has now chosen a deputy candidate who is also progressive, so she does not appeal to the centrists in the party at all. During the elections, many of them sat at home. She doesn't talk about any issue except abortion, because the party is united in her opinion on this, and basically the only thing she has to offer is that she is a black woman, and even that is only half. .A very bad sign for her is that over half of Hispanic men support Trump. So I don't think she'll be seeing the White House that soon.
I'm a registered Republican. I believe in decency, integrity, and honesty, that is why I'm voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. I was going to sit this one out because I could not find myself voting for Biden or Trump but Harris and Walz have the right message of unity and respect.

We also came out in support of President Biden and before that. The Republican Party as we understood it to be no longer exists but we still believe in preserving the Constitution and our Republic. As such, regardless of some policy differences, it is very easy to vote for Harris/Walz and we will do so. We can discuss real policies and work on collaborative approaches down the road as in days gone by, assuming Democracy survives on the ballot.

Policy is the substance of politics. However, it should be understood as a necessary but not sufficient condition to win a public mandate. Voters must also evaluate character, because they must trust the judgement of their leaders to be reasonable, honest, ethical, and fair - even when they disagree on some goals or values. Perhaps especially when they disagree.

I’m a staunch Progressive Democrat and I respect and honor Riggleman’s party affiliation and perspective. I look forward to a functioning and civil bipartisan government again.
I’m a veteran and been saying the same thing about JD Vance. It’s quite embarrassing smh. When it’s my husband’s time to retire, I want him to retire. If his unit is deploying, I’m sure he will continue to retire bc he has done his time. Also, people have to understand the National Guard that Walz was in, is supposed to protect our borders but our force was stretched so thin during the wars, they were deploying alongside active duty and reserves.

The way for Traditional Republicans to take back the party from MAGA and Trump is to vote for Harris.
I'm def one of the right-of-center folk , who is moderate but definitely on the right in principle on things like defense, money, capitalism, etc. I never liked Trump from day 1, and took particular joy out of voting against his interests twice in the Republican Primary.
But I am an alien in the current Republican Party. I used to be a democrat. I learned about economics, and started to appreciate the right a lot more. Always been moderate - but I actually actively like capitalism - and lots of democrats do express ( to me , in person ) distaste for it that started making it hard for me to identify with democrats.
Later I started to appreciate the virtue of a strong national defense ( which I opposed before for cost reasons ).
Then the right goes god damn crazy. I
If the party can make room for folk who think like I do - and give us a seat at the table - I think this election will go extremely well for democrats, and I think the democratic party could grow beyond it's current coalition into a larger and more endurable one. And you will need the folks concerned about national security and a free and fair capitalist system - because the autocrats of the world are aligning against us and they are not playing nice. A bit of cold-war mentality here, isn't the worst idea in the world, and it's the now anti-trump conservative national security people that have a deep well of expertise that can be tapped.
Well I'll weigh in and say that many Republicans have been in such deep pain and conflict (such as the rest of the country and much of the world) dealing with this maniacal crazed to have all power Mr. "T". Frankly I think many are being relieved of the burden and Finally, there's a sane and experienced alternative for them to cast their vote. I'm not and "us/them" sort of person. I'm simply grateful and also cautiously relieved, that , call yourself what you will, this group in the present is finally beginning to waken from the authoritarian trance & begin carefully redirecting their own "tribe", allowing them to keep the moniker of their chosen identity, and begin doing the sane thing, vote Kamala

From the UK, where after 14 years of Conservatives in power the Trumpists-alike (UK alike) discovered new problems and took to the streets to destroy and cause havoc (no problems for them during those 14 years, all flared up a few weeks after Labour won the elections), we expect that if Harris wins the presidency she will find a middle ground and solve the problems that moderate Conservatives like me (expelled by the populist Boris Johnson - they were the real brains within the party) consider important. Note that there is a reverse situation between the USA and the UK, in our country, Labour spends a lot, Conservatives (until Brexit) not, while in the USA, Republicans do not have a good elan in the economy (with the extreme Trump increasing the debt to levels impossible to come back). So, Harris, compromise, because many moderate Republicans will vote for you.
